Did you watch our defenseman just collapse on that 2nd goal? They just let Hayes skate to the net. Should have given him a handy on his way also.

I like Binny. To bad Tarasenko and O’Reily decided to be no shows in the playoffs. But that’s Blues playoff hockey for ya.

DaFace 04-18-2019 07:38 PM

Avs were down by 2 later in the game than this yesterday. It's not over. Especially when they're dominating the shots like they are.

Binny is indeed special, but you're right, it's too bad the others didn't rise to the occasion.

And letting themselves get beat to death on the boards is a clear sign that they've given up.

I changed the channel, if something happens I can watch a DVR copy later.

Their shots have been, well, terrible.

It’s amazing how you can dominate on faceoffs and yet generate so little offense.

I'm not giving up on them.

It’s crazy how even this series is.

Tbh these are the best two teams in the west. The fact that this is a first round series is tough. I think if the Blues win this series there’s a very good chance they go all the way.

Assuming the Blues don't pull a Blues, they should win the West.

Yeah, I ****ing said it.

Dallas can't score. Nashville hasn't done much. Vegas regressed. Calgary and San Jose have dog shit at goalie.

It would be cool to win a game on home ice instead of having to go back to Winnipeg and win there for Game 7.

Vegas regressed in the regular season but make no mistake, they’re legit. They added their best player at the deadline, they’re a different team with Stone.

I’d take the Blues over them but it’d go deep.

I think Vegas is fine long term, but you can't make the SCF/win the SCF ever year.

Honestly, if they can get past Winnipeg and winner of Dallas/Nashville(Dallas scares me the most because Bishop/Dallas D scares me more than Nashville), the Blues will win the West. No one in the Pacific scares me.

Yeah, Dallas is capable of stealing series. They have limited upside and lack scoring depth (Zuccarello was a huge get) but they’re probably the best defensive team left in the playoffs. I’d be rooting for the Preds if I were a Blues fan.

I recognize Smith has been playing well, but a handful of games doesn't undo his sub .900 SV%.

Bobrovsky had the label of PO choke artist until this series.

Also, please tell me where I insinuated the Flames were going to win the series? I listed all of the PO teams aside from the Avs. My bad. I'd take the Avs over the Sharks, too. Vegas vs COL should be an interesting series.

Smith is the only reason the Flames weren’t Lightning’d

he was crazy last night but 55 minutes of domination is too much for any goalke

I described it as "cocky zen" the other day to my wife. He's intensely confident in himself, not to the point of being truly full of himself. Instead, he just has an intense understanding of his abilities and what he'll be able to do over a series.

And yeah, the Pepsi Center is fun place to be right now because pretty much every time he comes on the ice the crowd perks up. Makar has practically been the same way in his two games. That kid is going to be electric.

It may not be this year, but the Avs are going to be force before long. In terms of key pieces of their roster's ages:

Tyson Barrie (27)
Gabe Landeskog (26)
Nathan MacKinnon (23)
Mikko Rantanen (22)
Sam Girard (20)
Cale Makar (20)

Oh, and they have a #4 pick this year.

Yeah, I've often thought the importance of "playoff experience" was overstated, but there's no question that this Avs team is MUCH more prepared for this than last year's was. The Flames just seem like they didn't know what they were in for. I'd expect them to be more solid next year.

I don't think PO experience is the end all be all for winning, but it doesn't hurt.

I can't think of a SCF team that came out of nowhere and made it aside from Vegas since the 05-06 lockout(they're more of the exception than the norm).

The Kings made the POs and had an early exit before they won it all, as did the Hawks. Bruins had one of the biggest choke jobs of all time before winning it in 2011.

Guys like Jost and Compher are nice depth pieces as well. Jost still has untapped upside IMO, he’s still adjusting to NHL speed, and he’s still physically underdeveloped. He could be a 50-60 point guy in the coming seasons if it all clicks for for him. And the Avs should be able to get the 2C they need at four. Or, if Byram (best D in the class) is there they can take him. Either way, they should get - at least - an elite complimentary player. Which is all they really need at this point.

It’s pretty crazy how seamlessly Makar has stepped in. Reminds me of McAvoy a few years back, but Makar looks even more dynamic. 2017 was such a weird draft. The guys who went 3 (Heiskanen, uber stud), 4 (Kale), 5 (EP) look way more like franchise level talents than Hischier (lol Devils) or Patrick (lol Flyers).

Yeah, it's hard to find any obvious holes on D at this point, so I'm betting they go for a center as you said. Their main weakness this year is their scoring depth. The top line is insanely good, but it'd be nice if MacKinnon didn't have to play 30 minutes (granted, it was an OT game).

My best guess is they like Alex Turcotte, who ironically plays a lot like Ryan O’Reilly. He’ll probably play in college for a year but step right in the year after amd be a contributor.

Avs would be a contender right now (if they aren’t already, Makar is a massive addition mid playoffs and if MacKinnon and Rantanen keep playing like this they can beat anyone) if they had a second line that could take advantage of the MacKinnon line drawing the hard minutes.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they took a hard run at Panarin, though he looks Florida bound.

Yeah, you can really tell on the ice... he doesn't do anything that costs the team at all, but he'll lose the puck every once in a while attempting moves/puck handling that's almost at a level of someone trying shit out in a skate around.

Gaudreau has some growing up to do... more concerned about staring down the ref or moping about a missed breakaway than playing defense.

Huge goal there, didn't expect a 2-0 start.

Al Bundy 04-19-2019 09:21 PM

Looked like he said "Bad, bad, bad." The officials were very bad and leaned towards the Av's. However, the Flames allowed it to happen and got beaten. Once the refs took away the goal it was over. The refs knew what they were doing. Flames need to be blown up and start over again. Gaudreau needs to be traded.
