Niners ability to make Pat uncomfortable with 4 while dropping 7 was impressive. Congrats to them.

Couple blown coverages and Pat delivered the two big plays. Jimmy had a good 3rd quarter but he is not the answer and clearly not trusted. It comes back to QB play. Why we were so confident going in.

You know what's sneaky great about this. Sort of the point we heard after the 24-0 comeback on Houston. Andy Reid and the coaches can easily tell the guys they did not play their best. Patrick in particular was nowhere close to his best stuff in this game. It's a great learning experience on a huge stage against a BADASS DEFENSE. He's only gonna get better from here.

Winning ugly helps you stay humble. I think that will be the case for Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs. I do hope Veach and Reid will try to help out the OL guys in the Draft. If we have a rematch with these dudes in the Super Bowl next year, you want to have stronger reinforcements to deal with that pass rush.

Feel bad for Marino. The two guys have a lot in common. Marino & Mahomes played QB at a higher level than anyone at such a very young age. Patrick gets his first ring in the Dolphins stadium, while Marino is never able to get a ring with the Dolphins. That's a major bummer.

My Gran passed away Wednesday night after a 2 week period where she was in and out of the hospital due to a brain bleed. Needless to say, I've been pretty depressed this past week or so as her condition rapidly declined. Didn't really care to watch anything Chiefs related. Even as the Super Bowl started I was still in this funk. That all changed in the 3rd quarter. I got ****ing pissed and my fandom came roaring back to life. Wanted to win this game like I've never wanted a Chiefs win before, and Reid, Mahomes, and the guys ****ing did it. God how ****ing lucky are we to have these guys representing our Chiefs.

Kyle Shanahan lost 46-0 in 4th quarter of Super Bowls against Brady/Mahomes. I know this forum hates Brady, but that is hilarious. Pretty appropriate given Kyle's connections to a Chiefs division rival.

Jimmy Grapes was 1/9 for 20 yards when pressured.

That’s the difference. Can you imagine how horrible he would have looked had he played his teams pass rush?

Meanwhile Mahomes went full Mahomes

I think the real turning point was going into a hurry up offense. I think it exposed a huge flaw in their defense. San Fran's pass rush is just all go go go. Not allowing them to have a breather in between plays gassed them really quick. Once they were gassed , it was all over.

Bet San Fran will see more hurry up offenses at times during games next year to try to wear down their pass rush.

FringeNC 02-03-2020 11:54 AM

When it was 7-3 and we were driving, Damien Williams should have caught that pass, right? I know he never located it, but had he, that was a TD, right?

This and your montage post absolutely deserve a separate thread.

The most surreal thing about all this is Mahomes played one of his worst games, easily the worst for the 1st 3 quarters, and they still won by 11. That is a hell of a team.

This. After the Blues won back in June, I was skipping everywhere I went. Was still grinning like an idiot when the hockey season started again. Didn't even notice what their record was until about four weeks ago. Just enjoyed watching them this season and kept saying, "these are your World Champion St. Louis Blues, baby."

I don't want to start a new thread about it in case it's been thoroughly discussed already, but I also don't want to try to track down the conversation wherever it might have happened.

But did anyone figure out what the deal was with the huge discrepancies between the first down chains on the sideline and the computer-generated first down line on the field, particularly in the 4th quarter?

Bell and Sherman absolutely wreck the edge of the defense on this play.

Just went through this in June when the Blues won the Stanley Cup. The grin wont go away until the next season starts, and even then you will still catch yourself doing it whenever thinking about plays from the game. :thumb:

Buddy showed me a screenshot last night he got at the all-star game

Rewatching the 4th quarter. With 10:30 to go, it really felt like they were DEAD. Jimmy was completing passes for first downs, etc. But then it just suddenly switched the other direction...KC defense went into lockdown mode and the offense woke up. Amazing finish.

Been in an amazing mood all day. Almost barfed at work cuz of shitty fast food breakfast and a hangover. Sad thing is, I only had like 6 drinks the entire night.

I'm running on E. I'll likely be out by half of the KU game. Well worth it.

That’s the difference. Can you imagine how horrible he would have looked had he played his teams pass rush?

Meanwhile Mahomes went full Mahomes

I read somewhere that we averaged over 8 yards per play when Pat was under pressure. That's insane if true.

It’s halftime again on NFL Network. I heard there was alot of prudes on Twitter who thought the halftime was bad because there was barely dressed women dancing around and it was bad for their kids or something. Those people need to pull the stick out of their ass.

Has to be frustrating as hell for the Niners. They did everything right. They held KC to only 10 points in 53 minutes. And then BOOM. 21-0 run in favor of KC to finish the last 7 minutes. CRAZY!

It’s what happens when the other team has a franchise QB who is literally God.
