How in the heck did you get 100% fire resist on NPC's when you can't change their armor?

Runes and jewlery, man. There are rings, belts and weapons with like +300 resistance.

Just runes. I didn't bother to change their jewelry.

Did the same thing fighting Wasp Spiders, but Nature instead of Fire.

Of course. You will lose whatever is in place, but they're so cheap, it doesn't really matter. Man, my Varric was running 87% crit chance in the 3rd act and his Cunning had to be at 40 in order to open the chests. He was soft as hell, but he pretty much nuked people.

This time through I'm only putting about 35 dexterity on him, the rest in cunning. He should just destroy shit when he crits.

I just killed the Rock Wraith, the kill got me to level 14, so the +xp items I'm using (Lion of Orlais, Falling Star) are making a pretty big difference. I'm actually enjoying how fast everything is playing on Normal, too. Reaching level 14 on my initial Nightmare run took me 47 hours. It's taken me 19 on Normal.

suggestions on Huon?

His blood sucker AOE spell 1-hits all my mages/rogue range guys.

what spell is that and can my blood mage get it? :D

keg in kc 04-10-2011 05:58 PM

My strategy for all bloodmages is exactly the same:

1) Varric Knockback
2) Pound mage into dust before he can cast anything

Although on Nightmare, if he's who I think he is (bloodmage in the alienage with a billion hp) I think I might have activated the fight, ran up the stairs and out of his line of sight (he didn't follow), carefully pulled and cleared the adds as they came up and then finally killed him. And when I did fight him, I kept my party all far apart, and used Dispel Magic/Transmutation every time he did anything (that will clear any spell he's casting and heal anybody he's damaging - it's a very, very, very useful spell in the Spirit tree). Basically kept him Horrored, Petrified and Dispeled as long as it took to kill him.

i got him ... just had my tank pommel stun him while everyone else went full retreat and ran around a couple of corners into a nice long, narrow alley. Then had tank run around in a big circle to agro everyone and then led them all back to the killing zone. :D

mostly i just need room to work

Valiance and Striking, my 2 favorite ones.

Not sure if you saw the fine print or not, but you can only have the benefit of one Rune of Valiance on any piece of armor. You can put 2 of them on your chest piece for example, but it will only register one when you look at you stats.

umm ... 2 on chest piece?

So i can put 3 on Varric?!

i thought rune of devastation was going to be great by it's description but it turns out to be misleading. It only increases base damage not "all" damage per description. :(

how well does that knockback rune work from "enchantment" boy? I thought about putting it in Bianca.
