Anyone ever heard of 'upchelsea.com'?

They just posted a report that AR just signed a 5-year deal with SEA. Sound too good to be true, so thought I'd ask.

nvm. Has to be fake. contract is supposedly for $400M

Misplaced_Chiefs_Fan 03-10-2025 09:01 PM

Considering they picked up Darnold earlier today . . . yeah, a tad suspicious.

JPH83 03-11-2025 02:43 AM

IF Greenlaw recovers well from that injury, that's a very good pick-up for the Broncos. I'm not sure I'd have wanted to risk pulling the trigger at that cost, but a true coverage LB would be REALLY nice for this team.

Damn, that secondary got better quick. They added Adebo at CB and Holland at FS, that's two of the top dogs on the market.

With Slayton staying for 3/36 they pretty much just need a QB and a RG to be be a much better team.

I think they are going to throw the kitchen sink at trading up to #1 with the Titans at this point and get Ward.

kccrow 03-11-2025 06:41 AM

San Francisco released DT Maliek Collins to save cap space. Bring him home Veach. :D

Honestly doubt he's within the price point needed to do that but he'd be a solid plug next to Chris Jones.

The Giants are also young in the secondary...

I doubt they'll get Rodgers, so at best they are looking at Russell Wilson

I'm no huge fan of Smith but I won't go that far.

Fries was pretty average in Indy in 2023 then got hurt and missed most of last season. He was really good in his short time on the field, but he'd never been that good in the past.

There's a lot of projection involved to even get him in the same tier as Smith. I'd say he's no more likely to be a very good OG next year than Kingsley is. I'd be basing that on traits for Kingsley but it's not like Fries has a long track record of premier play in his own right.

Honestly, I think we're gonna be lucky to get Smith at 5/$115 at this point. The franchise tag as his AAV would be a small miracle with what the cap is doing.

In 3 seasons we might not even be overpaying anymore...

Green's a former 1st rounder - yes.

He also appears to suck very badly. Like, would've been a camp cut by Houston in all probability style of badly.

He hasn't done a thing to suggest he's an NFL player.

Really?

I mean...I wouldn't go that far.

Carter, Baun, Dean, Sweat and Williams all seemed more critical to me. Now that said, they lose 2 of those guys in FA and another may be limited all season next year due to injury.

I do think he was probably the most important piece in their secondary but you can also see what they're doing there - just pivoting to a secondary built around DeJean and Mitchell long-term. Similar to what we've done in losing Reid and Sneed the last two years.

But yeah - I'm surprised they couldn't get a better return.

They could roll with Tyler Steen, a 3rd rounder from a couple of years ago, at RG. Kenyon Green is clearly not an answer aside form taking a shot in the dark on depth. They got a pick upgrade with the trade from a 6th to a 5th.

Apparently, they are shopping Goedert and only want a 4th. That's enticing with Kelce in his final year.

Would.

But then again that 4 is probably our next good CB.

RunKC 03-11-2025 09:42 AM

It’s not the Eagles people should be talking about. It’s the 49ers. They’re about to go through a rebuild.

Want to feel grateful for the Chiefs dynasty? Look at that team.

Deebo out the door
Aiyuk could be traded, serious injury recovery
Williams is 37
Banks gone
Hufanga gone
Greenlaw gone
McCaffrey old and might not be the same
Ward gone
Warner is almost 30
Kittle is 32
Buckner gone
Armstead gone

Their last 3 drafts have been pretty terrible aside from finding Purdy. But even he needs pieces to succeed.

O.city 03-11-2025 09:45 AM

Yeah, they're blowing it up.

Thought they might push in for one more season but that's obviously not the case.

They're gonna be lousy for awhile. The entire NFC West is in decline -- the Rams seem to be the class of that field and Stafford's not getting any younger.

Those fans have to absolutely despise us.

Goedert up and got kinda old on me while I wasn't paying attention. Turned 30 in January.

Probably has a couple years left, but HoF talents are typically outliers on aging curves -- merely good players often aren't. I'm not sure he has more than another season or two at/near this level in him.

A 4th isn't much, but Reid can get production out of his TE if you just give him the clay to work with. I think I'd rather develop the next guy.

Sassy Squatch 03-11-2025 09:58 AM

He's also quite injury prone and really isn't as productive as you'd expect him to be.

Averaged 583 yards and 4 TDs a season across 7 years.

Right now we just have Hicks/Cook and maybe Connor if he switches to safety this year.

They’re hoping some competition will bring out the best in him.

I’m so happy the Chiefs have a GM that prioritizes youth and not overpaying older players. No idea what the Vikings are doing paying out the ass for Jonathan Allen and now Javon Hargrave. Those contracts will look awful a year from now.

Why? Jonathan Allen just turned 30 in January, and they signed him for 3 years. We signed Jones at 29 to a 5 year deal. Allen is one of the top DTs in the NFL, definitely in that next tier after Jones. 3/51 + 9 in incentives is really quite cheap for him.

I haven't seen the terms for Hargrave yet to really judge that one, but I think Allen is a really good deal.

Only thing Minnesota might regret is it feels like they’re spending big for the rookie QB within a poor FA class.

Next year you’re still on the rookie deal and you can probably get even better players. But oh well, they’re trying to compete in the best division there is.
