The Chiefs have an offense unlike any other in the NFL. No team comes close to throwing the ball as much as KC. The chart below shows pass rate percentages on first and second down through the first three quarters (removing how score, down, and time influence playcalling).

The teams that put up the most points against the Niners were the Saints (48), the Rams (31), and the Falcons (29). All three of those teams rank inside the top SEVEN of most pass happy teams.

Yes, the Cards are better than the Raiders and Broncos. They're a decent team just super inconsistent

His point was that the actual shitty teams in the Chiefs’ division got their shit pushed in by the Chiefs.

It’s questionable that either of those teams are worse than the Cardinals. Same with the Chargers.

And let’s not act like 23-16 and 31-21 were fluke wins. KC controlled those games throughout the second halves and never trailed in the 4th in either one.

SEA is not a complete team. And they were one of the worst defenses in the league this season. How did the Niners offense not steam-roll that defense?

Exactly, you see through the BS noise. They are the best 5 win team in history, just look at all their talent!

It's weird. I keep hearing how we will not be able to stop the 49ers rushing attack, and about how we have been vulnerable to play action, which plays perfectly into the hands of RatFace Jr.

But, then they pick the Chiefs to win because of Mahomes. They make it sound like we don't belong on the field with San Francisco, but then pick us to win.

I can see a scenario where our defense will do something special on Sunday.

Looking at the stats and talent on both sides of the ball, the Niners are a more well-rounded team. They don’t need their QB to be special if they want to win.

They better hope they don't need Jimmy to do anything. If he can't throw TDs against the 25th worst secondary in the league . . . he's not going to do much against the 6th ranked secondary, that's for sure.

If you go into this game thinking "well X team needed a bad punt to score and that won't happen next Sunday..." I think you're whistling past the graveyard. Just assume that's gonna happen at least once next week because I see little cause to believe it won't. Colquitt's pretty much a liability at this stage of his career.

I agree Colquitt is no longer a great punter. However, the warm Miami air should help. But I want to see a young guy take over that position next year. Dustin needs to retire.

NO offense but Colquitt can ride the pine other than coming in to hold on extra points. Tell him to leave the passing to Mahomes, I don't wanna see another of his shitty throws.

In his defense, until about a tenth of a second before he actually threw it, he had no idea that he was going to be passing in that game . . .

The Cardinals are picking eighth and played five games against teams picking in front of them in the next draft. They went 3-1-1 in those games with a negative point differential (-5).

I'd listen to either this Sunday!!!

Jimmy G has basically taken the entire month of January off. By the time the Super Bowl gets here, he'll have thrown 27 pass attempts over the previous 5 weeks.

Could rust be a factor for ol' Jimmy? Mahomes threw the ball 70 times against Houston and Tennessee. :hmmm:

I’ve though about this as well. I definitely think it can affect things like timing and rhythm.

Ah, now there's an argument I haven't heard in a long time.

Not since the Alexonlyfans™ invaded this website, anyway.

That’s exactly what the TEN fans said. So stupid.

Interesting NextGen stat that says the Chiefs OL has been the NFL’s best at not allowing pressure within the first 3 seconds of a play: https://twitter.com/nextgenstats/sta...870714369?s=21

Chiefs allow a pressure within the first 3 seconds only 9.3% of the time. League average was 13.7%.

You can try to tell these mouth-breathers that this is actually one of the best pass-blocking OLs in football and they'll just grunt a bit and talk about 49er physical or some other such !@#$ing nonsense.

This really is a fantastic matchup. It's been said already on here, but if I were completely football agnostic, this would still be a game I'd be excited as hell to watch.

Fandom notwithstanding, this is as interesting a matchup as we've seen since Packers/Steelers about a decade ago.

Just a fascinating matchup.

pugsnotdrugs19 01-27-2020 04:42 PM

Mahomes is also 7-0 in his career against top 5 passing defenses — this is the stat I was trying to remember yesterday.

There’s weird ones like that going for both teams, we’ll see what holds up.

Lprechaun 01-27-2020 04:46 PM

I have this odd confidence , like when you get under a pop fly and there is no doubt you catch it, where to throw it to if needed. Like a calm, not a boastful confidence but an assured almost rote forgone conclusion of the outcome.
It's so strange from what we've felt in other big games.

Exactly!

Just one reason this offense carves up zone D so badly.

You'd be surprised how many hackers get jobs this way.

Right now...I’m not stressing. I’m sure I will be a couple of days before but the Titans game gave me more confidence in this team.

Your defense is tissue paper soft just like your rib eating fans and you’re gonna get steam rolled in da bowl. Better wait another 50 years to do something cool after you pay Mahomes 40 mill a year and can’t afford the rest of your team.

Niners baby 35-17 over the softeez

Hmm.. I remember I specifically quoting another poster. That you felt the need to be his bigg_mommy and hide him behind your apron strings is kinda cute I guess.

You’re football acumen is = to that of a soggy crouton or a MS paint drawing.

This is the worst thread we'd ever had leading up to a game.

OK. That's it. It's time for the Planet Picassos to break out the elephant in 49er's gear......

wachashi 01-27-2020 05:25 PM

The second tweet is easy money for this offense. Mahomes has the arm to throw it, our receivers have the speed to threaten deep, and the Oline is not giving up a pressure there on a quick throw like that.

Match 3 vs empty, oddly the 49ers don't often use the same Buzz call and defend the deep over but rather play a straight forward Cover 3.

Threaten outside CB, break off a route outside the numbers. We've travelled to forums for the Saints, Packers, Seahawks etc but the experience here is different. Someone comes in saying "Hi, I'm a 49er fan. It should be a great game" and the response is "Eat a dick".

Which is just kinda funny,

Jesus, just **** off already.
