The secrets to winning a Royals GDT you ask?
Well, http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rPKq2S4Lyl...Bred%2Bsox.jpg http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/b...03/7067662.jpg |
The Astros hit 5 homers today. Trumbo of Arizona has 5 already. We are still looking for our first.

With our luck, I'm almost convinced at this point if we'd kept Myers he'd be a .280, 9 HR guy.
|
Quote:
Can he play 3B with those awesome stats!? |

Problem is if these other guys don't hit Butler's not going to get any pitches. |

So I bought a $25 stitched one from Korea. Numbers/Name look great but the KC Royals arm patch is pretty bad. So anyone looking really close knows I'm cheap. The jersey you ask? Yea, Moustakas. Glad I'm only out $25. |

So y'all know: I mentioned it in today's game thread, but I plan to use my 3,333rd post to start tomorrow's game thread against the Rays. I might not get it posted right at midnight, but since it's an evening game, timing shouldn't be an issue.
|
Missed todays game, was playing some ball at a tournament. Saw that Esky FINALLY got his first. How'd Valencia play?

Myers going yard at the K before anyone on the Royals hits a HR in '14 would be so Kansas City.
|
Spent upwards of 10 minutes Photoshopping this, so I didn't want it buried in a game thread.. :D

Just hope he isn't pressed into playing a lot of games against RH starters... which means Moustakas has to start hitting. From what I've seen so far, the shortened, quicker stroke I saw in spring training seems to have been left in Arizona. Disappointing, but I think anyone who had some optimism about Moustakas was taking it with a grain of salt. |
I think the shift that's being used against him mind****ed him to the max.
If he could have just gotten a little traction with some success, then a different defensive approach might not have affected his dome, but alas. And, yep, that's how mentally fragile I believe Mouse is right now and was entering the regular season. He just needed something positive to happen to allow him to believe in himself. |

No ability guys are ones that sizzle at AAA and fizzle from the start and forever at MLB (Recently Gio). He showed ability for a pretty good stretch and 20 HRs is nothing to sneeze at. Since then, he's shown relatively nothing. I think that speaks to his mental approach. But you can only wait so long for a guy's mental approach to change. And sometimes it won't. I think his time is running out. |

I think Moose has talent. Of this I'm certain. But he's a defeated player right now. Hell, look at a guy like Salvy. His discipline at the plate is just ****ing terrible. But he has tremendous hands and he has more confidence than just about anyone in the park. So he's a stud, and he's a stud largely because he's determined that this is what he's going to be. Great baseball players are arrogant mother****ers on the diamond. |
Moose has monster power. It's there. It's why I don't want them to give up on him yet. But if he doesn't getter better they are going to have to go with Valencia soon.
It's only been a week though. Baseball's a weird game. Remember Hosmer looked lost the whole first two months last year and only hit like 1 HR... then flipped a switch and took off. |

He does. He's got a heavy bat - when he makes contact, it jumps. But making contact has always been his issue, and this level only magnifies it. We really don't have any choice but to keep rolling his butt out there and hoping he does .250-20-70. He's one of our few potential power bats so you might as well play him. |
Have they tried planting cacti and releasing a few rattlesnakes in front of the K to make Moose feel at home in AZ?

Bueno and Tiny Tim head to the DL, Donnie Joseph and Mariot called up.

I think Moustakas is a huge game waiting to happen at this point.

Hope Infante just misses a few days

I can't watch the game tomorrow. I have to go do stuff in public, like a dinner meeting with my friends. :( |

I'll take Wednesday's. |
Remember last year when we were moaning about Cleveland's weak schedule while we were trying to catch them?
Well, we're coming up on one of those stretches ourselves and we must capitalize. After these next 2 against TB, our next 9 games are all against Minnesota/Houston. Am hoping to split these 2 against TB and win 7/9 against those teams, which would put us at 11-6 on our way to Cleveland/Baltimore. |

Christian Colon, come on down
|
what's the precedent for a broken jaw? how long would he be out?
|
Quote:
I mean, does a jaw really impact your ability to play baseball? Couldn't you wear a facemask or something? |
Why couldn't this have happened to Butler?

If Butler couldn't chew for a month he'd probably commit suicide.
EDIT: This joke works because Butler is fat. |

I almost feel sorry for Moose at this point. Still hoping he turns it on, hoping. But Billy is making 8M and he looks like he's continuing to regress from 2012.
|
Good thing we got rid of Bonifacio.
|
So is Valencia going to stick to 2nd base or nah?

So, Colon or Johnny G?
|
Salvy has 6 walks in 24 PA's.
Last year he had 21 in 517. Obviously he won't keep this pace up, but this is incredibly encouraging... Previously, the plate discipline was his only weakness at the plate. oh... and I keep reminding myself that the kid is only 23 years old... jesus what a treat. |
So, I went to bed before Infante was hit because I'm old. Did the pitch get away from him or was there intent? Cassel supporting Bob Fescoe was blasting Bell this morning for it, so I'm just wondering.

And considering Bell's post game comments, it was obvious he felt really bad about it. |

Donald played really well during the spring and gives them a legitimate backup at SS. Not sure how much they believe in his bat. Can't believe nobody has mentioned the biggest problem with Infante being hurt... the itch you known Ned is getting to bat Alcides Escobar 2nd. |

donald would be fine if this is a short term thing...but if infante is missing a month or more - think you need a replacement that can swing the bat a little bit. I'd love to finally see what the **** is up with Colon. |
Coincidentally, Donald was the last Royal I saw hit a home run.
|
Quote:
I don't know there's much else up with Colon. (Seriously, though, he did hit well down the stretch in Omaha, and I'd much rather see him hitting 2 than Escobar) |
