I saw this, it’s coming out this fall. I really liked the original series, not sure how good it’s going to be without Spartacus, but I’ll give it a shot.

The story is based on the assumption that Ashur did not die on Vesuvius in the denouement of the second season of the original fiction.

I've been watching Black Sails. I'm on a historical fiction kick I think.

I really REALLY enjoyed that one. It got somewhat off the rails in the middle but pulls it all back in and absolutely crushes it by the end. .

I would have loved to see them continue it with a new series based on the Treasure Island part of the story with those actors. I know it’s a short book but I think they could have done some cool things to expand it. It was just such a good pirate world and aesthetic they built.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying it. I need to find more series like it. I still haven't recovered from finishing The Last Kingdom.

Was in this exact same predicament. I watched The Last Kingdom and was obsessed with it. Followed that up with Black Sails and it was pretty much on the same tier of quality IMO. Definitely discovered a love for the historical fiction genre.

I mentioned it above a few days back, but if you haven't watched Taboo its a great one. Unfortunately season 1 was like seven years ago and they still haven't got around to filming a second season but sounds as though it's gonna happen. Even as a standalone I think its worth the watch.

Have you seen Harlots? It's decent. I have Vikings Valhalla in my queue but the original Vikings series is behind a paywall on Netflix.

Hardy seemed to love the role and was evidently instrumental in a possible second season.

I thought he'd given up on it.

And he's always so damn busy. I'd be surprised if he ever really found the time to make it and it just won't happen without him driving the bus. It was too much of a niche show.

Great series but I'm not gonna lie, was kinda disappointed that they made Flints character the way he turned out at the very end

I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't watched it yet, but yeah...

Well, if what they did to Flint distresses you, avoid Our Flag Means Death at ALL costs. LMAO

Not so much distressing, but just kinda disappointing

Must we really shoehorn that angle into every improbable scenario?

What are you referring to with him turning out some way at the end? I’m struggling to think if I’m missing something.

It's not that I liked the guy all that much, because I loved the guy you mentioned and hated that they killed him. Just the other way to go is so ****ing brutal and the scene is so realistic. So ****ed up lol, but damn it's a good show.

JUNE ****ING OSBORNE

The conclusion to Handmaid's Tale is gonna be amazing.

Liz Moss got way too fat, though.

Isn't the entire premise of that series that women are broodmares or something?

I mean, she looks like a mare these days, but maybe one that should be pulling a plow. As breedin' stock? Nah - I'm out.

The premise is that only certain women are fertile. Looks be damned.

Mostly I have a real hard time buying her as a refugee on the lam and a resistance leader when she looks like the only she's been resisting is insulin.

They do a decent job hiding it with clothes and camera angles. Maybe she loses some weight as the season goes on.

Every season was good but I was bummed when T.J. Miller left after Season 4. There was a slight drop off during Season 5 and 6. Still great though.

Dope Thief had a pretty good premise to work with but I feel like it’s kind of going off the rails.

The first couple of episodes were good, but then it just started going down hill. These guys were supposed to be smart about what they were doing, but then started to do the absolute dumbest things they could possibly do. The writers were making them do the stupidest things just to add drama to the show. I hate that shit. It's terrible writing.

Yep. Has turned into a bunch of impossible hijinks and outcomes with a serious facade over it.

MobLand is heating up

I was iffy on E1 but its gotten better since. Its got a great cast and Tom Hardy is killing his role

Just started episode two of Black Summer on Netflix, an extremely promising zombie apocalypse series... just found my new Walking Dead

Agreed. E1 was questionable but it’s been great since.

HemiEd 04-21-2025 04:29 PM

Been watching Ransom Canyon on Netflix. Like a lot of series, it takes a bit to come together.

Kind of a poor mans Yellowstone.

If Minka Kelly isn't the most beautiful woman in the world, she will do until we find the one that is. :D

Michael Rooker was perfect for The Righteous Gemstones, glad he got to be part of this final season.
