It was a brand new defense with a bunch of new guys. I kind of expected it would take a little while to get it together.

in 2021, it looked to me like guys were dogging it, which would indicate that he'd lost them. It happens to all coaches eventually, unless they just turn the roster over continuously like Belichick does (just as an example).

I kind of figured it was time to switch defensive staffs along with the high priced vets and start over.

I still think it's probably time to move on from the high priced vets not named Chris Jones this offseason, but Spags has proved he still has their ears.

This is starting to look like a legit top 10, maybe even top 5, defense this year.

I know this may sound counterintuitive, but those teams are relegated to also-ran status because the MLBPA is too strong, and severely top heavy.

The players association will never approve a salary cap, because the stars of the game would rather make $25-$40 million dollars a year, than approve something that would increase the salaries of the lower tier players while also leveling the playing field for small market teams.

The MLBPA is the strongest union in professional sports, yet it actively craps on 80% of its members because the top 20% is too FN greedy.

The TD is also because the KC defense was in prevent by that point, and the Donks basically gave up and dink and dunked it the whole way down.

Our linebackers are killing it, too. We're actually giving starters' snaps to Bolton now, and Willie Gay is playing a lot, too.

Speed and aggression. Something we haven't had at the LB position in awhile.

Our last 3 games we've given up 9,9,9

I thinks that's pretty neat!

MahomesMagic 12-13-2021 08:07 AM

Our defensive line is night and day different from the beginning of the year.

Jones out of position.

Clark injured.

Jarran Reed looked like he was going through motions, not anymore.

Added Melvin Ingram.

And with all those guys playing well it trickles down to our wave DL guys like Wharton, Nnadi, etc.

Thursday Will be a big Test for them. If they hold the chargers under 21 then this defense is elite.

They have been playing really well but the quality of teams and QBs (with out their best receivers) they have faced the last 6 games have been meh. That's ok I am glad to see the domination that is what they should be doing. I just want to see what they do vs a good QB.

We shall see!

I just want to see this DL create problems for Herbert. He had way too much time last meeting and there was little to no pressure on him.

Get after the QB and make him make some mistakes.

We completely destroyed a Raiders offense that put 33 on Dallas.

We completely destroyed a Broncos offense that put 38 on Detroit.

We completed destroyed a Redskins offense that put 27 and 29 on Tampa Bay and Carolina.

Credit is due.

I mean Carr was top 5 in passing coming into the game yesterday.

It's folly to discount the two performances the Chiefs D forced him into.

He is, by definition, a "good QB."

Hence the other part of my post about not having their receivers. They lost ruggs obviously and Waller was out.

Again their D has been really good and I'm happy about it. Just Thursday will be a huge test.

To deny that is folly.

39 pressures in, like 6 weeks, is absolutely asinine.

In one of the pressers, they said that this play wasn't a called stunt, but that Melvin sensed the void created by Chris and flowed through it.

These guys are now at the point where they are vibing off of each other naturally and blowing shit up.

He hits like a freight truck, can play like a Micah Parsons in our offense.

Solid performance against a good young QB down 3 top players.

Gay = best LB
Sneed = no. 1 corner
Jones = best pass rusher

Not many Ds would perform well on a short week missing those guys.

He knew if he just sat back and let no pressure get there they were dead.

Better to force the issue and maybe they score quickly and you get the ball back with 3 timeouts.

Meh, I think he's fully aware of how stupid Chief Fan is and ignores us as he should.

Spags is just about the perfect guy for our situation. Not sure why Chief Fan wanted him fired.

This could be true.

I would lose most if not all my respect for any of our coaches if they actually paid CP insults seriously.

Much less Spags, who has two rings, one with one of the most average QBs in Eli Manning. He's so far beyond the realm of CP any criticism from here should sound something like a single gnat buzzing around his ankles.

This could be true too.

Spags deserves a bump too. First time I can remember when both offense and defense are playing together at an elite level.

It happened late in 2019 season as well. Led to a championship. Would be awesome if it happens again.

Did you not watch the 2019 post season?

Yeah, I just don't think that defense was playing this strong. I see this group as better and more athletic on all three levels, especially linebacker. If Shanahan had stuck with the run game in the SB it could very well have been a different outcome. Don't think 19 defense ever put together a string of dominance like this

start suckin dick fellas

Nah, they'll keep bitching.

MVChiefFan 09-15-2022 10:16 PM

Didn’t you read the GDT within the first ten minutes of the game? He needs to be fired or we’ll never win anything.

BigRedChief 09-15-2022 10:22 PM

Not blitzing a hurt QB and playing prevent defense was not the best option, IMHO

Did you not see that hurt QB still throw an absolute beautiful ball down the field?

That's how you let them score fast enough to have real issues. Keep everything in front of you and make them work. It was a 2 score game.

Last year we were at 40%. Big improvement so far

I like the let them run all over you in the first half to wear them out game plan

Titty Meat 09-16-2022 04:04 PM

This might be the best start to a defense since he's been here

Like they told you in high school: it don't matter how good you look if you can't score...

Megatron96 09-17-2022 11:58 PM

Spags is a magician. Begins the season with the loss of several veterans, including his two play-callers in HB and Hitch, the addition of three starting rooks plus several 2nd/3rd year guys, and he's nailing top-10 offenses to the mattress like two-bit hookers.

Chiefs' opponents have gone just 8-for-28 on 3rd down vs. Spags' defense in 2022. Right now the Chiefs defense is probably a top-10 unit.
