I knew you wanted Thomas....and I tried my hardest not to take him. I just didn't see anyone that was really worth that pick. The 49ers can use a safety.
|
Plus if Mays was there.....it would have been him over Thomas.

Yeah....there was a list of about 5 people that I wanted with the 49ers picks in the 1st round.....and I didn't get any of them. ****ing assholes.

Nice pick Direckshun. I was going to reach for Mays if Spiller wasn't there.
|
I should probably go on record saying that I hate Pest's second pick. Especially since he already upgraded the secondary once.
He should have gone with Bruce Campbell, the second best LT in this entire Draft. |

Good job, OTW. Another great Draft. Have a great one, guys. I'll see you all next year. |
With the 18th pick in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft the Pittsburgh Steelers select Rolando McClain ILB Alabama
With James Farrior turning 35, they need someone to take hold of the middle of their defense and Rolando gives them an outstanding prospect there. |
That's not to bad the Steelers would pick between him and Iupati there, tough call for them.

Even with the signing of Robinson, I could see the Falcons drafting Kyle Wilson here. They traded Houston and don't really have a decent #2 corner.
|
Last I head the Falcons love Wilson.
Although considering who's on the board here I know where I'd go... |

Damn, I am struggling with a couple guys for the Bengals in 2 picks...
Antonio Bryant's signing today throws a wrench into things as well as Earl Thomas and Taylor Mays already off the board. |

I know who I have rated very high and if he falls a little more, I'd like to see the Chiefs, possibly trade up for him. I'd rather not say who he is, just to see how far he falls. If he's drafted in the mock, I'll say the players name.
|
With the 19th pick in the 2010 NFL draft that Atlanta Falcons select
Sean Weatherspoon LB Mizzou. This gives them a vocal leader and great player to continue to build the defense around. I was really torn between Kyle Wilson, Griffen and I even considered Golden Tate and a couple others. They just made a significant investment at corner in FA, Griffin has motivation issues and 19 may be a little high for a slot receiver (Tate in that offense) Maybe not the best pick, but I think he is gonna be a superstar and you dont pass on those. |
And Boss made the pick I would have made lol.
|
That's a damn good pick.
|
3 hours left before I head home. I wonder if I'll get a chance to make my pick....

Damn, I didnt even get a chance to PM OTWP and his pick is already on the board!
Well oiled machine! |
Couple of real value picks left on the board...
|
Annnnnnnnnd we're flying....
|
If I had the opportunity, I'd be looking to trade down here. The Texans have a CB they really like, but he'd be a reach here, and we'd be shocked if he's still on the board when we pick at 51.
Even more frustrating is that IMO, the need doesn't meet the value here - had Weatherspoon lasted one more pick I would have very seriously considered taking him and playing him at WILL with Cushing and Ryan. But he didn't, which puts me in the position of picking someone that I'm not terrible happy to take here. I hope the lack of competition faced doesn't come back to haunt us. The Texans select Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State |
Cushing - Ryan - Witherspoon
That would be have been a sick LB group. JFC. |
I really wanted either Earl Thomas or Taylor Mays with this pick, but both are off the board. WR would have been the other position I would have strongly considered, but with Antonio Bryant signed today, that becomes less of a pressing need. Truth be told, I would have probably signed Brandon Marshall to an offer sheet and hoped to get him with this pick, but all that didn't happen.
So, the Bengals take the highest rated player on their board, regardless of position. The Bengals could really use help at the interior line spots, as well as the DT spots. Brian Price was a definite consideration here, but following their board, the Bengals select Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho. |
Damn, that's not where I would have gone but ok not a bad pick.
|
I would have taken Gresham I think...but Iupati is a good pick!
|
I'd have gone with Brian Price, see we all have different views there.

I'm pretty sure I'll get who I want for the Packers unless Hamas just makes a bizarre pick.
|
I've got a good idea who you're taking, Mecca. Hamas, I'm not so sure about but I don't think he'll take the player I have in mind for the Pack.
BTW, glad to see you back in the loop. |
I'll be thrilled if can wrap up the 1st round tonight or early tomorrow morning.
|
How is campbell still on the board?

Campbell is going to the Pack.....I can see it now.

You guys don't know me very well.
|
Random thought. If Gresham falls to KC's 2a, should they draft him? Even if Cody is still on the board?
|
That's not happening, if he falls to this point expect him to be a Raven.

I like how this is shaping the 2nd round.

I think mecca will take Charles Brown or Tate. Jmo.

Hamas could take campbell as a development player, or he could go odrick or price depending on what he thinks new englands defensive scheme plans are.

If he's going to take a DL he should take Odrick, NE takes certain kinds of linemen and he fits that bill.
|
Odricks a good pick. I wonder if Mecca reaches for a CB for Green Bay or goes o-line.

This is easily the most interesting first round we've had in the four years I've been doing this.
You guys really think about these selections hard, and it shows. This is probably the most thoughtful mock I've followed. |
Hamas probably won't take any of the players I'm looking at but if this pick really came out Green Bay sits here with basically 5 players they could go with.
They'd either be in the cat bird seat or they could drop down a few picks one or the other. I'm 90% sure who I'm taking but there's a little bit of creeping in there looking at who else is there. |

My thought is Mecca goes with Anthony Davis or Damian Williams.
|
There are, by my count, three viable second tier left tackles on the board. Intriguing.

Well 2 of the players I'm looking at here have been mentioned...I don't feel Green Bay should go WR with their 1st pick, not with the talent on the board here so Tate and Williams no.

if i were the ravens, i'd be praying for Tate
they still need youth and speed at WR, and someone to really take advantage of Flacco's arm.... |
Pretty apeshit, I even saw Jeremiah call Bulaga a RT, when scouts are doing it, not good.
