Pat could have run for the 1st there too.

Yeah. Not a thing went right on offense yesterday. It was a flashback to the Titans game a few years ago.

300 yards Canadian, so with the exchange rate, that’s what, 150 American

Any idea why it's not translating in NFL?

I remember this board was ecstatic when we picked him.

I disliked the pick very much, but Staylor and Meck convinced me he fit the offense perfectly.

In college he played against kids who just were not talented enough to play Power 5 D1 football. Like, KU had better players than Skyy was playing against.

For me, nothing made him special in college, or the combine, or any single game he has played for the Chiefs.

Skyy Moore has literally never done a single thing on the football field, in college or the NFL, that made me think he belongs in the NFL.

It was very frustrating when people kept telling me he was good, because I didn't understand how they couldn't see with their own eyes that he clearly wasn't good. Mahomes doesn't trust him, no matter what Mahomes says, and I don't blame him.

Watching the Dante Hall tribute they posted on YouTube, I was thinking that if RG wants a damn team over there so badly, why not try NFL Europe again.

It produced guys like Kurt Warner and Dante Hall. Europeans are much more familiar with the NFL and it's players, and rules, etc. now, and it would be much easier to market in the age of social media.

Who runs a west coast based timing offense?

Certainly not Andy Reid and the Chiefs.

The slant is a staple of the WC offense. Reid calls one slant every 3 games.

What part of watching Mahomes bounce around the pocket, holding the ball, makes you think west coast timing based offense?

Reid has abandoned those Bill Walsh concepts, and runs more of a vertical passing offense with a lot of intermediate and deep routes that take time to develop. Mahomes isn't going three step drop, or five step drop, and boom, releasing the ball to a timing route.

I'm not convinced he catches this even with no defender contact. The ball came in over his right shoulder at a really awkward angle. He's so bad at tracking. You can adjust your route while the ball is in the air Skyy. It's allowed.

Reid is just trying to stick up for his guy. This is one of the reasons players love him. Reid always tries to put the blame somewhere else (at least publicly) when it comes to his players. It's effective but sometimes I think Reid takes this tactic a bit overboard.

That drop is on Skyy Moore and no one else. Not the refs they call enough pass interference calls and WRs have enough rules in their favor as it is. Moore needs to take responsibility and get better or get the **** off the field.

Robinson and Pringle make this dude look like trash and that's disturbing to think about.

suzzer99 10-30-2023 10:51 PM

That Reid feels the need to stick up for Moore could say a lot about Moore's lack of confidence. I'd lack confidence too if I sucked at my job.

Right. I've always believed that confidence is like trust, you have to earn it and it shouldn't be just given. You can fake confidence but real confidence comes from accomplishments and he hasn't done shit so far in his career.

Well I shouldn't have said that he hasn't done anything. He had that nice punt return in the playoffs against the Bengals and caught that wide open pass in the SB but that's about it. That's not going to boost any players confidence in any significant way.

Agree but he needs to overcome that corner pulling at his arm. Almost every corner uses this technique and hopes to get away with it as a last resort. Have got to get your hands up and try to catch or sell to the official that you were interfered with. Skyy has pencil thin arms. He needs to bulk up in the weight room like Reek and fight through that bs.

srvy 10-30-2023 10:59 PM

In short Skyy is a weak sister.

MahomesMagic 10-30-2023 11:07 PM

Green Bay drafted a WR like this a few years ago in Amari Rodgers.

The difference is that while like Skyy he didn't see the field much Year 1, they cut him Year 2 when they realized he wasn't an NFL player.

srvy 10-30-2023 11:11 PM

Also wasn't aware Andy stuck up for Skyy was this today? but if he did sure you have to keep his confidence and hope the wide receiver coach focuses on keeping his confidence up.

For what it’s worth Andy rarely throws any player under the bus publicly. But yeah, he needs to step up or be gone. I genuinely wonder what experts and even people like Steve Smith saw from him in college that has not translated into the NFL.

Dark Horse 10-31-2023 01:04 PM

It’s really puzzling, to miss on a draft pick well that happens but to come out of the offseason thinking he had taken a big step only to be wrong again that’s not like Andy and What’s his name starts with a V

According to the AP Editors podcast, Reid just offered the thing about Skyy out of the blue. He wasn't even asked about Skyy.

All the pundits bought into the "Skyy is ready to take a bid leap forward this year" hype. But where was any evidence? He didn't flash in preseason. I guess he's doing well in practice?

I was really hopeful they were right. But it was kind of like with Speaks, he never flashed once his first year. That's a bad sign.

At least Rice gives them a good example of what a rookie can do here. It’s clear now that the excuse for Moore’s awful 250 yard 0 TD rookie season was because there were too many mouths to feed ahead of him was always BS. If you’re good enough you’ll find a way to produce, at least if you’re a 2nd rd pick you should. Next time a rookie has that type of season it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re a bust but you also shouldn’t blindly trust they’ll figure it out.

In terms of Moore's on-field skill set, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah said he detects similarities to seven-time Pro Bowl receiver Antonio Brown.

"He's really dynamic and crisp," Jeremiah said of Moore during a conference call in late February.

Lol, here's one of those funny statistical mysteries. Somehow everyone (PFR, ESPN, etc.) has Skyy down for just one dropped pass in 2023. Guess I don't know the definition of a dropped pass. Always thought it was if a ball hit you in the hands and you . . . dropped it.

Did the Chiefs just totally blow their evaluation of Skyy and the assumption that he could make the leap from lower level college football to the NFL?

Borgonzi’s description from right after they drafted him is literally the exact opposite of what Skyy Moore is, 27 games into his career.

I still think NFL Draft Twitter is a MASSIVE echo chamber.

Anytime you see someone jump a couple rounds among the 'consensus' when no actual football has been played, I think you can presume that it's just a lot of people repeating someone else's work.

Now as for why the Chiefs missed it - I still point to the fact that they traded down as evidence that they were never as high on him as they portrayed. This isn't a team that's going to trade back if they see someone they truly like.

It's a Speaks situation. They badly wanted a WR in the 2nd round, thought they had some wiggle, made just a very small trade down and suddenly 3 more popped off the board. They just tried to game the board and it didn't work out for them.

So they took the best WR left on their board (which should've been Doubs, really - I'd have taken Austin III if I were hell bent on WR at that spot) and proceeded to rationalize it publicly.

I don't think for a minute the Chiefs were as elated with that pick as the fanbois were. And I don't think the fanbois were independent in their analysis of him either. I think they got caught up in a wave of momentum that never truly made sense and was little more than a bunch of guys copying someone else's (bad) homework.

I always wondered if they did not trade the pick who they would have drafted between Pickens, Pierce and Moore. If Pickens had too many red flags and was off their board or not.

A lot was coming up about Pickens pre draft and he was coming off of injury. And if I remember right he only did the 40 because he was coming off of injury.

Huh, I don't remember that name at all... surprised since he was a first round pick, but also 2011.

This was amusing though.

In week 2 of the 2011 NFL preseason Baldwin suffered a wrist injury after a locker room fight with teammate Thomas Jones that sidelined him for the rest of the 2011 preseason.

His behind-the-back catch that didn't happen epitomized the post-Vermeil pre-Reid era of Chiefs football.

You dont remember Jon Baldwin? LMAO Lay off the peyote, man.

Sassy Squatch 11-02-2023 12:20 PM

I'm honestly shocked Jon Baldwin even made it to 24 games.

AdolfOliverBush 11-02-2023 12:22 PM

I'm amazed that I'm right behind Moore in career receiving yards and touchdowns.

Which is Ironic because Carrington was Pro-Cassel back then.

I just don't like this guy and his name. Carrington. Was his dad Paddington bear and his mom some kind of day radio slut of a care bear? WTF is this name.
