It's gonna be fun when they realize they have to scheme like crazy to protect Orlando..if they just leave him on an island, especially against speed, Burrow will be hit a ton.

Bengals being excited about OBJ is like Donks being excited about Mike McGlichey.

At least we're honest about what to expect from Donovan Smith and don't pretend he's an anchor here to rescue our OL.

Hi I'm Mike McGlinchey and I somehow have parlayed being an average player into being a top 10 draft pick and getting a near 100 million dollar second contract.

Even average tackles are extremely valuable in this league. Pass first league means there need to be 64 tackles that can pass block at an even average level.

Not many guys that big, long and athletic coming out every year. Even fewer guys that have that and average technique.

Kinda surprised these guys aren’t pushing to make $30 million APY like the DL. They have the leverage.

Will Orlando Brown, Jr. be an upgrade?

That's an excellent question. I understand Bengals fans think so. But guys... as a pass blocker I don't think he's an upgrade from Jonah Williams.

Brown's limited athleticism IS a factor that he and the team have to prepare for. Quicker passes, shorter drops, help to his side... all things the Chiefs learned they had to do over the past two seasons to make him viable. As a pass protector, he has to chase guys up the arc. The Chiefs made it work. But he regressed this past season (or opposing teams got more tape on him in the Chiefs O and became better at attacking him).

He's a better run blocker than Williams simply because he's massive. But he's not leading anything to the outside or getting far downfield on the second level to extend runs.

Jonah Williams struggled against power rushes but was pretty good against athletic guys, right? Well, how does an OL look when the RT is getting pushed into his QB's lap consistently, and the LT is trying to chase speed guys up the arc? Can't drift back, can only step up and to the left. Better hope that LG-C combination is as good as Thuney-Humphrey, because if they're not...

I've never said he's an anchor to save the line. He's a domino that allows other pieces to fall in place and he's an instant upgrade to a guy that gave up the most sacks for a LT last year and the 2nd most the year before.

I don't know who ended up having more pressures allowed, but Orlando Brown was credited with around 50 pressures allowed in 2022 (depending on source), and that was playing next to the best pass blocking LG in the NFL.

The only reason his sack rate was respectable is because Mahomes is a magician. Burrow is also good at avoiding pressure and moving in the pocket, but he's not AS good.

The idea that Orlando Brown is an instant/automatic upgrade from Jonah Williams is one with some faults.

Check this article out and notice how 2022 Orlando Brown Jr. compares to 2022 Jonah Williams in the "per" stats.

Yeah, and he was an upgrade to Mike Remmers at LT in that Bucs SB.

He still needs help.

I think he will fit the Bengals offense better because quicker, timing passes are a staple of the offense.

Jonah has been rehabbing and i think the move to the right side will motivate him to show he's better than what he put on tape the last couple years. If nothing else, to get a bag from some other team that needs a LT next year. As far as the power typically on the right side, the Bengals see the Browns and Steelers 4 times a year. Watt lines up there 100% of the time and Garrett lines up there a lot. I don't worry too much about the stereotypical speed left, power right dynamic.

Last year, Collins came in and i think fans expected a lot out of him and he even talked some bullshit about being Burrow's bodyguard, etc. He was ok but had trouble with speed over there, like you're saying with OBj but the Bengals quick passing offense helped him out. He was solid enough that he wasn't an issue. I think Brown, at worst, would be the same.

Could be. It could be a shit show. I just know, as a Bengals fan, it's hard to imagine it being worse than it's been the last 2 years. Very hard to imagine.

Veach has done everything in his power to protect Mahomes after SB 55. He let Brown Jr. walk while watching him sign for far less than his demands. If Brown Jr was as good as you think, he would still be a Chief.

If you look at the charts in the article I linked, you will see that 2022 Orlando Brown, Jr. was WORSE than Jonah Williams at all of the rate stats per snap (pressure, hits) except for sacks (and that's on the QB and the rest of the line, not the OT).

So yes, it is possible for Brown to be worse than the past two years. Overall depth should be improved, though.

Thank you. I know i've already won anytime someone simply says, or posts, "rings".

Let me explain it to you. It's the easiest, laziest thing you can do. It requires no thought or effort. Your team has to put in the effort and work hard to get that ring in the end. You, as a fan, had nothing to do with that. The only thing you can do is rap with other fans about how your team is better.

By simply posting "rings", you're taking the lazy, no effort way out. The exact opposite of what your team did to be a champion. Therefore, you are nothing like the team you root for.

It's not the coup de grâce you think it is, because you didn't do anything to get that ring. Basically, you are the Detroit Lions or Cleveland Browns of football fans.

This lesson was brought you to by the world champion of smacking other fans around. You're welcome.

You, much like the bungles, haven't won dick. Nice try cum dumpster

I agree it's a lazy argument, but if the value of the argument is in how difficult it was to make, we can never compete with you. You've got a franchise that's won nothing with a QB who has never and will never be the best in his conference, let alone league. We knocked you out last year and the last NFL game up be played was us winning our second championship in 4 years. I mean how deep do you really need us to dig to keep running up the score? But if trying to make a ludicrous argument in a debate you can't win is how you win fan points, then yes you are definitely the champ.

Better.

Easily a half chub rating. Maybe even hard enough to get it in but not do any real damage.

That was fun

Perhaps you don't rate a thoughtful response.

Being a dick to people on the internet doesn't make you special, princess. You're just another troll. Now you'll lash out at me, I won't give a shit, and you'll declare some sort of victory. Congrats!

Sounds exactly like something a fan of a team with zero rings would say.

Your ring envy is even more obvious than your penis envy.

It’s probably pretty bad to have to play second fiddle to a franchise as bad as the Browns. Being in ohio is terrible enough, but being Cleveland’s little brother is as low as it gets.

"Your teams' rings don't bother me!! In fact, they don't bother me so much that I'm going to spend an hour on a Saturday afternoon in the summer to scrawl out a 5-paragraph manifesto detailing EXACTLY HOW MUCH YOUR TEAMS' RINGS TOTALLY AREN'T BOTHERING ME RIGHT NOW!! BECAUSE I'M THE WORLD CHAMPION OF YOUR TEAMS' RINGS TOTALLY NOT BOTHERING ME RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!"

I remember when I used to talk shit about dominating the Patriots in a regular season game.

It was the tactic of a fan of a team who hadn't accomplished anything, so regular season games and performances mattered.

I don’t know….I’m thinking it’s a lot more fun being a fan of the best team in the NFL than a self-proclaimed message board badass from Cincinnati. To each their own, eh?

We had about as much to do with the Chiefs winning a Super Bowl as Joe Burrow in the 4th quarter of all of his playoff wins.

Hamwallet 06-17-2023 07:02 PM

That said

Bingo. You play the cards you're dealt. It's ok though. This time next year i'll be talking about how we're only 1 behind and you all will be yelling about how it's 2 because of some game 50+ years ago.

I always get a chuckle when people bring up 'the 7th minute of the 4th quarter of a game played in January between the 14th and 16th in odd numbered years'.

Joe Derrrrr is a shrinking violet in big moments.

Used up all his mojo winning a natty at LSU and can't do it in the NFL.

The fact that you try to discredit a Super Bowl bc it was played before you saw it solidifies the fact that you desperately crave validation for your poverty franchise by moving goal posts.

The Chiefs have 3 Super Bowls. That doesn’t change despite what losers like you think

You're certainly a Kensucky basketball fan. You guys would neeeeeever bring up and celebrate titles from 50+ years ago when all the players were 5-10 white dudes, would you?
