Looks like no more blinged out “legendary” draft setup.

Johnny Manziel was taken in the 1st round. A known immature coke head lol.

This has to be very daunting for them lol.

Shedeur Sanders

I’m a little surprised at how bad they read the room on his draft stock. It’s one thing slip a little to go in round 2 and be a bit surprised by that, but he still hasn’t been picked after they seemingly assumed he was no doubt going in round 1.

Yeah at this point it’s like an RG3 and Kirk situation if I’m a GM.

I don’t know who/what the reasoning is behind his fall, and obviously everyone has their reasonings/theories, but it’s getting to a point where his value at these rounds is getting hard to ignore for any club, even with a cemented starter already in place.

saphojunkie 04-26-2025 08:36 AM

You can be an entitled prick if you're a wide receiver. QB has more involved than just how you play. You have to lead. You have to inspire.

The intangibles of quarterback aren't imaginary.

So, yeah, the off the field stuff really ****ing matters. Not for Jamaar Chase or Deion Sanders, but for a QB ... bet your ass you better have your head right.

This is who he was groomed to be. You think daddy ever sat him down to discuss the importance and merits of humility? Think they spent a lot of time discussing how great leaders need to be great servants?

Think they practiced a lot of extreme ownership?

My dad couldn't run 40 yards in 40 days and never made much money. But I wouldn't switch childhoods with Shedeur Sanders for the world.

I mean do we know this? I hear a lot of theories like he’s entitled being thrown around.. I did read the two GM 1 owner statements, but Deion, while he was entitled in his playing days, really seemed to mellow out in these most recent years… maybe I’m just so far off on my previous judgement??

I remember though him and his whole ex wife, ex boyfriend fight situation really changed my perspective on dieon when I heard how he handled the entire situation.

I think its possible Deion while having a giant personality, tried his best to raise his kids the best way he could.

I also think its possible that Shedeur just never took that advice and grew up entitled because he had his daddy's money and talent. Even with the best parenting, some kids never listen until they have to learn the hard way.

It also sucks that because Deion was his coach his entire college career and Deion is so outspoken, when you draft Shedeur, you're also drafting the whole media circus that comes with it. If Shedeur played for a different team in college, its entirely possible he would've been drafted by now.

Let this kid come in and compete and hope this has put an ENORMOUS chip on his shoulder to prove everyone wrong.

Red Dawg 04-26-2025 09:16 AM

I am shocked not even in the 3rd. Coaches don't wanna deal with entitled Sanders and his dad. He comes across unprofessional money hungry only. Is he driven to be great and work hard? He doesn't act like it.

stumppy 04-26-2025 09:16 AM

1. Self-entitled attitude
2: Side-show Dad
3. Does not have the talent it takes to be a starting QB in the NFL.

talent wise, yes. He's in the good backup/bad starter territory. But would his ego ever allow him to do the backup role?

I mean how you were raised + DNA is actually the formula for who you are, so yeah, this is who he is

Its okay to feel a little empathy and also acknowledge this is who this 23 year old man is and hope that this life experience causes some positive self reflection but Deion isn't the one in there giving these interviews to NFL teams

And it’s not like Payton wants him either. If he’s so concerned about it, he could have drafted him.

Lot of different ways it could end for him. He’s the one that has to do the “heavy lifting”. Hopefully character starts to drown out some of the ego.

Coach 04-26-2025 09:26 AM

Hard to feel bad for a guy who turned down chances to work out in front of scouts, picked what teams he would meet with, did not test at all, throws his own teammates under the bus, on top of a circus that’s associated with it.

That’s on him for tanking his own stock by making shitty decisions.

wazu 04-26-2025 09:33 AM

At this point there are a number of teams who supposedly already have a starter who should be drafting Sanders as a possible upgrade. Just glancing at the 4th round tracker...

Carolina
Jacksonville
New Orleans
49ers
Colts
Pittsburgh
Rams
Jets
Browns

jjchieffan 04-26-2025 09:36 AM

You know, when the mock drafts started for this draft and they were mocking Sanders as a high first round pick, I was surprised. I didn't ever think that he was that great. But, I just figured that it's the same as it always is and teams overdraft quarterbacks so he would probably go day 1. This fall makes more sense to me as far as his talent goes

Shiver Me Timbers 04-26-2025 10:00 AM

It comes as no surprise to me he is still on the board. I have witnessed first hand the cult of personality propaganda machine living so close to Boulder. Watching and listening to the talking sports heads for the past 2 years out here is like witnessing a religious cult with the Sanders. Retired his number-LOL- Shitters whole life has been one of arrogance and entitlement.

Papa got him 6 or 7 mil in NIL. This is the last real money he makes from football and he blows it on cars and jewelry. Rolls Cullinan- 400k/Maybach-200k/ Hell Cat 100k / Vette- 80k / Cybertruck/100k- parking them wherever he damn well pleased on and off campus. Rules don't apply.

My real hope was the Faid would take him in the first round. I thought if there was one team who would drink the Kool Aid it would be them.

I can’t remember the last time an NFL QB, no matter how much of jerk they are ever publicly throwing their OLine under a bus. Perhaps it’s common, I don’t know but I just can’t remember any.

Mahomes is an absolute master of somehow blaming himself for every hit and sack he takes no matter how bad the line play is. Like, when he's taking the blame, he'll tell you why and make you really believe that he believes it was his fault. He'll also cover for crappy receivers but he's an absolute wordsmith artist when it comes to defending his terrible offensive linemen.

This, plus I'll add that a lot of his success was when after defenses broke down. Having to rely on him in the pocket, to read the defenses is one of his negatives as well.

Having a Daddy that could always throw drama into the circus is another issue, what HC or GM wants this clown show.

Who wants to pay higher wages to a circus like this when you need players to build your roster to compete on the field, not in the media!

tredadda 04-26-2025 10:18 AM

I think the perfect place for him would be Buffalo. Barring injury he has zero chance of starting, it’s bitter cold (which Deion said he doesn’t want him going to a cold weather environment), small market so he will fade into obscurity and a long way from daddy.

He’s far from the first son of a super elite/arrogant professional athlete to attempt to follow in his father’s footsteps. LeBron’s son, for just one example, turned out completely normal.

The 49ers should take sanders tbh. It's an odd take, but their QB's are Brock Purdy & Mac Jones... Surely you can upgrade that room?? Sanders is a security blanket if Purdy doesn't work out and they spend the $$ on him..

Purdy does work out? Hype up sanders and trade him.

Speaking of great athletes and their sons, this is how MJ’s son turned out:

In 2010, while a college sophomore and underage, Jordan tweeted about spending approximately $50,000 at nightclubs in Las Vegas, prompting an investigation by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.[17] In 2012, Jordan was arrested after a drunken argument with two women outside a hotel in Omaha. He was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and obstructing justice, then released.[18] Jordan later pled no contest to disturbing the peace and paid a fine of $250 plus court costs.[19]

Jordan dated Larsa Pippen from 2022 until 2024 [20]

On February 4, 2025, Jordan was arrested in Orange County, Florida for DUI, cocaine possession and resisting arrest.[21][22][23] He was then booked into Orange County Jail, with his bond being set at $4,000.[21][22] On February 5, 2025, Jordan was free from jail after posting the bond.[24] The same day, body camera footage was released showing Jordan leaving his car parked on a set of railroad tracks at 1:30 am on February 4 in Maitland, Florida, when police found him.[24]

LeBron, a better basketball player and a better father?

Lebron is going to need more scoring titles, Defensive player of the year awards, MVPs and Finals MVPS if he wants to get on Jordan's level.

This has to be very daunting for them lol.

That is a good point. I think this has as much to do with Deion as Shadeur.

Bronny probably has nice dance moves from being a TikTok kid. Probably breaks a move, like a seizure, in the middle of conversation. Borderline gay most likely.

Purdy does work out? Hype up sanders and trade him.

The 9ers have reportedly been in contract talks with Purdy for a long while now. They’re more likely to pop up after having given Purdy $60m/year than draft Sanders.

Ive heard they want to give him 45-50 his camp is asking for 55-60.

I can't think of a bigger contract QB talk this offseason for any team other than the 49ers... At this point, going into Round 5?? How do you not snag insurance like Sanders? The value is there

Haven't really been following the whole Shadeur story, but it doesn't seem rational that he hasn't been drafted yet. By my count, there's at least 8 teams that desperately need a new QB, and Shadeur is talented enough to have already been taken by one of those teams.

And the whole "NFL teams are too smart to draft Shadeur because of his personality/off-field issues" thing doesn't hold water either, considering that CLE traded for Deshaun, PIT tried to make Fields their QB1, NYJ, NYG are historically stupid about choosing Qbs, etc.

And who knows what SEA, NOR, ATL and TEN are even thinking, as none of them even have a starting caliber QB on their rosters, or even a prospective one.

I'm surprised but not that surprised. I watched CU games regularly the past two seasons and the guy makes horrible decisions consistently with the ball in his hands. NFL teams clearly don't think he has it in him to be a starter level NFL QB based on that and he's obviously shown he's not the kind of guy you want on your roster as a backup.

Problem is all these elite athletes marry and reproduce with 5”5 100lb women! We need NBA players having babies with WNBA gals!

The Steelers taking a made up player based on his two favorite Lost characters with Jack Sawyer instead of Sanders is pretty funny

His stats say he's very accurate (career 72% completion rate), throws a high percentage of Td passes, and is very efficient (Passer Rating: 160.4). Don't know where that put him among his peers last season, but I bet he ranked pretty high overall.

So, again, the idea that he's not good enough to be a starter doesn't seem logical.

It tells you that putting up stats against mediocre college players in a bad college football conference doesn't mean too much to NFL evaluators, yeah.

Plenty of examples of big stats QB’s in college who were not even drafted or went low in the draft.

Remember Timmy Chang? That guy had the college passing yards record for the longest time. I think he played CFL briefly but he never stepped foot in the NFL.

Putting up stats in college is pretty meaningless.

From a pure stats/efficiency perspective, Will Howard (Ohio State) had a comparable season against better competition and did a bit more with their season than Colorado and he's still on the board.
