Man, that is a 5 star WTF ! |
One thing that needs to be cleared up that #1 picks are more valuable under the new CBA than under the old one. You don't want to waste them.
The reasoning that says "well, we don't have to spend as much money on this #1 pick, so lets just pick a QB and roll the dice." That is bogus. The #1 pick is worth more in compensation through trades with the new CBA. You forfeit more potential players via trade now than ever before if you are not willing to trade down. Look at the following non QB trades: http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft2012/sto.../trade-tracker Cleveland Browns: Acquire pick No. 3 in 2012 Trent Richardson Minnesota Vikings: Acquire picks No. 4, No. 118, No. 139 and No. 211 Matt Kalil Jacksonville Jaguars: Acquire pick No. 5 in 2012 Justin Blackmon Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Acquire picks No. 7 and No. 101 Mark Barron Dallas Cowboys: Acquire pick No. 6 in 2012 Morris Claiborne St. Louis Rams: Acquire picks No. 14 and No. 45 Michael Brockers Philadelphia Eagles: Acquire pick No. 12 in 2012 Fletcher Cox Seattle Seahawks: Acquire picks No. 15, No. 114 and No. 172 Bruce Irvin New England Patriots: Acquire pick No. 21 in 2012 Chandler Jones Cincinnati Bengals: Acquire picks No. 27 and No. 93 Kevin Zeitler NewEngland Patriots: Acquire pick No. 25 in 2012 Donta Hightower Denver Broncos: Acquire picks No. 31 and No. 126 Doug Martin Minnesota Vikings: Acquire pick No. 29 in 2012 Harrison Smith Baltimore Ravens: Acquire picks No. 35 and No. 98 Courtney Upshaw Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Acquire picks No. 31 and No. 126 Doug Martin Denver Broncos: Acquire picks No. 36 and No. 101 Derek Wolfe |
**** trading down. I'm tired of hearing about it every damn year. Identify the guy that's the best prospect in the draft for us and take him. It will be a QB guarendamteed.
|
Look at these 2011 trades:
2011 Draft Notes Browns trade the No. 6 pick to the Falcons for the No. 27 pick, second-round (No. 59) and fourth-round (No. 124) picks in the 2011 draft and first- and fourth-round picks in the 2012 draft. Redskins trade the No. 10 pick to the Jaguars for the No. 16 pick and a second-round pick (No. 49). Chiefs trade the No. 21 pick to the Browns for the No. 27 pick (through the Falcons) and a third-round pick (No. 70). Ravens originally owned No. 26 pick but time elapsed on the draft clock, allowing Chiefs to make the 26th pick. Ravens made the No. 27 selection. Patriots trade the No. 28 pick to the Saints for a second-round (No. 56) pick in the 2011 draft and a first-round pick in the 2012 draft. |
You do realize that we got Houston with a 3rd round pick.

Who are these teams going to want to be trading up for?

It would be great for the Chiefs if JJones tore up the combine.
|
Jarvis Jones, who has a medical condition, the same one that caused multiple players to previously drop multiple rounds?
Or Star, the dlineman with no pass rushing skills? |
Yes. If Star has a combine like Poe. No problem. And yes the medical will be critical at the combine.
|
If Star has a combine like Poe? People other than Scott Pioli aren't stupid enough to draft someone based solely on the combine.

Geno Smith took two safeties against Syracuse. He is not worth the #1 pick. Chiefs need to trade down!
|
He's a good run stopper, that is strong and athletic.
He's about as polished as a pass rusher as a thousand year old penny. |

True, but you can only play the hand you are dealt.
I'm telling you guys if the W.V. defense holds on against the Gooners, people look at him in a completely different light. He was a man possessed to get that team the lead...Still being mocked number 1 in about 75 percent of drafts....heh. |

Yes, because seeing someone play in person is much more revealing than being able to rewind tape and take turns scanning and studying the entire play develop......

I'm really enjoying how all these trolls are registering here just to tell us that Geno sucks.
I bet after the Chiefs take Geno, you'll go back into the world of lurking, right? |
Anyone who is against drafting a QB #1 doesn't have a right to have an opinion

The NFL is changing and it's happening before our eyes. The days of the pure pocket passers like manning and Brady are coming to an end. Guys like Russell Wilson, Rg3, cam newton, Colin kapaernick are what the future of the NFL will look like. The shotgun and spread offense is replacing the traditional
Drop back style, and it's happening because kids are starting this stuff in highscool, learning it well in college, and arriving in the NFL more ready than ever before. I'll say what I've said all along, Geno Smith isn't projected as a first pick because he isn't of the traditional mold. For the right offense and coach, he could be the perfect fit as a franchise QB. Everyone is waiting for the next Manning, but they should be looking for the next RG3. |

Geno Smith Struggles in Pinstripe Bowl, Draft Stock Killed?
ESPN's Tod McShay questions Geno Smith's first-round status: In a muddy, snowy, mess of a game versus Syracuse Geno and his Mountaineers struggled to put on one of their signature offensive displays. Geno’s stat line was still respectable going 16-24 for 187 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. However many analysts are saying that since Syracuse has Geno’s number, and he struggled in a muddy meaningless bowl game he shouldn’t even be a first round pick. Especially ESPN Analyst Todd McShay. In a recorded segment McShay said that Geno “may be a first rounder” and that there are only two quarterbacks that would go in the first round. Of course right on cue ESPN rolled clips of Mike Glennon. 2013 NFL Draft: Mel Kiper Says Geno Smith and Matt Barkley are Second Rounders Today on ESPN Draft expert Mel Kiper said that the top 2013 draft quarterbacks Geno Smith and Matt Barkley are looking at being drafted in the “25 to 35″ range right now. Kiper cited a lack of a top tier passer, and said that NC State’s Mike Glennon is right up there with the top two passers as well. http://www.mockdrafthq.com/wp-conten...inia-meme.jpeg |
