I'm not talking about weight. I'm talking about how they can manage themselves in the trenches. Houston was not a good run defender in college, and Hali doesn't have the wingspan to be a consistent trenches guy either.

Again... we know they're elite pass rushers in a 3-4. Why tinker with that just because we have a coach insistent on a scheme, even though he's not anything close to a defense guru. If this was Cowher insisting on a scheme change, he's entitled to that. I don't want to see a defensive scheme change dictated by a head coach who's recent defensive track record has been unbelievably spotty.

You're a joke. There are tons of 4-3 ends in this league in the 270 pound range.

And teams with 2 of them get run on all day...

Fat Scott look-a-like trying to block Reid from entering:

This, I agree with. His pass rush is abysmal.

Thats why i said his rookie year is a wash. He's a run defender let him defend the run. Poe would be the pass rusher next to Hali then **** it. Whatever shuffle the line that tickles your pickle

That softbitch Dumervil can play in a 4-3....but, he does have a lardass on the other end.

Cannibal 01-04-2013 07:58 PM

I hope Reid doesn't have the big one before the coming draft... knock on wood.

Yeah, I'm being silly. Pull up any thread where we talked about switching to a 4-3. I don't flip flop. I hated the idea of moving to a 4-3 then, and I hate it now. Lots of people seem to have flip flopped on this because all of a sudden we hired a popular coach.

It's crazy how just a short time in the 3-4 made people forget about the 4-3. 3-4 DE's are around 300 lbs, 4-3 DE's are lighter.

In the 4-3, and especially the Tampa 2, you're depending on pressure coming from your 4 down linemen. A one dimensional run stopper isn't gonna be good enough.

Yeah, 275-290.

I think Allen Bailey would be a very good rotational DE in the 4-3 as well. He was a BAMF as a 4-3 DE at Miami.
