Absolute best thing ever is that I made this in November 2022...BEFORE he lost to the Bengals.

Yeah -- Allen can clear like $15 million in cap space by restructuring. They can clear another $8 million or so by cutting Von Miller.

They'll try to find another WR. And they'll definitely need to give CB some attention -- Rasul Douglas is a FA and they were a trainwreck behind Benford (and who the hell knows what he's got going forward).

But the funny thing is that they seem to be at their best when they lean into their running game. And if they want to toss a bunch of money at WR to diminish the impact of Cook....um...okay.

I dunno that they have THAT much more they can do.

They just need to play better with this core and hope we come backwards a little -- and we might.

Wouldn't surprise me if Allen gets his contract number bumped up soon.

Don't lose to the Rams, Buffalo.

You win that game and we have to play our starters in week 18 and maybe you get the 1 seed.

Look, if you guys wanna go back to the old system, create a 2nd bye and make it LESS important for us to show anything vital in the regular season because now we can get a bye with the 2 seed - go ahead and do that.

But I don't think you wanna.

The problem wasn't the format. It's that you lost to the Rams because you couldn't stop anyone and blew a game to the Texans you never should've lost.

If Rice comes back alright, man I don’t see the Chiefs taking a meaningful step back.

That addition alone will negate a lot of losses we could see.

It's a bummer that, from a roster standpoint, we might be better served if Kelce retires.

I dunno -- it's close. If he comes back, that's cool. If not...well the $17 million in freed cap won't hurt.

I just kinda hope we're able to take care of our own this off-season. Please just get McDuffie done. And if there's space for Bolton and GK afterwards, great - lets do that as well.

Then the question becomes DE2 and CB3 -- do we extend Watson or re-sign Omenihu? How do you address those? Obviously LT needs a lot of attention. Do we think we need another veteran WR (I certainly do).

There are some significant holes to be addressed.

It's going to get tough. The Von Miller deal has been a disaster for them. They're in a negative cap space situation already. So they're going to have to push some things down the road on guys like Milano and Dawkins. And maybe Dawson Knox, too (the contract they gave him might be the worse of them all).

Kelce is obviously not coming into camp in the best shape and coasting through much of the regular season.

As long as he shows up in the postseason, none of that matters.

However, for what he’s making, that will bite the Chiefs eventually.

I don’t think Kelce matter much. Anyone we sign will have a low first yr cap hit anyway with the money going to to 2026 and beyond.

I think Kelce would do us a solid and restructure anyway if we asked him.

smithandrew051 01-29-2025 10:41 AM

I don’t pretend to know what to do about LT, but I want Hollywood back at WR on another 1-2 year deal then take Egbuka at the end of the first if he’s still there.

Hollywood is your vet with an awesome trio on rookie deals.

That would easily be the best quartet of WRs that Mahomes has had.

Dark Horse 01-29-2025 11:17 AM

I think Kelce has earned the right to ride off into the sunset whenever he feels like it but damn it’s going to be strange not seeing 87 out there

O.city 01-29-2025 11:27 AM

He may ride off and do something else but....man I dunno. The dude just loves football.

I'd ride it til the wheels fall off.
