Yup. The Lions are a good team, and we were missing our first-ballot-HOF tight end. Toney was rusty. Those are fixable problems.

Getting the bye this year may be tough, but (barring injury) we should add two all pros to the roster by the end of the year. We'll be fine.

I'm happy for Lions fan, but I wonder how they're really feeling today?

When the Chiefs beat the Patriots to kick off the season a number of years ago, we absolutely destroyed them. They were picked apart by Alex Smith and Kareem Hunt.

The Lions wom by 1 point in a game where a WR for the Chiefs was their MVP.

I feel some inkling of happiness for Detroit - but they didn't exactly set the world on fire last night.

A win is a win.

They’re in first place in their division for the first time in a billion years lol I don’t think they care that we weren’t at full strength or didn’t play our best game because, in truth, they weren’t at full strength and didn’t bring their A game either.

So should I put the banner away and not call the company to fly the plane over the stadium? :hmmm:

Honestly think our defense is being over looked.

Our DE's were getting consistent pressure, and LB core was shutting their run game down enough.

I think our defense has a chance to be special

Its funny, my expectations were completely wrong about this game.

I thought our defense would be exposed and Mahomes was gonna have to win a 41-38 kind of shootout with our new WR corps. Instead our defense completely kept us in the game while our WR is the direct reason we lost.

Yeah, they looked very mediocre outside of a couple guys on defense, especially as the game went on.... I know we're all wired to talk about how shitty the Chiefs looked, but it was mostly bad football all around.

I always get a kick out of "they won x out of y!!" because it's usually against a crazy weak ass schedule.... I mean, I'm sure most Lions fans are just happy they're no longer a 2-win team, just like we were with Alex Smith. The media hype is the funny part though.

I'm only a little disappointed as I thought we would be more on point and not need stupid plays in week one on 3rd and 1 or 2nd and goal.

Defense only let up 14 points and were on the field 5 minutes longer. They also had a big break from end of first half through our first series in 2nd half.

Good wake up call for team.

OnTheWarpath15 09-08-2023 08:55 AM

Yeah, I think I was mostly in shock last night. You don't expect this team to be so out of sorts in Week 1.

We hadn't lost a Week 1 game since 2014. We're ALWAYS dialed in.

Mr_Tomahawk 09-08-2023 08:55 AM

It took a fake punt, pick-6, down 2 of our top 3 players, and poor WR play to beat us by 1.

We are fine.

Then he needs to do the things to earn those snaps, whatever that is.

Yeah, I was thinking it could be like the Cards game last season... playing a hyped up team and the Chiefs steamroll them.

Or even without Kelce and CJ, look like they've practiced since winning the SB...

That franchise has won nothing. I hope they feel good today.

After a loss, it’s always the betas posting about wanting players cut or “we must sign Mike Evans!!!!!!”, mewling about the draft 4,3,2 years past. “We could have had Tee Higgins”.

Buncha xx chromosomed birth canals.

RunKC 09-08-2023 09:06 AM

In 2017 the Chiefs blew out the Patriots at Foxborough. They went on to the SB.

The Bengals got embarrassed by the Steeers in week 1 last year. They gave up a ton of pressures and sacks and Burrow was hurting badly. They made the championship game.

The Bills blew out the Rams and looked unbeatable in the season opener. They fizzled out and got blown out at home in the playoffs.

Long season fellas
