It's safe to say thread bans aren't working, at least for the handful of people who simply can't keep politics out of any given conversation.
Due to continued reported posts and general frustrations around inserting politics into absolutely everything, and idea came up to restrict people to DC, much like the Romper Room. So, everyone gets three thread bans as warnings, and after that will get a vacation in DC (the other forums will be view only). The thread bans and DC vacations will be posted in the transparency thread. Just like several other rules, there's of course gray area and it doesn't really matter where the line is drawn, because those who can keep politics out of the Lounge will never come close to the line and those who can't will insist on running right up to it. Generally speaking, we're talking about political opinions or blatantly inserting politics into a thread that isn't even a little bit on topic, or otherwise leaking DC BS into the Lounge or other forums. |
3 is too many.
Peace. Out. |
Just call it both ways, and there shouldn't be much hubub about it

END THE DC FORUM NOW! :thumb:

DaFace will put you in your place if you get out of line. OBEY! Thread title should be: Keep your political bullshit in DC and don't talk shit about my SPACE IS AWESOME thread.

In general, future threads like that still apply, no matter how destined they are for DC, and posting political threads in the wrong forum follows the same rules. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to those threads, and most people will still keep politics out of it (I assume for that particular one, a lot of people could speak to ratings and what not and leave the rest of it in DC)... and of course that's the shitty part of this, where it's infiltrated every aspect of our lives. |

We're all still learning to navigate this krazy new 24/7 all pervasive political reality |
I'll just say my goodbyes to daface again right now.

There's plenty of BOTH sides in the COVID thread. There's plenty of BOTH sides in the NBA thread (now moved). I don't care which side you're on, if you say only one side is tolerated, you're lying to yourself. |

Number of thread bans for those posts in the past week: 7 Number of reported posts all time from both of you combined: 0 |
Politics suck. Thus ends my contribution to this thread.

Just like the Covid thread.... there's actually a lot of good conversation sprinkled in with all of the crap and to simply say there shouldn't be a Lounge Covid thread because of the politics is crap for all the people who aren't/weren't there to opinion spam and turn it into a cesspool. |

If you're not reporting posts, you're complicit. Simple as that. Besides, you refuse to complain anonymously because you ain't no snitch but you have no problem complaining in public? How does that make any sense? |

The biggest part of a moderators job is to adjudicate complaints. The board software has a specific mechanism for lodging those complaints. For a reason. Not reporting posts and then calling out the mods in public is straight up childish. |

I responded to your post before you edited it and it appeared at that time you were defending the behavior I was describing. I should have just continued addressing the person I was quoting originally. Sorry for the misunderstanding. |

Yeah guys, go to the ****ing Mod Store and get more mods!

When people violate the rules of the forum, they should be reported anonymously, period. |

I wouldn't want to be a moderator because it's a thankless job and in the end, good people like Phobia, Bob Dole and others become demonized and hated. I have plenty of people on CP that hate me already and there's reason to for me to willingly increase that head count. I do that just fine on my own, thank you. |

The only problem with this concept is that politics have permeated pretty much every aspect of our lives at this point. The non-political is being made political by forces beyond our control.

Wait sorry I saw a political thread and thought I was in the DC forum... 😂 |

I am a regular poster. I'm also a mod and I do mod stuff when it comes to my attention. Whether that happens when I am perusing a thread, or when someone reports an issue. I don't spend much time at all just looking for mod stuff to do. And neither do any of the other guys. That's why the reporting function is a pretty important tool to help us do our mod jobs. |

It doesn't matter how "unbiased" you are. You will be inundated with accusations of favoritism until they either give up, or you do. Being a mod here is a thankless job. |
