Just looking at his stats....

13.9 points, 1.9 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game. The next KJ Adams?

He shoots from further than a couple feet out, which is a plus. 2/5 of our starting lineup couldn't exactly do that last season.

True, but he wasn't exactly lighting it up according to the stats.

35.5% on 234 threes isn't too bad. Sounds like someone an opposing team will actually have to guard, which is useful.

SithCeNtZ 04-04-2025 05:31 PM

This feels like at best a taller Coit and at worst Timberlake 2.0. The good news is he definitely isn't shy about shooting 3s and he had some big games when he was on. Unfortunately the bad news is he, like Coit, doesn't offer much in the way of assists or rebounds, and his games against actual good teams were....not good. They played 1 tournament team this year, VCU, and in 2 games he shot 4-24 from the field 2-14 from 3. Yikes. If you expand that to the top 2 teams in the league that somehow makes the numbers worse: 5-35 from the field 3-22 from 3.

As a deep bench guy I guess it doesn't hurt but he shouldn't be counted on to be a significant contributor to a title team.

George Liquor 04-04-2025 05:49 PM

Timberlake 2.0?

Ooooooooof

A perimeter player who routinely attempts 10+ threes and hits at a 37% clip is the next KJ Adams.

Yikes. I see why you laugh at reasonable takes.

According to analytics expert Evan Miya (evanmiya.com), White grades as an A- overall player with standout traits in defensive impact, 2-point shooting, and rebounding.
His D1 percentile rankings show impressive efficiency:
93rd % in offensive rebounding rate
95th % in 2nd chance points per game
87th% in eFG%
87th% in FG% at the rim
49% in 3P%
89% in half-court FG%
87% in transition FG%

FG% by zone per CBBAnalytics
CBBAnalytics.com's player comparison model matched White's playing style to several recent Big 12 standouts:
Kevin Obanor (Texas Tech)
Cameron McGriff (Oklahoma State)
Terrence Lewis (Iowa State)
These comparisons, based on 20 different statistical categories since 2018-19, indicate White's style fits the physical, high-efficiency role KU needs to fill.
Vernon’s latest on the bad player per BWillie

smithandrew051 04-05-2025 06:03 PM

I’ve learned to ignore portal rankings. KU had plenty of highly ranked portal transfers who ended up underperforming.

Let’s see how the pieces fit when the puzzle is finished before we react too much to these guys.

Hell, some of them may get recruited over and leave anyway.

I love 29% 3PT shooters who have absolutely no playmaking ability...and has been to 3 diff schools in 3 years. Actually now 4 diff schools in 4 years.

Speaking of...AJ Storr had been to 3 schools in 3 years and averaged the same amount of assists as this guy.

His percentage has gone up every year and was decent last year. If he continues that trend, he’ll be an excellent piece. Even if he doesn’t, he’ll still be a solid small ball 4 and a good fit for what Self wants to do.

Yep. It will mean that KU didn't match Auburn's offer.

I'm aware of Vernon's rumors. Let's say they're true, and Bidunga's camp wasn't thrilled with how he was handled. Why are they automatically right? Do you side with every parent who bitches about his/her son's role on a sports team?

LMAO

You're right about one thing...the bar isn't set very high.

"The problem with this team is the 3x All American!"

"37% three pt shooting on almost 8 attempts per game? Sounds like a KJ clone!"

And if your team is only top 20ish by every computer ranking, you definitely need to stop concerning yourself with winning games in order to appease the handlers of a player who very well might go to the highest bidder anyway.

Brilliant stuff.

The minor differences between the staff and Bidunga's handlers aren't irreconcilable. This is/was about money. Not about sticking it to ol' Bill. As you'll see when it's announced that Bidunga's returning.

Til then, keep pretending you know what you’re talking about.

They were playing like one of the best teams in the country? Based on what? Beating three bad teams and barely escaping UCF at home?

Torvik rating during that stretch: 26.

Torvik rating for the full season: 22.

Are you a child? You think a parents opinion decides on playing time on any Div. 1 basketball team?

Everyone agrees that Flory should have had more playing time at the expense of KJ. That obviously includes the team because everyone left. For chrissakes, the student section who love Self totally were chanting, at home, We want Flory.

Self is still a top notch BB coach. When you coach as long as he has, you have to adapt to the mentality of the current era's players. They can leave after a year if you mistreat them. So you make the wrong choice as in the KJ fiasco, it bites you in the ass and call into question if Self can coach this eras players successfully.

I think KU’s movement so far indicates the same. No big splash and no bigs so far.

That sounds like KU has NIL money reserved for him to get a big pay raise.

Beautiful. I feel like Pack would be a perfect fit with Peterson who is going to be having the ball in his alot.

It would be nice to have some experience in the lineup too

BREAKING: Flory Bidunga Returning to KU
The Jayhawks might've just had their biggest win of the portal season.

Flory Bidunga is removing his name from the transfer portal and will return to play for Kansas. It's a surprising move after he entered the portal one week earlier with Auburn and Indiana as two potential suitors.

It's a huge momentum shift for the Jayhawks, who no longer have a major question mark at the center position. They’ve instead answered that question with the best possible solution.

Bidunga showed flashes of elite potential during his freshman campaign. KU's offense ranked No. 7 nationally during a four-game stretch when Bidunga started in Big 12 play — compared to finishing the year at No. 48.

The rotation becomes much clearer with Darryn Peterson as KU's primary guard and Bidunga anchoring the team down low. If the Jayhawks can add another scoring wing or two, they are very much in business.

Bidunga is now primed to become the next Bill Self big man to develop into elite players with multiple years in the program.

Updated Scholarship Breakdown
The Jayhawks have ~6 scholarship spots remaining.

Darryn Peterson

Elmarko Jackson

Noah Shelby

Jamari McDowell

Nijel Pack is in the portal and somehow has eligibility remaining. That doesn’t sound possible.

I think I read that he needs to get a medical redshirt but he only played in like 7 games this past year so likely
