I find it hard to believe we're not going to sign a few more veterans, or at least hoping we do. Then 8 draft picks since we're throwing out the 7th rounders.

We have 76 under contract right now. Go look at how many of those are on 1 year contracts or aren't starters. That should tell you what you need to know.

Spoiler alert? We have 22 under contract in 2023. And one of those is getting cut in Frank Clark. So really we have 21.

I understand, not sure how that matters for 2022? I'd rather package picks, trade up and have a higher chance of hitting on players than using all 12 picks. That's all I'm saying. Add on the fact that we've already got 76 players under contract THIS year.

I can't wait for Bill Barnwell's trade proposals for teams trying to trade for Debo

Because the NFL isn't ending after the 2022 season. Trading up doesn't mean you have a higher chance of hitting. It just means that you have less chances of finding talent.

That's a little more than Hill if you look closely. So he will want over the 72 mil guaranteed. Hill's average is 30 but that for the full 4. First 3 it's like 24.1.

Interesting that people claim to know what he's asking for when he HASN'T EVEN ENGAGED with the Niners.

I mean statistics don't match with what you said. Albeit, older articles.

In 2012, retained draft choices accounted for 6,577 games started, which means 58.3 percent of games were represented by players who had been originally drafted by their respected organizations. A truly large number at first glance.

When you think about how many players are selected in Rounds 4 through 7 and subsequently cut before the season even starts, it helps you understand how top-heavy teams are. Based on the numbers provided by Draftmetrics, 71.8 percent of players drafted in Rounds 1, 2 and 3 are retained by the team that drafted them.

Only 28.2 percent of players drafted in Rounds 4, 5, 6 and 7 were retained at the end of their first contract—which is a number that is largely supported by an abundance of fourth-round picks re-upping. Rounds 5, 6 and 7 made up 16.7 percent of the 28.2 percent total.

First, picking at the end of the second round only gives your team a 50% chance of finding a starter. Going towards the end of the round 3, your chance of finding a starter falls to ~30%

The median percentage of games started for players drafted in rounds 4 through 7 from the 2010 draft was extremely low, never rising above 7% of games played over the last 5 years.

I mean, we already knew that. Draft picks are a premium and we're fortunate that Steach was once again ahead of the curve.

I'm guessing the Frank Clark situation has been a HUGE learning experience for the entire FO.

MahomesMagic 04-20-2022 01:34 PM

If we didn't want to pay Tyreek 25 million, I would have been surprised if we wanted to pay Deebo 25 a a year.

Chiefs would probably need to sweeten that up a bit with a day 2 2023 pick
