But, seriously, he's pretty damn good. I'm sorry to see him go, but this is standard operating procedure for Belichick. I imagine they reached out to discuss an extension (he's entering the last year of his contract) and found out the numbers, and decided to move on and get value.

Summary of the Cooks deals:

1. Pats trade 2017 pick 32 for Cooks, getting one year of performance (1,000 yards, 7 TDs) for cheap (like $2M last year I think);

2. Pats then flip Cooks along with a 4th rounder to get the 23 pick in the 2018 draft along with a 6th rounder.

I can hear BB now. "Good value there"

One less weapon for old man Brady. Who is he going to throw it to when Gronk is on the bench hurt again?

I hadn't heard any rumors that the Patriots were looking to move Cooks, but Schefter said they've been working on a deal for quite a while. Maybe I just missed the rumors. You're kind of plugged in to the Rams FO, aren't you?

Titty Meat 04-03-2018 05:15 PM

There's reports that the Patriots like Rosen

LMAO Watch them trade their 4 1sts and 2nds for the Giants or Browns pick. Bills would need to be put on suicide watch.

I wonder if Tom has said this is his swan song, bill is going out with him and mcdaniels loves Rosen

It was reported that they had a sit down and at the end Brady was not happy. Kraft may have sided with Bill and told him 41 is our limit so this is it.

Well hey haven't done Tom any favors. Signed nobody and let his left tackle go.

Robert Golden signs with Kansas City Chiefs

This seems to be a good move for both sides

After being cut from the Pittsburgh Steelers in March, former Arizona Wildcat cornerback Robert Golden has found a new home with the Kansas City Chiefs, he announced on Tuesday afternoon via Twitter.

Golden was once a four-star recruit in the 2008 class, top-20 in the nation and a top-10 corner back, holding offers to Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA and USC.

He started at corner under Mike Stoops’ regime, and was supposed to be the successor to Antoine Cason. Golden tallied 54 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble in his first two seasons at corner.

He made the switch to strong safety in 2010, where he racked up 60 tackles, one interception, 13 pass deflections and one forced fumble. He followed that up with 69 tackles, one interception, six pass deflections and two forced fumbles in senior year.
He was invited to the NFL Combine, but went undrafted, and eventually signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The 27-year-old had been moved around the secondary in Pittsburgh over the last few years, but primarily contributed on special teams, serving as special teams captain in 2015 and 2016.

Golden has played in 92 games since 2012, totaling 80 tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble.

In 2016, he signed a 3-year, $4.95 million contract with the Steelers. By cutting him, the team saved just under $1.5 million in cap space.

In six seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he made approximately $6.5 million. The terms of his contract with the Chiefs have not been released.

The move for both Golden and the Chiefs seem mutually beneficial, as the team has been lacking depth at safety and needs to address the position group in the upcoming NFL Draft. The Chiefs had already cut their starting strong safety earlier this off-season too, in order to save $5 million of cap space.

That's the risk -- it's not that our WR/TE corp isn't really good, it is, but the key components other than Cooks are injury prone. If Gronk/Edelman/Hogan stay healthy, we should be fine. If not, well, that's a problem.

Plus a 40+ year old QB.

Pats now have $14M in cap space plus two firsts and two seconds. Old man BB might not be done yet. Of course, Pats need a left tackle, a QB to develop, and to improve their front 7, so...

Wow, that's not a move I thought Ozzy would make.
