But still. Weird. |

There may be two opportunities to see both the space station and the Crew Dragon tonight. 9:12 Central for 5 minutes (if it is dark enough and the clouds are not to heavy), and again at 10:48 for only 2 minutes.
I'm not sure if they will be on the same path this time like they were prior to hook up, but both were clearly visible in the night sky at that point in time. |

That's for ISS, not Dragon, but Dragon should be right behind (I assume) tonight. |

Looks like they're going as far west as they can. Makes sense.

Webcast is live (and will be until they're on the ground). Either NASA or SpaceX work.
|
Cool stuff. Such a cool time to live in...
|
Skies clearing nicely here. Hopefully it won't be too light when they pass over at 9:12. Thanks Coogs.
|
Does the hinged nose cone stay open, or does it close? I presume the latter.

If I'm interpreting it right, Dragon is moving FASTER than ISS at this point, so if you guys are out looking for it, I THINK that it'll be out front - not behind.

Will do. Partly cloudy here in North Central Kansas, but there are some patches of very clear sky. Gonna be iffy.

Northwest of Hawaii right now. 14 minutes or so until it passes over my sight line.
|
Getting ready to hit the vertex of the curve right off the coast north of Washington State, and heading to the Southeast. About time to go watch the sky!
|
Watching it fade away. No dragon though.
|
My wife and I picked up the space station straight north, and were able to follow it for about 3 minutes until it exited in the east. We couldn't decided if we saw the dragon or not. If so, they were very close together. We couldn't decide if it was right in front. It was sort of like a double vision type of thing. Either way... Very Cool. May try it again at 10:48.
|
Small window next lap. Looks like for my view it will start in the West around Denver/Cheyenne area and end in the Oklahoma City/Dallas area.
|
Southern coast of Alaska. Beginning it dive across the USA shortly. Portland to Houston track.
|
Saw it again. Could not pick up the Dragon. Still awesome.
|
Caught it! We had a ton of haze, but the clouds broke just enough to catch ISS, and after staring a bit my wife noticed Dragon out maybe 5-10 seconds (10 degrees?) in front. I've tried a few times and failed, so super cool to see it with Bob and Doug on board.

Just saw that the nose cone is closed right after the de-orbit burn.

Trunk separation will be the start of the "exciting" stuff. Coming up at 1:51pm EDT. It'll take about an hour from that point until they're in the water. |
Kind of a late addition from Tim, but here's a 30-minute video with details about the entire splashdown sequence if anyone's interested in something to burn some time before the fun starts.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZZ-4xuVeBIE" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Trunk separation in 4 minutes. Hold on to your butts.

Trunk latch has been popped
|
I was kind of expecting cameras on the trunk, if not Dragon itself, to see the separation and burn. Maybe I'm spoiled...

I bet we'll get video later. |
Yeah, they need to come up with some visuals to show for this part. Kind of hard to stay excited when all you get is a narrator.

Wow, someone tell Elon to stop messing with his mask for a few seconds...
LMAO |
Hold your breath.
|
This is kind of a disappointment. Watching guys film and take pictures of 4 tables of people sitting at their computers is not riveting TV.

Whatever. Hope we'll get video once the chase plane spots it. |
Flying home? Falling, with style.
|
Yay!

I'd love to see the map again. Be way better than this shot we have had for 30+ minutes. |
Man, kind of intense to hear his voice.

Drogues out!

YES, all four deployed!!!
|
Splash down!

Does Dragon have a landing bag?
|
Cool!

Splashdown. That boat was damn close. Probably less than a minute away.

Exceedingly cool..
|
Really? Private boats? I'm surprised that the coast guard isn't deployed to go after them.
|
I'd just like to say:
It's about time America! Don't ever stop putting our people in space! |
Quote:
That zoomed out shot shows like 50 private boats out there. Thats insane. |
That's a lot of boats!!!
|
Man, the person driving that fast boat is amazing.
|
Jumping off of Dragon into the water:thumb:
What a job.:D |

Did I hear that the two oval holes just above the hatch are where the main parachutes deploy from?
