Just got home from the bar.
Drunk. Exhausted. Hung out with Jeremy Guthrie and his dad, got a beer from Danny Duffy, high-fived Brandon Finnegan, and saved Josh Willingham's kid from getting his fingers chopped off in a fan outside the clubhouse tonight. I'll try to post some pics tomorrw, know i got Shields sipping from a champagne bottle and Finnegan hanging out with his parents. We got Yosted and it didn't even ****ing matter. Bulletproof! |
YOU GUYS

Anyone think George Brett is sad that the A's have eclipsed his 'shit your pants' anecdote?

Its 5am and I finally got back home in DSM.
That game was bananas. I'm going to go collapse in bed now. |

After he went back to shields, who had no idea how to get 2, 3 and 4 out... He HAD to get a lefty up and ready for moss in case he did exactly what he ended up doing (putting Fuld and Donaldson on). What he did was classic Ned bullpen shit that honestly should've cost us a playoff game. It was tragically bad. No manager other than Ned does that. Literally every other manager goes Duffy or Finnegan there. You don't ignore splits in a playoff game. |
Congrats, that was one helluva game! Nothing better than watching your team find a way.

Between Monday Night and this Royals victory, your voice and liver must be sore! :D |
It looks like the game is being replayed at 10 on MLB Network.

Was at the game.
Got home at 02:30 at work now. Very very tired but what a game. |
Every post delays this thread's HOC induction. But, **** it.
This is the kind of game you rack up and watch again on a cold winter day years from now. |
Still pretty much speechless.
|
Man, I had this crazy dream last night that the Royals came back from 4 down, went into extras, lost the lead again...
|
Damn I am tired but it was worth it

I still can't believe it. I'm just glad it wasn't some crazy as dream.

I woke up about the time I'm typically getting ready to walk out the door to head to work. I some how made it but, I'm still a little drunk. Thankfully I don't operate heavy machinery.

I was listening to the radio call. When Yo gave up the 3 run dong, I shut it off saying "This isn't worth losing sleep over". My wife wakes me up at midnight saying "THEY WON!"
Best 48 hours in KC Sports history? |

JUST found out the Royals won. Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Just got back to Des Moines. Even after a 3 hour drive, I still can accurately describe just how amazing it was to witness that game.

Sunday:
Chiefs game at 3:25 Royals at 6:37. |
I'm fixing to read the thread now (all 73 pages at 50 posts per page) and can only imagine how some of it may read.
What an epic couple of sports days. Left home at 1030 Monday for the Monday night game and got home about 4am this morning (stayed in KC Monday night). Gonna be a long day.... Couldn't take today off, but I'm gonna be about productive as a eunuch in a whorehouse. |

I really wish I had been there, but just started a new job and am in training, no way I could get out of it. But I watched the game with a friend that came over last night. Amazing game! We nabbed a couple SRO tickets for Sunday at around 3 AM last night.

I'm only on page 32 (of 74 now) but this thread is quite entertaining.
*Though I will readily admit I pretty much said, "**** it" last night after the 7th. I told the Mrs, "If you're ready, we can head home. We both have to work in the morning anyway." She said, "Nope...if they did happen to come back and win you would be pissed at the world for leaving early and you would be impossible to live with and I would probably have to shoot you in your sleep.....we're staying" |
I just still cannot believe this happened.

re watching it on MLB this am...

You don't even make sense. |
Is now a good time to point out that Wil Myers hit .222 this year with 6 HRs and Odorizzi had a 4.13 ERA?

Dude I always have known you are delusional, but damn you are one whacked out strange ****tard.... |
You said you gave up on them. Are you lying now and pretending you didn't?
Just take a stand and stick with it. Show some spine for once. |

Where did I say I was going and flying to the ALDS from Phoenix? ****ing make sense for a change you reeruned delusional bastard... |
As long as you don't watch the games then your point about giving up on them was sincere, and I can respect that. We can agree on that, right?

Really glad I took this morning off from work.
I needed the sleep. I needed the recovery. What a night. Wow. Watching the replay of the game on MLB Network. It just hit the 8th inning. This should be fun. By the way, if you weren't a believer in Brandon Finnegan before last night, I imagine you are now. What a performance from the rookie, who in March was coming off a 5-11 sophomore season at TCU and now is being compared to David Price (in terms of role if not stature). That kid is the real deal. |
Still want to sign Kennedy rather than put Fin in the rotation?
I guess there's doubt Duffy can go an entire season. Still, he's in the rotation if I'm DM |
Quote:
I like having rotation depth. Would much rather see Finnegan be the Royals. No. 6 starter at the beginning of the year, for control purposes and for injury/suckage insurance. Duffy and Ventura SHOULD be good to pitch about 200 innings next year, as should Vargas and Guthrie. But I like insurance. EDIT: But I will say... every time I see Finnegan pitch, I become more OK with the idea of him as the 5th starter next season. |
Couple thoughts as I get ready to go to work (thank God I took the morning off).
I agreed with most of Ned's decisions last night, but I strongly disagreed with one very crucial decision in the middle of the game. I think you all know which one. I'm not opposed to bringing Ventura into a playoff game to lock it down, but I don't think that was the time. Shields was supposed to be the man, he had a good 5th inning, his pitchcount was fine, and he didn't look THAT bad in the 6th. Whatever, we got away with it, and I agreed with the bunting shenanigans and insane running that he was calling for late in the game. I just KNEW we were going to win the game in the bottom of the 9th, 10th, and 11th innings. I just knew were we gonna drive in that runner from third. In the 12th inning when we had the game tied after Gordon was out, I no longer knew what was going to happen. I didn't really think we were going to stop playing baseball. Right before we won, I thought I was trapped in baseball purgatory and damned to watch this never-ending game forever. |
