Maybe the Royals pitching lab can get Schreiber back to form.
He was outstanding in 2022. In 2023, he lost his effectiveness against lefties, while still dominating righties. Sidearmer who relies on a nasty sweeper and rising four-seamer. |
They see a division for the taking and stadium that needs built. I like the aggressiveness.

Not a big fan of trading prospects for middle relievers. Being on the other end of that is more enjoyable. But, that being said... this team could probably use the help.

But Baseball America does label him as a "sleeper" and writes that his 25.5 K-BB% ranked 11th among all minor league starters with at least 50 IP last year. So, yes, the Red Sox took on some good risk here. |

Michael Massey just gave a ball to my son at practice.
He's our new favorite. |

If he somehow reverts back to his 2022 form, that can be beneficial for all scenarios (Royals flipping for prospects or maybe Royals making a run for a WC spot). |

Yeah, it was fun having them and Cone won a Cy Young, but it ultimately didn't get us anywhere. Setting that anecdote aside, you don't trade a young everyday potential superstar for a young phenom pitcher whose arm could blow out and go craps anyday. That's just bad business. |

Don't love the QT patch. Then again, if THAT's the thing I hate the most about the offseason, I'll take it.
|
Wonder if the Royals will do a Hosmer day now. Especially since they're celebrating the 2014 team this year. They'll definitely do something next year for the World Series team. Hosmer will be in the Royals HOF one day. No matter what happens his 9th inning in game 5 against the Mets will be legendary forever.

So is this team going to be worth watching this year?
|
More importantly perhaps... Does that mlb66 or whatever website still work?

We may get lucky and get to watch them on Amazon Prime for FREE (if you're a Prime member).
That's still yet TBD though. |

I love the Royals and I like QT, but....
**** this NASCAR Mickey Mouse Bullshit. If they wanted to do some sleezy advertising, they should just have rolled with Wal Mart with this design. |
Here's the QuikTrip patch in the wild:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GG9WAP0a...jpg&name=large It really sticks out from the blue jerseys. I don't know what they paid for it but I hope the Royals got the bag. I saw that the Yankees got $25 mil for theirs and Red Sox got like $18 mil. |
Quote:
And sometimes it seems so pointless... I'm not going out to buy a GEHA and no amount of commercials or ads has me stopping at a QT over anywhere else that doesn't look overly stabby whenever I need gas, since obviously getting gas is far more about convenience than anything. |
Quote:

The Yankees one is an insurance company and Red Sox is MassMutual. I'm sure the amount they paid is a drop in the bucket.

These players never stop complaining. They're throwing a fit because you might see some dong while they wear the uniform pants. /s

Trading Salvy? Cutting Feemin? I’ve seen it all on CP. Nola batted .148 last year and had 1 home run and 8 rbis
|
Think most people are overthinking it. Just adding depth with a decent defensive catcher. Plus I saw someone make a good point that he caught both Lugo and Wacha last year.

Man, I believe I expressed here that we should explore a short term deal with Bellinger. Now he signs this prove it deal with the Cubs and I am irritated that it wasn't the royals. We needed a respectable left handed bat in the outfield. It changes the whole damn lineup dynamic. Talk about a move that could help put the team in a position to win the division.

3 years 80 mil is a prove it deal? Sign me up for needing to show my talents, also. Holy shit.

If things ever looked bleak for us, I think the chisox are looking at starting the year with three former royals in the starting lineup:

This is super interesting. The story of spring training has been the horrible new jerseys but it turns out the Royals lobbied hard to keep the old full size letters on the back. They weren't given a choice but they lobbied until Nike and MLB caved. Funny seeing fans of all the other teams complimenting the Royals and saying their teams need to do the same thing.
