I like Alex, but we should know that the Clots have a bad history of horrible first half performance this season. Wonder what would have happened had this been against Cincy or Pitt.

I need another game to be fully okay with a Jay Cutler contract.

I am okay with an extension nevertheless.

Alex Smith Fritz isn't that guy. Hes a team first guy, and what he knows and understands is that taking up that much money hurts the team around him.

I don't think he really cares about the dollar amount. I think he cares about the years, and the teams devotion to him as their qb.

I really think he would do something like that. He might be a top 10 QB in talent but he sure is the top QB when it comes to overall intelligence.

Good to have him as your team's QB.

He has an agent and this will be his last NFL deal. He turns 30 in May.

Give me some examples of actual events that have lead you to make these comments. I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm genuinely intrigued.

Indy sucks. When I ask for a dish recommendation at restaurants they recommend veggie dishes.

Screw that.

He stayed on when Jim Harbaugh took over for peanuts. He made 4 mil that year.

He took a 3 year 24 million dollar contract with very little guaranteed money after that.

He I believe twice, took pay cuts on his original contract, to help the team resign players.

Alex Smith doesn't need the money. He gives 98 percent of the money that his charity earns to his charity.

He has never once taken a Joe Flacco stance or hell even a peyton manning stance where it was ever about his money over the teams.

That's just not the way he is, or ever will be.

Its something that I have watched with him for 8 years.

Do I know this for sure? no, but I know one thing about him. he has always put the team first, and all he has ever wanted was that team to show him loyalty.

Andy is doing that. There is no way he goes diva now.

If he will sign a team friendly deal, I'd be thrilled.

You do have a point about him signing a cheap deal after 2011 and their NFC Championship game run.

If we could extend him for an equal amount over what is already owed, sign me up in a heartbeat.

That was after his free agency tour where nobody wanted him. He took the deal cause it was the only one he could get. Probably won't be as cheap this time around given everyone and their mama saw Reid's hardon for him

Barring falling off a cliff performance wise he should have two contracts left. Smith could probably play until he's 39-40 based on being valuable as a vet backup if he eventually fades as a starter again.

Some people are never going to be satisfied, and you're crazy if the idea that he didn't step up and have his best in our most meaningful game of this year and the last couple years for the Chiefs organization.

Considering:

1) The Chiefs line and

2) His propensity to run even when he's protected

I don't see him playing to 40. He'll get hurt before then.

There are some guys who could be banging a Victoria's Secret model and they would complain about her underwear not being sexy enough. You just can't please some people no matter what unless you do everything their way. Idiots.

Alex Smith played very good yesterday. But let's be honest, that was one of his best games of his career in terms of stat line. People are acting like this performance warrants him a long term deal, as if this was the kind of play we've been seeing all along from Smith, which it hasn't been. Smith has been very mediocre for a majority of the season. A lot of it has to also do w/ the offense, but AS is a very much dink n dunk QB.

The guy needs to pass down field more. I know he's big on not turning the ball over, but at some point you have to put points on the board from the passing game. If he gets resigned, then we better get more WR/TE/Oline help. The production from the TE position this season was atrocious, as was our WR core. Bowe was inconsistent throughout the season and Avery just pisses everyone off. If his knee would hold up, this team needs to think about bringing in Jeremy Maclin AND look at Marquis Lee in the draft.

WR-Dwayne Bowe
WR-Marqis Lee
WR-Jeremy Maclin
WR-Dexter McCluster
WR-AJ Jenkins
WR-Junior Hemingway

Tight End?
Sign Fred Davis. Guy has talent and has hit the injury big PLUS...the guy loves to smoke pot....hey we got guys that love to get high too. Bowe, Houston, Hali, Davis should have no problem fitting in here in KC. No more of this McGrath crap. Kelce hopefully doesn't follow in Moeaki's footsteps, but should be every more reason to sign Fred Davis. This offense got shit from the TE position this season.

TE-Fred Davis
TE-Anthony Fasano
TE-Travis Moeaki Kelce

So you don't think that if Alex had Mannings receiving corps and a full season to work out the kinks that he would be "that" QB? I think he needed time to learn the system with average to below average receivers and played lights out when he had to. In other words Alex can be the QB that this team needs to win, just get him the receivers to throw to and it shall be done!
