Bengals being excited about OBJ is like Donks being excited about Mike McGlichey.
At least we're honest about what to expect from Donovan Smith and don't pretend he's an anchor here to rescue our OL. |

Not many guys that big, long and athletic coming out every year. Even fewer guys that have that and average technique. Kinda surprised these guys aren’t pushing to make $30 million APY like the DL. They have the leverage. |

I enjoy the Bengals and Bills fans who come over here to talk trash. They're in the same boat we were for decades.
But like, it isn't lookin great for either fanbase. |

That's an excellent question. I understand Bengals fans think so. But guys... as a pass blocker I don't think he's an upgrade from Jonah Williams. Brown's limited athleticism IS a factor that he and the team have to prepare for. Quicker passes, shorter drops, help to his side... all things the Chiefs learned they had to do over the past two seasons to make him viable. As a pass protector, he has to chase guys up the arc. The Chiefs made it work. But he regressed this past season (or opposing teams got more tape on him in the Chiefs O and became better at attacking him). He's a better run blocker than Williams simply because he's massive. But he's not leading anything to the outside or getting far downfield on the second level to extend runs. Jonah Williams struggled against power rushes but was pretty good against athletic guys, right? Well, how does an OL look when the RT is getting pushed into his QB's lap consistently, and the LT is trying to chase speed guys up the arc? Can't drift back, can only step up and to the left. Better hope that LG-C combination is as good as Thuney-Humphrey, because if they're not... |

The only reason his sack rate was respectable is because Mahomes is a magician. Burrow is also good at avoiding pressure and moving in the pocket, but he's not AS good. The idea that Orlando Brown is an instant/automatic upgrade from Jonah Williams is one with some faults. Check this article out and notice how 2022 Orlando Brown Jr. compares to 2022 Jonah Williams in the "per" stats. Have you ever seen Planet of the Apes? As Dr. Zaius says to Taylor... "You won't like what you find..." |

Jonah has been rehabbing and i think the move to the right side will motivate him to show he's better than what he put on tape the last couple years. If nothing else, to get a bag from some other team that needs a LT next year. As far as the power typically on the right side, the Bengals see the Browns and Steelers 4 times a year. Watt lines up there 100% of the time and Garrett lines up there a lot. I don't worry too much about the stereotypical speed left, power right dynamic. Last year, Collins came in and i think fans expected a lot out of him and he even talked some bullshit about being Burrow's bodyguard, etc. He was ok but had trouble with speed over there, like you're saying with OBj but the Bengals quick passing offense helped him out. He was solid enough that he wasn't an issue. I think Brown, at worst, would be the same. |

So yes, it is possible for Brown to be worse than the past two years. Overall depth should be improved, though. |

Let me explain it to you. It's the easiest, laziest thing you can do. It requires no thought or effort. Your team has to put in the effort and work hard to get that ring in the end. You, as a fan, had nothing to do with that. The only thing you can do is rap with other fans about how your team is better. By simply posting "rings", you're taking the lazy, no effort way out. The exact opposite of what your team did to be a champion. Therefore, you are nothing like the team you root for. It's not the coup de grâce you think it is, because you didn't do anything to get that ring. Basically, you are the Detroit Lions or Cleveland Browns of football fans. This lesson was brought you to by the world champion of smacking other fans around. You're welcome. |
