Weak draft class means he’ll go higher than he should. He isn’t eligible for NIL. I don’t see any reason for him to come back, though I’d love it if he did. |
Insiders think Furphy is 100% gone.

Elmarko has something you can't teach or learn.
He's really fast. If he can just fix *waves arms* all THIS |

If basketball doesn’t work, give him to Leipold to just run some 9 routes. |
No Kugel.
Would’ve been a fine depth piece. No major loss though with the other signings. I believe Coleman Hawkins is in the portal. With all the guards we have now, he might be a better fit. 6’10” PF who can shoot the 3. We haven’t been linked to him if he drops out of the draft, but we also didn’t really have room before. |

If I were them, I’d try to get another backup big who rebounds. KJ remains basically incapable of grabbing defensive rebounds apparently.

At Kansas, we have a pretty high bar for our student athletes. We’d never prioritize success on the court over success in the classroom. |

Never was high on Kugel. Even said so after he was early tranfer commit. Was very disappointed at that point as he was penciled in as started until we got some real guys in Mayo and Storr. |
Braun getting some good minutes in

I hope I’m wrong but Vinnie P is a rich man’s Kila Kaʻaihue. A good 4A player. Sorry BWillie your boy is average.
Batting 243 with 1.0 war. Time for pratto. |

Hearing there’s a real chance Jaxson Robinson will pull out of the draft and commit to KU.
|
Quote:
Legit shooter with some size. Perfect rotational wing. We could even model our rotation after the 22 championship team. Mayo takes the Remy role. Harris is Harris. Dickinson for Big Dave. Then Storr, Griffen, and Robinson play that sorta interchangeable 2-3-4 like we had with Braun, Agbaji, and Wilson. KJ becomes the energy big again. Bidunga takes Lightfoot’s role. Anything you get from the freshmen or Elmarko/McDowell is a bonus. |

Not a KU thing other than we lost to them in the tournament, but GODDAMN those Nova teams had some ****ing sick talent. Hart Divenchenzo, Bridges, Brunson, Arcidiacono. Those few years put a ****ton of talent in to the league. And apparently Brunson of all of them is like infallable? Jesus.

Have we ever had a starting 5 where everyone could shoot the 3 like that?
Maybe Tharpe, Selden, Wiggins, Ellis, and Embiid? None of them were “great” shooters though. Embiid also barely shot the 3 back then. Jay Wright would love this. |

As the NCAA's withdrawal deadline approaches, teams have indicated Furphy has only worked out for spots in the lottery. His decision whether to return to Kansas will likely go down to the wire, depending on how the coming days go and whether he likes his options. Scouts have been intrigued by Furphy's mix of size, skill and smooth athleticism, particularly at his age and early stage of physical development.

Furphy officially gone, to nobody's surprise.
I sure hope he turns into something. While I really dislike the NBA I'll always watch if there are some Jayhawks playing. |

Best of luck to the young man. |
The draft is just so so bad this year. He would’ve been dumb to come back.
I’ll always remember Sherron being a fringe first round pick after his sophomore and junior years, then going undrafted. A lot of Damon Stoudamire comps. If you can be a first round pick (especially lottery), just go. The chance might not be there the next year. The Blake Griffin’s who really elevate their stock (when they would’ve been first rounders anyway) are pretty rare. |
Especially if you are blocked from receiving NIL cash which is just so dumb

Would’ve been wise to go after the Title or maybe his junior year. Having too much tape or exposure really seems to hurt your draft stock, unless you’re an otherworldly talent. |
If I was scraping change together to get a 5 piece nugget and two jr bacon cheesburgers at the Wendy's drive-thru on 6th and Iowa in 1997 and someone came up to my car and knocked on the window and said if you leave college right now I'll pay you 12 million dollars I'd still go through the drive thru and get my food. But then drive away
just saying Wendy's dollar menu for poor college kids is top tier |

I'm a very casual NBA fan.
But, I sure wish there were more Jayhawks in the league to root for. Obviously Embiid being the cream of the crop, and Gradey potentially balling out his sophomore year in the league. Everyone else is just meh. Here's hoping Furphy continues to develop and can be a solid role player in the league. |
Sounds like someone is not watching Nuggets games and seeing the glory that is Braun

Jaxson Robinson went to Kentucky. Crap.

Pretty strong source here, but good chance Elmarko injured his leg badly (torn ACL/achilles) in the kids camp scrimmage this afternoon. Game was immediately stopped and camp ended. Buddy had kids there who confirmed there was an injury and that camp stopped, so I know that part to be true.
|
Should have gone pro

Glad we weren’t relying on him for much this year. |
Better go get another guard for sure now.

Probably an upgrade over Elmarko.
Elmarko had a high ceiling, but this is a much more proven commodity. |
That was fast. A 5th year rotation player from the SEC is definitely an upgrade on Elmarko.
I don't know if we have any room left, but another big would also be nice. |
Quote:
Assuming he redshirts, we should have 1 more. Sure seems like this roster is absolutely loaded with competent players now. That’s nice after the last couple years. |
If he can play defense as touted I am happy.
|
Tough break for Elmarko. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and coming back next year!!!

That'll be an interesting dynamic if he does bolt and how many kids remain at UConn. |

Self played 8 in 2022 (Remy, Lightfoot, and JCL off the bench), 9 if you count KJ Adams spot minutes. We should be good. |
Quote:
Especially in the Reed/Morningstar years getting some additional athleticism off the bench would have had value I think. Plus I think guys like Reed would have shot a better percentage with some fresher legs. I'm not here to blast Self, I'm much more apt to make an argument for him being the greatest ever. But that's the way I see it from the couch. |
