This was the most obvious telegraph of the presser. If we keep all the 7th rounders, we're taking a couple of RB's. Forget us taking Spiller earlier in the draft. He could also be hyping the possibilities of RB in the 7th round for when he packages a 7th or 2 to move up at some point.

Interesting to hear him say that the spot they might move up to is 18-21 and pretty much completely ruled out moving up into the top 10.

Wouldn’t bank on that. Last year he talked about 1st rd prospects then traded the pick for Brown Jr like 2 hours after the call

Mahomes didn't scout and he definitely didn't make the selection. And really, the text they said asking him who he'd pick wasn't even asking for his input. It was a "Oh neat, cool, our star QB will like this pick" thing.

Mahomes is not our GM, but he is the franchise, and they shouldn't shy away from letting him take on (reasonable) leadership opportunities that don't go beyond making decisions.

Throwing him these kinds of bones early is his career is how you avoid the shit-show the Packers are going through in GB.

Lie to him if you have to. Tell him he's the reason you took a guy you were definitely going to take anyway. Make him feel involved.

It doesn't mean you have to go full LeBron and give him the keys to the stadium or anything, but keep him in the loop. The Saints with Drew Brees were always really good about that sort of thing. It builds trust and buy-in with the organization.

Kadarius Toney being shopped.

Now I'm guessing that's the Giants seeing the $$$ being given to WRs and thinking they may be able to maximize his value here and get him moved for a 2.

But if we could get him for one of those later 3s I think you have to strongly consider it. He'd come w/ 4 years left on his deal if you factor in the 5th year option; same team control as a 3rd rounder would have. And his price would be relatively low for most of it as any signing bonus accelerates onto NYGs cap.

I think I definitely pick up the phone anyway.

3rd to NYG for Toney, 4th to JAX for Shenault. Profit.
