If he can be back in 6 months….then he won’t fall to our 2nd round pick. A team who isn’t in win now will take him at the top of the 2nd. Hell the Broncos could afford to take him.

If I’m the Lions…..I’d take him at 32.

Give Joe Cullen some firepower to work with. In that situation, he could be fully healthy and ready to contribute by mid season and until then, Ingram Clark and company can hold it down. We won’t have many chances to get a guy like Okoboki or Williams unless we take some injury risk or other concern. |

I know you mean Ojabo. |

Baker should be hoping it's the Seahawks. Their offense fits his style.
Sailing the ball over receivers and then running it on 2nd 3rd and 4th |

I understand the risk of taking Ojabo at 30, but I just don’t give a ****. This team has an opportunity to draft a top 15 player at their biggest position of need. Anybody we would take at 30 isn’t likely to contribute early on in year 1 anyways. |

@MikeGarafolo: The #Falcons have agreed to terms with WR/RB/S Cordarrelle Patterson for the do-everything guy to return to Atlanta, source says.
Arthur Smith, Dave Ragone & Co. keep a key offensive piece coming off career-highs in touches (205), yards from scrimmage (1166) and TDs (11). |
Carlos Dunlap released. Go get him.

I agree! If he OR Jameson Williams are there, I would jump all over that! Same logic for either player. We may not have an opportunity to draft that kind of talent for the next decade. |

I'm just processing all the stuff that happened and wanted to put in my support for adding him. |

He fits with Atlanta's offense and they know how to use him. I thought he might be an interesting weapon for Andy Reid plus he could return kickoffs. |

Taking Ojabo in the first would be stupid BEFORE he tore his achilles.
Now you're talking about taking him in the first with a torn achilles even though the only skill he has is his first step. don't hold your breath fellas |

Alternatively, maybe you get lucky and get a swing at Boye Mafe |
Quote:
 I can tell you’ve never actually watched the guy play, because he wins in multiple ways. Also, I was talking specifically about your take that it would’ve been stupid taking him in the 1st before his injury. I have no problem with people that disagree and think it’s too risky now, but that take was just awful. |
Bashes Ojabo then calls for Mafe lmao
|
He's a project. whatever man. If you love him good on you. He's a complete project and now he's a day two player.
|
Quote:
I’d love to hear what Mafe is if Ojabo is a “complete project”. Dude had 11 sacks this year, and improved a a run defender throughout the year. He’s got a real knack for causing fumbles. He has excellent inside/outside spin move, and he can win in multiple ways. Saying he would’ve been a “stupid” pick at 30 before the injury is probably the worst draft take I’ve seen this year. |

https://heavy.com/sports/cleveland-b...aker-mayfield/ I guess it is just a 1-sided love affair at this point. |
Andrew Wylie's new contract is interesting -
He gets $2,385,000 base and that is also guaranteed BUT... He only costs for our cap, $1,187,500. I think that the Chiefs did that same type contract with Demarcus Robinson not last year but the year before. I think this is related to the Veteran Salary Benefit rule (VSB). Anyway good to have Andrew back, because it always seems like we need him, and it did not cost too much either. |
The 2020 CBA expanded on the VSB and created a second veteran benefit known as the 4-year Qualifying Player benefit. This benefit is only available to players who have been under contract with the team (and never released) for the immediately prior 4 or more seasons. Under this rule, the team can designate a player (or a combination of two players) to be signed and receive the benefit and reduce his (or their) base salary for Cap purposes by up to $1.25M (combined if it’s two players). This rule also limits the player’s signing bonus to $137,500 and the player’s base salary cannot be more than $1.25M over the applicable minimum salary for the player’s sevice time.
For example: The team could sign a player to a contract with a base salary of $2.325M (base salary of $1.075M + $1.25M) and a signing bonus of $137,500. The total money earned by the player would be $2,462,500, but the deal would only count $1,212,500 on the team’s Cap. https://russellstreetreport.com/sala...2B%20137%2C500). |

Let's not talk bad about my guy Boye Mafe.
Who doesn't like a guy named after food? (A traditional spicy Senegalese stew made with a tomato-peanut butter sauce) Of course, I really liked him when I thought we could get him in the 2nd round. |

You guys see Watson's base salary in 2022 is $1 million? So any suspension the league imposes will not affect his fully guaranteed mega deal. Lol, that's flat out dirty. I do have to tip my hat to the cleverness of that deal though. Watson has a great agent representing him.

Minimize the initial cap hit to try to have at least a resemblance of flexibility. Signing bonus in lieu of base salary in year one is very common. We do it in every contract. |

My opinion comes from my Michigan fan friends. Most recent: "My hot take as a Michigan fan is that Ojabo had bust written all over him, even before the injury. He played one season and did so opposite a guy who was so dominant that he could've won the Heisman. It reminds me of the defensive linemen who play next to Aaron Donald, rack up mostly clean-up sacks, and then get exposed as nothing special once they've signed a big contract somewhere else." but I admit you're absolutely right that I don't watch much college football I'm just regurgitating. |

Less worried about CB. The sky is always seemingly falling every offseason, and we always seem to do fine there.
Draft a guy somewhere and let's roll. |
