Stacked card starts on FS1 in a half hour

TribalElder 12-13-2014 06:34 PM

Damn those girls are throwing hands

alnorth 12-13-2014 07:01 PM

Oh hey, this one's on Big FOX, not FS1.

3 heavyweight fights, and a lightweight fight.

TribalElder 12-13-2014 07:03 PM

Just flipped over after fs1 went monster trucks

Demonpenz 12-13-2014 07:11 PM

it is on the fox mother ship. Not FS1

alnorth 12-13-2014 07:14 PM

Diaz missed weight by a whopping 4.5 pounds. He forfeits 20% of his purse and will not be eligible for bonuses tonight.

TribalElder 12-13-2014 07:25 PM

How is silva going to come back

Dude looked like gumby last fight LMAO

Demonpenz 12-13-2014 07:26 PM

That was a tight left. Tight moves.

TimBone 12-13-2014 07:46 PM

Was that Struve's first fight back since his heart condition?

alnorth 12-13-2014 08:04 PM

Hey, bald shouting men, you don't need to sell me on UFC 182, I'm already in. Shut up and drag out Nate Diaz to face his execution.

alnorth 12-13-2014 08:19 PM

Diaz is gonna get straight murdered next round

alnorth 12-13-2014 08:26 PM

Diaz's corner should think about stopping. He can't win.

TribalElder 12-13-2014 08:28 PM

My leg hurts just watching

How is he still standing on it

alnorth 12-13-2014 08:30 PM

holy smokes, that leg already looks bad. Its gonna look like hell after the bruising fully develops.

Brock 12-13-2014 08:31 PM

Diaz is a tough sumbitch

bsroyals54 12-13-2014 08:33 PM

Diaz said "come on pussy" at the end

TribalElder 12-13-2014 08:34 PM

Damn that was rough

I surprised the ref didn't stop it a few different times LMAO

I got it 30-25

bsroyals54 12-13-2014 08:37 PM

always throws me off when i see these professional fighters fight then in the post game interview they have a funny accent which discards any badassery there was during the fight

alnorth 12-13-2014 08:46 PM

This has been a nice card so far, pretty much meeting expectations. Hasn't been amazing or disappointing, pretty much what I expected. Diaz's disgruntled lazy ass got torn apart, we had a couple fun heavyweight fights, now time for the great main event.

BigCatDaddy 12-13-2014 08:55 PM

Love Ciganos entrance.

TribalElder 12-13-2014 09:01 PM

Leg kick come on leg kick ROFL

Demonpenz 12-13-2014 09:03 PM

the cool runnings of fight card

TribalElder 12-13-2014 09:06 PM

In that nos commercial they show an old man, then rewind to a kid drinking a can of nos saying you only live once.... So drinking nos accelerates your life to its completion? :hmmm:

BigCatDaddy 12-13-2014 09:07 PM

Dos Santos doesnt last 5.

alnorth 12-13-2014 09:09 PM

I'm not even scoring this fight, it won't go to a decision.

alnorth 12-13-2014 09:17 PM

Maybe I should be scoring it, both fighters are gassed. How do yall have it through 3? JDS obviously won round 3, what about the first 2?

2-1 Stipe.

bsroyals54 12-13-2014 09:24 PM

They will score it toward JDS at the end because the crowd makes more noise when he connects punches

TribalElder 12-13-2014 09:24 PM

Tonight's fights are pretty enjoyable

Much better than the last ppv we ordered lol

These two giants slugging it out can't belei its going 5 rounds

alnorth 12-13-2014 09:24 PM

38-38 I think going into the 5th

BigCatDaddy 12-13-2014 09:25 PM

3-1 Stipe.

BigCatDaddy 12-13-2014 09:29 PM

3-2 Miocic. Round 4 is the key as it was the closest.

bsroyals54 12-13-2014 09:29 PM

Stipe clearly won

TribalElder 12-13-2014 09:30 PM

Draw

alnorth 12-13-2014 09:30 PM

That round was incredibly close. I have no idea who won. It should be a SD. 48-47, 48-47, 47-48.

TribalElder 12-13-2014 09:31 PM

Tonight's ufc action on fox was good for their brand

That was one of the better events I recall watching

TribalElder 12-13-2014 09:31 PM

Fix was in LMAO

bsroyals54 12-13-2014 09:31 PM

What?

BigCatDaddy 12-13-2014 09:32 PM

Bullshit decision

bsroyals54 12-13-2014 09:33 PM

Are you kidding me, JDS had one good round, his face was a bloody mess the entire fight

He undoubtably won round 3, and probably won 4. 5th looked even.

A couple refs apparently had one of the first 2 for JDS also, but this wasn't a robbery.

One of the judges said he won 4 out of the 5 rounds, they weren't watching the same fight, they only heard the crowd noise when JDS hit him obviously

All he had in 4 was the trip. They must have put a lot into that.

I don't know about robbery, but at least petty theft on 49-46 scores.

I agree that JDS probably didn't win 4 rounds, but he easily could have won 3, so I'm fine with the decision itself.

I had 1, 2 for Miocic and 3, 4 for JDS with 5 being close to even. So, either fighter was entitled to a decision in my eyes.

Molitoth 12-13-2014 09:39 PM

What a great fight!

alnorth 12-13-2014 09:40 PM

Next week's fight in Brazil isn't quite as stacked as this great card was, but it'll have lots of interesting fights to close out the year.

I agree. 5th was fairly even, but I thought JDS had the edge and was not surprised at all by the outcome.

Demonpenz 12-13-2014 10:06 PM

rigged.

raybec 4 12-14-2014 05:26 AM

The main event was quite entertaining. Miocic really put himself in the conversation as a top HW. He gave JDS all he could handle

Bufkin 12-14-2014 05:38 AM

Does Dan "The Beast" Severn still fight?

LiveSteam 12-14-2014 10:44 AM

I saw it different I guess. I believe Miocic had 2 take downs. & just beat the the tar out of JDS. JDS got in a few bombs in the 4th & 5th. He didn't out box Mio. & he didn't have any take downs that I seen

alnorth 01-02-2015 10:26 AM

Jon Jones vs DC is tomorrow, y'all!

In other news, Dana White announced that Conor McGregor will get a title shot if he beats Siver.

I hope McGregor gets the shot..I like watching him fight

Its too early to tell before the Siver fight, but there are a lot of rumors today that the title shot could happen in Dublin. They think they could get an enormous gate for a McGregor title fight in Ireland, selling out a 90,000-seat arena. They would obviously have to pay Aldo a lot to defend his title in such an obviously-hostile territory, probably with a promise of an instant rematch somewhere else if he lost.

alnorth 01-02-2015 01:29 PM

Quick note to state the obvious: despite this picture, DC and Jones are not the same height. Jones is tall, DC is short and big.

I think Jones wins a decision.

Can't wait for it though. Should be a good one.

jonzie04 01-02-2015 01:51 PM

I'm pumped for this fight and i'm not even that into MMA. But man this card is complete shit beyond the main event lol. the UFC would have been ****ed if either JBJ or Cormier had to pull out again.

alnorth 01-02-2015 01:54 PM

The weigh-ins are going to be 6pm central tonight on Fox Sports 2. I forget how long it takes to weigh a full card, but I assume that DC and Jones will weigh-in at about 6:30 or so

The co-main is also very good. Cowboy Cerrone is one of the most popular fighters in the UFC, and it is very fun to watch that crazy kicking redneck fight. On the other side, Jury is "undefeated" (not counting his TUF loss). If Cowboy wins again, there's going to be an awful lot of pressure for him to get a title shot.

There are a couple other potential good fights on the main card, but for the wider mass audience, the last two fights are really the ones people are going to care about.

The prelims on the other hand.... yeah, I'll have it on the TV and I'm sure there will be some fun knockouts or something, but I'm not looking forward to any of those fights.

kcxiv 01-02-2015 01:59 PM

Ill be watching no doubt about it.

There are enough great fighters out there to put together a better card than this. Greed is the big thing with Dana and Zuffa. No news there. We need more competition.

I've seen Cerrone fight a few times (one of them being the pettis fight) he's a pretty fun dude to watch. I didn't know he was that good, but looking his record up thats quite a winning streak. I stand corrected, that is a nice co main event.

Yeah, I've noticed that they will try to stack up the card when the main event can't sell the card by itself, but when they have a potential huge superfight, then they usually don't really fill out the event much at all. They try to save all the good 2nd-tier fights for the PPV events that need them to sell.

This backfired badly on Zuffa when Cain had to pull out of the Mexico City PPV last year, then the card really had nothing else to fall back on and no reason to watch it, so they had to cobble together some interim championship fight to drum up any interest at all.

At least this time around we have a very good fight to back up the main event, Cowboy and Jury could easily headline any Fight Night even on FOX, and its a worthy PPV co-main.

Yea, I will pay to watch this one. I missed the Lawler fight. I always liked that guy.

alnorth 01-02-2015 02:35 PM

UFC 184 on Feb. 28th is the polar opposite of this event. They don't have a superfight to sell it, so they stacked it way the hell up to the point where its still pretty much a must-buy event for me. (UFC 183 is garbage if anyone is wondering)

184 will have 2 championship fights, an awesome heavyweight fight, and a very good middleweight fight. A couple of the prelims also have some known fighters.

Lauzon vs. Iaquinta is on 183. I'll tune in anytime Lauzon fights.

thabear04 01-02-2015 06:08 PM

Don't know the rest of guys beside the main fight.

alnorth 01-02-2015 06:34 PM

Everyone made weight except for some random chick from the early prelims.

Hilarious moment in the weigh-in for the main event: before the weigh-in the NV State Athletic Commission warned both fighters that if there is a scuffle or conflict in the weigh-in, then whoever started it would forfeit their entire purse and not get paid for the fight.

So, faced with that threat, they didn't stare down, Jones turned to his right and stood facing the crowd, and DC turned to his right and stood facing away.

Holy crap, Cowboy says he spent about $20,000 on his training camp for UFC 182

Quote:

"It cost me $20,000," Cerrone said about his recent training camp. "That's not like coaches, that's strictly bringing guys in, flights, like bringing guys in from the east coast is $1000 round trip, feeding them, paying them so yeah right around $20,000. This was a little more expensive just because I have the new facility and decided to bring a lot more guys in."
regarding that "new facility", over the last few years Cowboy has won so many fight of the night and knockout of the night bonuses, that he built his own gym on his ranch.

Do you know of that means he's been spending less time with Jackson and Winklejohn's camp down in New Mexico?

I can hardly sleep this card is so great. Cerrone is championship material and Jury is a legitimate undefeated fighter.

As for the Cormier/Jones fight, I can't think of a more intriguing main event in UFC history. Mir/Lesnar maybe? This one could literally go any possible way and I wouldn't be surprised.

I'll take Cerrone by unanimous decision, and Cormier by TKO in the 2nd round.

In hindsight Diaz beating Cerrone is pretty surprising.
