Yep. First time could be explained away given the weather conditions and Luke and Arrax being young and inexperienced.

But this time? In broad daylight? On a mostly open battlefield? Against a seasoned dragon and dragon rider?

I think they’d have been better off showing a straight up fight between Meleys and Vhagar. Vhagar is like twice her size but that’s OK. She is old and not as quick. I’d have preferred a crafty fight from Meleys that ends the same than another surprise attack. It’s getting a bit hard to believe at this point.

Especially when I’m finding info online that the producers are saying Vhagar is 492 feet long LMAO that means her wingspan would be closer to two football fields.

That’s totally unrealistic but whatever.. if that’s true in-universe, it simply cannot get lost on the battlefield multiple times.

Sure feels like a play for the throne. If his brother dies, he was too late because his dragon was unpredictable. If his brother wins he's just letting him spin a heroic tale for the bards.

Book did it better. While Meleys was fighting Sunfyre, Vhagar comes streaking in and delivers a kill shot. There was an actual distraction that allowed Vhagar to get into the fray largely undetected

I’m not sure why they chose to portray it the way that they did, but I’m guessing they wanted to make the spectacle of Rhaenys’ death its own thing instead of combining it with Aemond’s betrayal.

Why does it feel like they leave Aemond's actions kind of ambiguous? Like I'm not 100% convinced that he wanted to kill Aegon even though it obviously appears that he did

It mostly felt to me like Aegon got caught in the crossfire, and then Aemond was going to put him out of his misery.

I kind of wish we got a shot of Aegon's charred, groaning face right before the credits. I read the wiki entry and apparently his armor melts into his skin :spock:

Also do they ever go into detail about if dragons heal well? Can they provide them medical care? That slash to Sunfyre's chest looked like game over from the get go.

No one thought to bring a ****ing Scorpion to the battlefield, just in case?

Ser Criston didn't have time for that he was busy avoiding being the hand by running away into battle.

Aemond is way too smart not to have known that intentionally delaying his attack and letting Aegon charge into battle on his own was going to be bad news for Aegon. He has plausible deniability after delivering the killshot plus he can take credit for killing Rhaenys and her dragon as well. He's definitely making a play for the throne.

I am certain the minute Aemond saw his dipshit brother flying into combat that his #1 objective was to make sure Aegon wasn't coming out of this alive. I think that was more important than killing his aunt and her dragon at that point.

Aegon has tormented Aemond from the time he was a child all the way up to a few days before this.

He's also smart and realizes how much easier it would be if he was king and didn't have to worry about Aegon doing something idiotic and losing the war.

I guess it just kind of blows my mind because kin slaying is so taboo, and he didn't even mean to kill Lucerys.

So why did Rhaenys seemingly want to get herself and the dragon killed? Seems like a pretty irresponsible use of your dragon resource.
