this lets the chiefs focus on OT and DE in the draft...love this

They can absolutely have him contributing on the offense in the next 4-6 weeks and getting him in during the bye can only help in that regard. The question becomes how to get him the ball, but ultimately the answer is going to be that him and and Moore will be fighting for snaps. Is it a given that Toney can/will surpass him this season? Not even a little bit. But it's definitely a possibility. And if it happens and he's out there giving you 20-25 snaps/gm, he can do some serious damage with them. |
This may or may not work out. But, you can't really fault the logic in the trade. Huge upside at a pretty decent cost if it all breaks right.

I guess I'm looking at this a little different than most. While I do agree that this is a long term play I also think this could be a NOW play.
Hardman just had his best game...will want more money than Veach will pay....Veach just traded for Hardman's replacement.... I feel this could mean that OBJ is signing with us and Veach, after getting Toney, will look to trade Hardman away for more than he gave up for Toney. OBJ+Toney is better short term and long term. |

This is a move you make for the next 2-3 years. OBJ would've been a more for this season. I guess you can say it means something for PR though. |
LET’S ****ING GOOOOOOOOOO

There may not be many guys better built to play in an Andy Reid offense with a horizontal passes that get guys in space. That's actually a ton go give up for a guy who honestly hasn't done much. But I know the fantasy footballers are crazy about this guy because of his potential because he's so athletic.

He just has an innate feel for how to move after the catch. He can absolutely be a YAC God for this team. And it ain't that hard to get a guy up to speed on designed rubs and quick hitters. He can help this year. |

Andy Reid is the best ever at getting playmakers in space. Kadarious Toney coming out of college was one of the most elusive players in space since who?? Match made in heaven. Oh and check Mahomes' twitter fair to say he approves.
|
also, JuJu isnt a given next season...he might want a bigger bag than we want to give
|
Considering the FA class and the draft class next year, this is a fantastic move for the future.

Anybody think he sees a few snaps against the Titans?
I do. I think they'll look to insert him right away, any way they can. |
rare!

This move is another that fills the bill. I wouldn't say that it has absolutely nothing to do with this season, but it's definitely a long term move for the most part. Toney isn't even healthy right now. |

I don't see how you view OBJ as a move for this year when he's coming off a serious injury and likely won't practice until mid-November but Toney is a move for next year. Yeah, Toney has been dinged, but he hasn't gone 9 months without participating in football activities. And it's not like he's a rookie - he played last year and demonstrated serious shit when he was in the field. Moreover, as was kindly pointed out, I'm betting Kafka being his OC in NY, even for a brief period, would have him more versed on the Chiefs offense than OBJ would be. He's also far more explosive than OBJ is at this point in his career. I just see no reasonable basis for saying that OBJ is a win-now move while Toney is a move exclusively for the future. Toney is MORE ready to contribute to this offense than OBJ is, and by a fair amount, IMO. |

So this probably kills off any speculation of us trading a late pick for a pass rusher.
The offseason and this move clearly indicate we're preparing for the next 2-3 years. |

This feels like the kind of move that says we want to get this guy in the building and give him a small role then hopefully he explodes in 2023/2024. I like Toney, I'm just not expecting much from him this year. Hopefully I'm wrong. |

Smart trade.
We badly need a punt returner - like right now. And the Chiefs just landed a talented WR under their control for the 2023 and 2024 seasons for peanuts, and then can choose to to keep him in 2025 with the 5th year option. This is exactly the type of player the Chiefs needed to help with the cap so we don't have to go out and over spend on the FA market for that position. |

Ho boy. Pretty exciting pickup if this kid can get his head straight here.

I wonder what Aaron Rodgers thinks about this? Makes you appreciate Veach & Reid more than ever. See a hole and go fix it.

Everything about the FA period, the draft and this trade shows we're investing for the next few years. It doesn't line up with us trading a pick just for this year (like a Jerry Hughes). But hopefully I'm wrong. |

To those concerned about the compensation. IF the Chiefs let Hardman walk, we will almost certainly gain a 3rd round comp pick for the '24 draft.
Receive Toney 3rd in '24 Give Up Hardman 3rd in '23 6th in '23 |

Yea, because we don't need WRs with 2 expiring contracts after this year. |
LMAO Yeah, can't say I was familiar enough with his game to know he was THAT elusive. Some of those moves are busted as ****.

I have a lot of catching up in this thread to do. But for the record, im hella excited about this dude.
Was all over it the first time he was mentioned as a trade candidate. ELITE start/Stop. No one should be questioning his ability. Attitude/effort/injury history...absolutely red flags. But goddamn the dude is ELECTRIC with the ball in his hands. With that said, lemme go catch up with yall |

If we can get Toney and Moore up to speed this season, it could come in the clutch. |
Mark Donovan and Brett Veach figured if Dr. Tyrance was going to earn his recent promotion to Vice President as team psychologist, might as well get a super talented guy in the fold to keep Doc busy.
|
Actually not surprised he has some problems with his legs after seeing those highlights. Impressive as **** but God damn is he rough on himself.

Low risk, high reward trade.
In Veach I trust. |
