Andy Reid vs Dan Campbell… anytime… but especially week one… is a coaching mismatch to put it mildly.

Holy God, thank you.

Forget the spread. KC has been terrible about covering for the last couple years. Plus, the Chiefs only managed 6 double-digit Ws in 2022. Take out those games, and the average margin of victory for KC was about 3 points.

IIrc, DET is going to be missing a few players that would've been possible difference makers, i think due to injury?

of course, we'll be missing CJ. Possibly Toney. Depends on how much he practices next week and how well, I'd imagine.

i think the game will be a lot closer than it should be, due to CJ's absence. Not just because of his pass-rushing either. He's become the best run-stuffer on the DL as well, and DET likes to run the ball. That should narrow the margin somewhat for DET.

And we can't forget that DET won 8 of their last 10 in 2022, in large part due to their defense coming together.

And their offense is credible. Goff can play the position, and while not elite, he can stand and deliver passes anywhere on the field, if not harassed too much. It helps that he has a nice array of WRs to throw to, and a solid RB corps to take some of the heat off of him.

However, it's Week 1, and I expect DET to come out a bit rusty. Chiefs usually come out pretty good in the opener, so I expect the Chief to win, though by 3-4, not 7.

Good gods, man, you keep doing this -

Chiefs won "only 6 games by double digits"

You mean like HALF?

Did we play a 12 game season? Could've sworn the Chiefs played 20 games . . .

The Lions still have a terrible defense.

I see a 38-27ish type game that's close for awhile until the Chiefs lay down the law in the 4th.

We're not letting the banner drop be tarnished.

Yeah, so I did some research, and KC played a full regular season slate in 2022 (I knew it!!!!), which is 17 games, not 12. So 6 games out of 17 games . . . carry the 1 . . . that's not half (50%), but actually 35% (6/17).

But my post was with gambling and the spread in mind, so I was really thinking about the reg season plus playoffs, which, as I stated, is really 20 games played in 2022. Was pretty sure about that one, since I bet on nearly every game last year.

Now, in doing that research I found that I missed the SEA game, so it wasn't 6 games, but 7 games KC won by double-digits.

But that's still just 35%, when considering every actual game played, 20.

So, no, not HALF.

Hope that clear.:)

CHIEFS 90 DETROIT 0 Let the fun begin.

MMXcalibur 08-29-2023 10:33 PM

This is going to be our toughest game to date on the season.

The Lions are coming in undefeated and we haven't won a game. Hope we can hang with 'em and make it interesting in the 4th quarter.

Interesting. I don't see where the CJ news has moved the line.
