I like this move. 3.65 career ERA and 8.6 K/9. I'll certainly take that over what Mariot/Coleman have offered up this year.

Why Not? 07-16-2014 11:59 AM

If he can't play RF, then meh. But def better then Mariot

Yeah, obviously not the top priority on the team right now, but it's a good move.

May be a solid move since they can't count of Coleman or Collins right now

Passan doesn't believe there is hitter in the market for the Royals. He thinks Byrd would cost the Royals bonofacio. No

Considering that Bonifacio is still at least two years away from the major leagues, struggling mightily at AA, and has never projected as a superstar, I don't think he's untouchable.

I'd really have no problem with moving him as part of a package for Byrd.

Agreed, although Frasor has given up runs in four of his last 5 outings (all 1 inning or less).

Any chance the rockies would part with Morneau? They are way below 500.....morneau is signed through 2015 (which would be appealing to KC).

Butler and prospects for Morneau?

:)

Think Byrd waives the no trade. Didn't realize bono was struggling

@TNT_Mariners: Hearing what @JimBowdenESPNxm previously reported: Marlon Byrd wants $8m option for 2016 guaranteed to waive no-trade clause to #Mariners.

Sure-Oz 07-17-2014 10:45 AM

@TNT_Mariners: Not a rumor, Mike. Have talked. Both interested @michaelengel hearing anything further about the Crasnick "Seattle looking at Butler" rumor?

You've answered your own question there.

I think Byrd would waive it, which adds some risk but also would mitigate some of the pain from sending Bonifacio to Philadelphia (2.5 seasons is easier to stomach than 1.5).

I'm wondering what the Mariners are willing to give up for Butler. No clue, really. We've seen speculation about PB's favorite, Nick Franklin, before. But not sure if the Mariners place more stock in his struggles at MLB level or his AAA performance (former, they're probably willing to move him for Butler; latter, no way).

Three cases of bats, balls and BBQ sauce.

I read an article where the Dodgers are going to have five OF's when one of them comes off the DL. Matt Kemp wants out because he's already fighting for playing time with four OF's. It mentioned the Dodgers would have to eat some of his salary to get a trade partner. Kemp in RF for prospects if they would be willing to eat some salary? Here's the link;

Obv I wanted to grab Franklin last year and I'm glad to read Dutton claiming that's the guy we like. Getting a 23yr old AAAA player is a good move even if Franklin never becomes a true major leaguer (Giovatella like). And for what? 3 months of Fat Ass? Would be a steal.

That said his value is only at 2B and we signed Infante. With Colon now ready for spot duty there's no logical spot for Franklin. You can't put him at 3B unless you think his power in Sea last year (12 in 369 AB which would make him our team leader this year sadly) is legit. He hit 0 in 47 AB this year.
