Guys I'd love to see cut: Jah Reid ($775k in Dead Money, $2.7 in Cap Savings) and Demetrious Harris ($200k in Dead Money, $1.35 in Cap Savings).

Surprise cut: Justin March-Lillard

He started the first five games of the 2016 season.

Ramik Wilson, who was cut and placed on the Practice Squad, then re-signed to the 53 when March broke his hand, was surprisingly, an immediate upgrade.

I could see him on the Practice Squad but with a healthy Derrick Johnson, DJ Alexander, Ramik Wilson and 5th round pick Ukeme Eligwe, he's going to have a tough time making the 53.

To be fair, he was playing out of position. He's not a TED.

Hopefully someone claims him off the PS then. He's Pat Thomas bad.

pugsnotdrugs19 07-26-2017 11:20 AM

I'm not ready to fold the tent on any of those ILBs just yet. There are a few guys there that they should allow to compete all through preseason, and may the best man win.

RunKC 07-26-2017 11:21 AM

I don't think I want Gaines cut. A tall CB with very good athleticism that has played well in the past is a good value to have on ST's and as your 4th or 5th CB, especially with his salary being next to nothing.

Demetrius Harris
Jah Reid
David King
Tyler Bray
Terrance Smith

I want all of these guys gone

pugsnotdrugs19 07-26-2017 11:22 AM

Gaines has only one year left on his deal and was pretty terrible last season, for the most part. Personally, I've got high hopes for guys like Bausby and Ashton Lampkin to step up and provide even cheaper, better depth.

RealSNR 07-26-2017 11:23 AM

Watch out for Terrance Smith this year. He was on special teams for half the year, but he's got the same speed and measurables that March has. Maybe he'll do a bit better at staying healthy and not ****ing up as much.

That's our boy!

pugsnotdrugs19 07-26-2017 11:24 AM

Andy is gonna keep his 4 TEs (Kelce, Escobar, Harris, Travis). I think that's almost a lock.

Cutting Jah Reid sounds great in theory for the cap, but who is your swing tackle if not him?

Undersized special teamer

RunKC 07-26-2017 11:27 AM

No dead money on Tyler Bray. I believe that's $1 million back to us for cutting him.

Alex starts
Mahomes is the back up
Stave goes on IR with a phantom toe jam injury and prepares to backup Mahomes in 2018.

penbrook 07-26-2017 11:28 AM

Manga and DJ will be the starting ILBs

They kept 4 last year because Harris, O'Shags and Travis were inexperienced.

I think they only keep three this year. Four is just too many.

If Escobar is a thing, I think it'll be Kelce, Escobar and Travis.

Hopefully, one of the other guys on the roster, like Tiller or Witzmann or a waiver wire acquisition.

Can any of those guys be worse than Reid?

pugsnotdrugs19 07-26-2017 11:30 AM

Both Andy and Veach were talking about Mauga the other day positively, so I wonder what they do expect from him...

I just can't see us cutting Jah Reid. If Fish or Schwartz go down, we'd be totally f**ked at tackle.

Tiller (as far as I know) has only played guard. Witzmann could be that guy I suppose. He should know the offense already. Preseason should determine all of that.

If they keep 4, (which would surprise me), Mauga's probably the odd man out.

For sure. Reid's value has decreased, from my perspective, with the addition of Damien Mama.

Fulton's likely the starting left guard, with Mama as the swing guard while Ehinger's on the PUP (and probably, IR).

Mama has an incredible upside, if he can keep his weight down and stay focused.

Eligwe, Alexander, Wilson, DJ and Mauga all have more value than March or Smith, so unless there's an injury (hopefully not!), I think both are waived and signed to the PS, if they're not claimed by another team.

pugsnotdrugs19 07-26-2017 11:37 AM

I don't know how I'd feel about Ehinger going from LG to T in any sort of pinch. The guy looks like he could be a really solid guard, I doubt they'd mess with that.

While I don't necessarily disagree, Ehinger played right tackle, right guard and left tackle while the University of Cincinnati.

He looked like a different player from the 2016 preseason to his call up during the regular season. Much hungrier, much more hard working.

It's just speculation but I expect him to make another leap this year.

Yeah, I agree.

With all of the injuries (and a declining Poe), the ILBer's didn't get much help from the D line last year, either.

Ilbs that play on their heels and are drag tacklers don't generally work out very well,

Hopefully the young guys play welling take the spot

It normally takes at least a year for a full ACL recovery and Ehinger didn't have surgery until late November 2016.

I don't expect him to play this season but if he does, it might be a bonus, unless Mama just kicks all kinds of ass.

JR Nelson will take Phillip Gaines roster spot

pugsnotdrugs19 07-26-2017 12:17 PM

In terms of experience, no position is deeper on the Chiefs roster than the OL.

The starting OL is Fish-Fulton-Morse-LDT-Schwartz as long as Ehinger is unavailable. Still, that leaves you with Reid, Tiller, Person, and Witzmann with some experience. Add in Mama and his potential on top of that.

There is no excuse for the Chiefs to not find a solid 8 or so guys to make the roster.

This should be a focus the next two years to build a dominate OL. The best two OL's finished 12-4 and 13-3 last year and we need Mahomy to not be pressured and have a solid run game behind him.

Right, and you usually lose a bunch of upper body strength due to atrophy since you can do anything but rehab work for 6-12 weeks after a shoulder scope. I just hope he can still block after not being able to lift heavy for months.
