This is actually not the case. Efficacy of the vaccine wanes. You get the best protection through the bulk of the season by getting the shot in early October. If you're 65+, the math changes a bit.

Thank you for the correction, Hamas! https://www.theatlantic.com/health/a...winter/671553/

You're probably fine, but I've always been told to wait until October. That way you're getting the best protection as flu season ramps up and then also ramps down.

Thanks, TLO! I appreciate the information. https://www.theatlantic.com/health/a...winter/671553/

No

Never get it, never get the flu.

The UK doesn't recommend for anyone but the elderly. I suspect financial reasons for the US pushing it on everyone.

I will at some point.

FlaChief58 09-11-2023 05:17 PM

Haven't had one since I got out of the Air Force in 92 and that won't change this year either

Casyle 09-11-2023 05:26 PM

I'm leaning towards no, since I haven't had more than a very mild cold/flu in nearly 5 years now.

It's amazing how much weight alone can apparently affect your susceptibility to colds/flu. When I was a 320 -350 lb land whale I got a bad flu every-single-year. Like, spewing from every orifice bad. Once I got down to 180/190, and started working out and exercising, well, haven't been more than very mildly sick since, and even that's uncommon.

Sooo, I voted undecided, since I'll occasionally get it if asked, but leaning towards a flat no anymore, since it just doesn't seem necessary for me now.

I always get one.

ChiliConCarnage 09-11-2023 06:57 PM

I guess same answer as last year. They normally come by work and it's easy so I'll likely do it.

I’ve never gotten a flu shot and have never gotten the flu!

In all seriousness, that is true. People have always told me I’d know if I had the flu as opposed to the cold so I don’t think I ever have.

Irony folks. ThaVirus never got ThaFluVirus

Give yourself a few days after getting Shingrix. That shot lays some people down for a few days

Used to get the flu vaccine every year. Decided I won't get it any longer. Won't get the clot shot either. #pureblood
