Come on. Do you really think that's even remotely banworthy? People say a lot of stupid things here. Bambi is an expert at it. But come on.

Surely he was banned for something else.

I agree, it's hard to know these days.

I don't think it was any more stupid than dozens of posts every day at this site. The only thing I question about it was whether or not we know that the accuser was white. If we were a news organization, I guess we'd want to include "alleged" in there somewhere, but we're not really a news organization.

Was there? I hate OU, I'd guess if anything people may be tired of Alabamas dominance and the idea it was automatic they would win.

Now, about the question posed that still hasn't been answered: Why do Mizzou fans root for Bama football and Florida basketball but not the Denver Broncos? Where is the AFC West "pride"?

It was an honest question. I assume the big 12 is doing well and the SEC isn't. Given your post, I assume Florida won, but I couldn't tell you who else from the SEC is in the tourney (other than MU is not).

TribalElder 03-22-2014 06:55 PM

Kentucky, and they might go back to back to back ncaa kansas university defeats tomorrow

Eleazar 03-22-2014 07:27 PM

Tennessee is still in, they play Mercer tomorrow. Kentucky will be playing Wichita State.

Florida has advanced to the round of 16 and will play the winner of UCLA and Stephen F. Austin.

Gotcha. I assumed you were rooting for SEC teams in the tournament as other Mizzou fans are doing. If someone on CP posted that we should all rally behind our division foes (AFC West pride baby!) as they advanced in the playoffs they'd be laughed off. Yet Mizzou fans now do the same exact thing.

Well, you have to note that in between was the NIT last year where they lost first round. Even Mizzou didn't sink that low.

kchero 03-23-2014 09:51 AM

PB isn't obsessed with Mizzou, I mean when you post more in this thread than the KU thread, while they are still in the tournament it clearly demonstrates this.

Funny how PB talks about Mizzou fans cheering for the SEC, when his and Bambi's mouth was so full of OU cock when they beat Alabama in Jan.

But yeah, only Mizzou fans cheer for other teams. PB never cheers for anyone other than KU...especially in football...

As a Mizzou fan, I don't. I think their run over the last two years is a good story, and good for college basketball. I am cheering for them as an underdog, or, in the case of this year, as a team that has gotten much respect...but not as passionately as I would for Mizzou. I also won't bat an eye or feel bad if WSU loses.

No, they've been a great story the last couple of seasons. I've enjoyed watching them build their story up.

Now if Wichita State had a couple of fans like Prison Bitch and Wickedson show up around these parts, the opinion of WSU might change for the Mizzou fans on this board.

Thanks. I just wasn't sure because of the whole border thing. I think the only people that hate that team are those threatened by them going undefeated. It mostly comes from some fans of the power teams it seems.

Gov. Nixon apologized to Billiken fans for the bracket pick and said that they are great fans. As a sign of further condolence, he said that he did pick Kansas to lose early, too. According to his bracket, which he tweeted Tuesday, he has Kansas going out in the Sweet 16 to Syracuse.

It makes 0 sense for Mizzou to face SLU right now. There is no recruiting benefit for Mizzou at all.

SLU wants to play Mizzou in a home-and-home. Mizzou won't agree to that, as they play in St. Louis once a year.

Mizzou gets the advantage of hosting SEMO and not having to worry about a home-and-home.

Mizzou could have the same advantage with Missouri State, but they still refuse to play because MSU won at the Hearnes Center 15 years ago. It's all about self-preservation.

Your school has been offered one-shot games in Columbia - like what SEMO and UMKC and SIU-E have accepted - and has turned them down.

Missouri is willing to play any in-state school that will come to Mizzou Arena. Even SLU.

It's when the in-state mid-majors start demanding a home-and-home that things break down.

SEMO, UMKC and SIU-E have not beaten Mizzou at all (or at least in recent memory). Keep in mind that Mizzou's loss to MSU was in the preseason NIT, so Mizzou had no choice. I assume the home and home thing is a standing offer from some time ago, but we don't really need it. Arkansas, Oklahoma State, and other major programs are and have been willing to visit JQH.

If it were up to me, I'd accept the one-off in Columbia.

I think you're chalking up way too much to one game - three coaches and one athletic director ago.

I know Missouri has told ADs at SMS, SLU, SEMO, UMKC, other local schools (SIU, SIU-E) that the Tigers always have room for a home game against their school.

The Bills and the Bears just aren't OK with anything less than a home-and-home. It's that demand that keeps the games from happening. Well, that and the fact that the Bills and Bears only make noise about wanting to play 2-3 times a decade.

Weren't too many SLU fans begging to play Mizzou in 11-12, for example. They only want to play that game when they think they could win.

Mizzou has been far from enthusiastic about playing Missouri State, even back when we first moved to D-I and were more willing to play Mizzou exclusively in Columbia. This kind of behavior isn't exclusive to Mizzou - Arkansas refuses to play Arkansas State in anything, Alabama undercuts UAB's football program by holding back funds and preventing certain hires (Jimbo Fisher being the most well known), etc.

In some ways, it makes more sense for us to try and get a semi-regular series going with Arkansas - they're closer and have more fans/alumni in the area. Tulsa also draws a good crowd when they visit.

Since you live in SD you probably don't know this but, the opposing coach in that game used to be at KU and many of us don't like him. You probably don't follow these things very closely but there's some bad blood towards UNC.

Riiiight, I'm sure it had absolutely nothing to do with the "conference pride" that you criticize Mizzou fans for. :thumb:
