One thing that needs to be cleared up that #1 picks are more valuable under the new CBA than under the old one. You don't want to waste them.

The reasoning that says "well, we don't have to spend as much money on this #1 pick, so lets just pick a QB and roll the dice." That is bogus. The #1 pick is worth more in compensation through trades with the new CBA. You forfeit more potential players via trade now than ever before if you are not willing to trade down.

You do realize that we got Houston with a 3rd round pick.

The one good move Pioli made. Basically, he was our 1st rounder and Baldwin was the 3rd, as it turned out. Like 2008: Charles was our 1st (#5 overall) and Dorsey ended up being the 3rd (#73)

The only reason Pioli chose him was because he was a first round talent that fell into his lap in the third round all because of a failed marijuana test at the combine. Pioli got lucky with Houston and Berry was just the pick that everyone would've made.

Jarvis Jones is the most likely person to trade up for. Possibly Star, but the combine will help clear this up.

It would be great for the Chiefs if JJones tore up the combine.

Yes. If Star has a combine like Poe. No problem. And yes the medical will be critical at the combine.

If Star has a combine like Poe? People other than Scott Pioli aren't stupid enough to draft someone based solely on the combine.

The point was not about Pioli's ability to draft, but that if the Chiefs can trade down and obtain a few picks that those picks are very valuable.

Geno Smith took two safeties against Syracuse. He is not worth the #1 pick. Chiefs need to trade down!

He's a good run stopper, that is strong and athletic.

Guys like Russell Wilson, Rg3, cam newton, Colin kapaernick are what the future of the NFL will look like. The shotgun and spread offense is replacing the traditional
Drop back style, and it's happening because kids are starting this stuff in highscool, learning it well in college, and arriving in the NFL more ready than ever before. I'll say what I've said all along, Geno Smith isn't projected as a first pick because he isn't of the traditional mold. For the right offense and coach, he could be the perfect fit as a franchise QB.
Everyone is waiting for the next Manning, but they should be looking for the next RG3.

However many analysts are saying that since Syracuse has Geno’s number, and he struggled in a muddy meaningless bowl game he shouldn’t even be a first round pick.
