Andy Reid likely to be involved in playcalling, with some younger offensive staff, in KC (no Castillo/Mornhinweg) http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/ja...chiefs-offense

We'll see. That first pick is huge pressure. If he ****s that up as his first move, he's ****ed. If he hits a home run we're set up for a late round playoff run, if not farther.

Reid will take hands-on approach with Chiefs offense
By Jason La Canfora | CBS Sports NFL Insider
January 4, 2013 8:12 pm ET

New Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid is expected to be more hands-on running the Chiefs offense, including playcalling, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Reid is mulling his new staff and has considered names like former Browns head coach Pat Shurmur, but, at this point, is leaning toward a younger staff, given his more direct approach with this offense.

Longtime offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg will not be going to Kansas City with Reid and at this point, it's unlikely longtime offensive line coach/defensive coordinator Juan Castillo will, either. Castillo is drawing interest in both of those roles he once served under Reid. Defensively, there have been rumors of Monte Kiffin as Reid's coordinator on that side of the ball, but that is very unlikely sources said (Reid has thought highly of Ed Donatell, now coaching the 49ers defensive backs, in the past, sources said, and Jacksonville's Mel Tucker could be an option as well).

On the personnel side, Green Bay executive John Dorsey is all but certain to serve as general manager under Reid -- Reid will report directly to owner Clark Hunt -- and the team will add other personnel men as well, as the Chiefs franchise is remade following the departure of former general manager Scott Pioli.

That is contrary to pretty much EVERYTHING we have heard so far.

Mother****erJones 01-04-2013 07:24 PM

As long as Andy is not calling plays. Im ok. Though Payton and McCarthy do it I just want him focusing on coaching. Maybe he's learned from his mistakes so this time around he wants some say in playcalling to balance it out
