I find it odd that Disney refuses to step into the future with their new Star Wars productions, with the exception of the abortions IIV->IX . Due to those failures we're stuck with prequels based on known characters that are extremely lazy and predictable.

Hell, I'd be fine if there was a something where they went waaay back in history, where we didn't have any initial connection with the characters, but no.

Personal experience, but they recently remastered a GameCube game for the Switch and one of the characters is Trans. The United States was the only localization that DIDN'T include that aspect of the character. 20 years later they decided to include the original characterization and it sparked an outrage on that part of YouTube saying Nintendo had gone woke. Woke or not, it’s unfathomable to me that some Disney executive watched a preview of E3 and didn’t shut this show down then and there (if not the entire show, then at a minimum reshoots/rewrites of that episode). It’s the kind of thing that could irreversibly damage the value of Star Wars as a commercial/entertainment property and could lead viewers to not watch the next (hopefully decent) thing they produce in that universe.
