We were primarily fishing for small mouth bass and I didn't catch my first one until the 3rd day. After that the fishing was pretty decent. I caught the 2nd largest of the group at 4 lbs, 2 oz (see photo in post 672). Despite the bad weather, we had a great time and wish I was still there.

Here's a few more photos.

I guessed high on post 672, but the fat one second from left had to have been 5 pounds.

Looks like you were being hammered pretty good with rain in that one shot, northern weathers can be a bitch, but i'm sure you'll agree with my cousin who always said... its all just a part of the experience.

It was actually smaller...around 3 lbs. If you look closely you'll see that I'm holding it away from my body so it looks bigger. Here's the exact same fish held closer to my body.

A very happy Fathers Day to everyone here, hope it was good to you.

Mine couldnt have been much better, soaking up the sun standing in about 3 feet of water casting to the shaded area underneath a bridge, nonstop action for about 2 hours... bass, catfish, perch, bluegill... everything wanted a piece of my live minnows. Nothing was over 2 & a half pounds, but it was nonstop, a great great day.

Now i'm soaking up some suds & ordering a pizza later, hope everyone is having as good of a day... and might i add a big thank you to everyone sharing their experiences, pics & stories here.

Where did you go? Personally I don't typically prefer fishing with live bait.

A creek that runs off the illinois river, 10-20 feet wide depending where you go & it ranges from 1' to 6' deep, its the cleanest water anywhere near me, you can see the bottom at 4'.

Yeah, i know live bait isnt considered very sophisticated & sporting in some circles, cheating as it were, but i'm finding that nothing beats the real, fish were chasing them almost right up to my legs today.

That's awesome. It sounds like the kind of place I would love to take my fishing kayak. I just got it about a month ago and I love it. Awesome for small ponds and creeks/rivers.

Crazy. I feel bad for that fish though. Must have been 50 years old.

Kinda torn about it myself, taking a prime monster like that out of the world could be considered a very, very selfish thing to do.

But as a person who loves fishing, it'd be incredibly hard to pass it up, what a fight it must've been, almost drowned the guy.

Though since he was bowfishing there was pretty much no choice but to keep it, it probably wasnt going to live long with a big arrow hole in it.

My father and I took a trip down to Galveston this weekend and spent 12 hours offshore. Hot, humid, and windy. Totally worth it! 30" long 13lb Red Snapper. 3 smaller Reds and 2 Atlantic Sharp-nose Sharks

Hopefully you cooked those babies to perfection, only had snapper once, but it was killer.
