I live in SEC country, and I have found that everyone seems to be positive on us as long as we aren't playing that day. The Florida and Georgia fans want us to win our bowl games, and they were glad to see the SEC expand with two good programs. The attitude is generally that making the conference stronger is always good, that high tide raises all boats. I have been to games in Gainesville people are interested and talking to us, generally being hospitable. (Southern hospitality is a real thing even today and even in football)
There are a lot of fans of ACC teams here too, and they have no feelings about us one way or the other, which is pretty much the same attitude I have toward the ACC teams.
The most unpopular teams here are FSU or UF, the opposite of whatever your alignment is, then Miami, then Ohio State.
