I agree with you - we live in an era where you can find anything if you search hard enough. I guarantee you I listen to more obscure stuff that you do and I still absolutely agree that there's plenty of good new music out there, as I said previously. The OP's point still stands - the stuff the industry is trying to spoon feed us is mostly lowest common denominator garbage. |

It is funny watching someone who seems to have been like "the music industry used to give me good music and now it doesn't" Also the thread title is "today's music is mostly garbage" which is just silly. This is like saying "Today's food is mostly garbage!!" "Advertising has been pushing McDonalds on me for years and I had a double cheese burgher today and I don't like it!" Like...ok? |

- Mentioned a jerk off comment you made - Talked about why I made my post (the thread title) - Made a non music comparison to what the OP was doing in this thread |

My wife listens to a lot of new alternative pop/rock, mostly as background music on satellite radio, and I do notice a lot of is more electronic than what I'd consider rock based. More of a "vibes" feel with little to no edge. I honestly don't mind much of it, not my thing, but I can still pick up the artistic expression happening. Just my observation
I've been into hardcore punk and metal for 40 years and I actually see more aggro and toxic masculinity coming back in style with the newer, younger bands. I like that even though its not representative of who I am. Its almost like things are cyclical and go in and out of style with different generations I actually stopped going to punk and metal shows in Chicago (I'm talking art space, basement, "message for address" shows, not venue/bars gigs) because a late 40s white guy at an underground show by himself looks like 5.0 and makes people uncomfortable LMAO |
Gotta admit, I do the Microsoft rewards quizzes every once in awhile and I don't think I've ever gotten one right answer in the entertainment categories. Between all the good podcasts, AI and my Pandora list I'm in my own little world when it comes to entertainment.
If my sister wouldn't have given me her old Fire TV for the office I to watch a movie and the 6 o'clock news every once in awhile I'd be the equivalent of one of those Japanese soldiers stuck on the Mariana Islands that didn't know the war ended until 1952 as far as pop culture is concerned. |

I think it's incredibly worthy to note...
The Song "Not Like Us" by Kendrick that won SONG AND RECORD of the year, it's merely just an elaborate way of calling one of the highest selling artists of all time a pedophile. Then everybody at the grammys sang along and also called that man a pedophile. Kendrick will likely perform this song at the Superbowl and accuse that man of being a pedophile in front of 100 million people live. But we get ****ing banned for doing the same thing to faceless internet trolls on chiefsplanet.com? Make it make sense. |

Alt Nation is where it’s at. Unfortunately we lost alt rock in kc with 96.5 folding and 105.1 being short lived. |
