Interestingly, Judge says that Reid had the Chiefs at the top of his list and that KC was the only place he wanted to visit.

In fact, people who should know tell me Kansas City was first on Reid’s wish list and was the only place he wanted to go. Granted, there were overtures from Arizona and San Diego, but let’s be honest, people: Arizona has ownership concerns, and San Diego’s Dean Spanos has always held fast to his belief in the separation of GM and head coach.

So neither had the opportunity that exists in Kansas City.
Makes sense.

Landed in LA, this may be out there: Hearing Andy Reid is telling people he hopes to bring both Tom Heckert & Packers exec John Dorsey to KC

I came.

Titty Meat 01-04-2013 02:36 PM

Im guessing dorsey would be in charge of player personnel and heckert would do contracts?

Congrats on hiring Andy Reid. He'll improve the Chiefs.

Andy Reid runs some pretty tough training camps, so the players better be ready. In fact, some that cover the team think they are too tough at times. The Eagles tend to start off slow and people theorized it was his training camps that were the cause. But the Eagles usually finished strong under him, so they were battle tested.

Todd Haley laughs at the notion of tough training camps.

So if Jags wanted to prevent allowing, say, DC Mel Tucker to interview for coordinator jobs (and I'd bet KC would be interested) they could

Hmmm ... this together might be even more powerful than our last together was.

Dorsey will probably be granted "final say" because if not then Green Bay could just stonewall us.

Mr. Flopnuts 01-04-2013 03:27 PM

Vermeil on Danny Parkins show this morning regarding Reid coming to KC.

Here's the latest info I received:

-They have to figure out how they are going about terminating Pioli. As many reported earlier today, Pioli has final say in all football operations written into his contract. Clark can't break that deal. They are trying to negotiate a buyout and let him go wherever he wants, but obviously Pioli wants all of the money. He did get a 2 year extension earlier around the time I got the info that the extension was happening.

-Tom Heckert is in demand and Andy may just elect to either wait for the Packers to be out (may be waiting a while) or he could entertain Ray Farmer in the role. There's some connection between Farmer and Reid that I can't link but they say they have a fondness for each other.

-Doug Pederson as QB coach, Castillo at OL, Bobby April as ST coach. Haven't heard a thing about RB or WR. He likely will bring Melvin the TE coach too. The only coach that has a chance to stick is Otis Smith as secondary coach, but that will be determined by DC. As I said earlier the Kiffin smoke was quickly put out, Ray Horton would be ideal, but they aren't going to wait around on him either to see if he gets another job. Dick Jauron is the new flavor of the hour as a guy linked to the DC job with Reid.

-Reid is going to completely overhaul the organization. He's bringing in his guys in every facet. Scouts, equipment managers, trainers, strength people. All will be Reid's guys.

-Shurmur or Childress will be O-coordinator. Varying opinions on who it would be. Me personally, I think Childress is it.

-Reid wants a 5 year deal. Chiefs, in standard fashion, offered 3. They'll get to 5 years around 38 mill when it's all said and done.

-Clark Hunt has done a masterful job taking back control of his franchise over that ****ing weasel Pioli.

I'm just bumping this post to update it. Source ****ing killed it on this info. There's more steam picking up with Kiffin though. Lots of writers are mentioning him now as well.

Ray Farmer is not under consideration for any role. Dorsey is going to be the GM (he has to be to make the move), Heckert will be director of pro personnel. There will also be a cap guru brought in. Eagle teams always have a lot of cap space but they spend.

Reason this wasn't done last night was because Reid wanted 5 years. As it said in this post. Chiefs had to get there but started at 3.

Finally, go **** yourself Scott Pioli. **** you, **** you, **** you. Source nailed that they had to fire Pioli to avoid Clark getting sued for breaking contract. They are paying Pioli in full. This final year from his orig. deal plus his 2 year extension that Clark gave.

I'll never bash Clark Hunt again.

Finally, there's a lot of old timers at Arrowhead who are dancing in the office isles as that dictating piece of shit gets his shit out of the office.

FREE AT LAST, FREE AT LAST.
