Andy and Sutton need to turn the OLB position into a full on open competition these next couple weeks IMO.

Put some pressure on Ford. Cause we can't field that crap that he put on tape Saturday. Let the best man win and start across Hali week 1.

Well said, we can only hope that happens.

At the moment I don't see the defense being that great. You are not a great defense in this league of routine 4000 yard passers if you can't rush the passer. I don't see where it is coming from.

As for the offense--yeah it looks improved, but although Reid is a great schemer, his play-calling is weird. Kelce needs to be a much bigger focus this season than he has been.

Do some people on CP not understand that you can get a pass rush from your interior also?

Hali/Ford and any combination of Poe/Jones/Bailey/Howard is still better than what most teams have.

People are completely overreacting about Ford's pass rush. All the negative reports and the game have been about run defense. He got to get after it once in that game, and he even created pressure when he did.

I'm not concerned about Ford's pass rush, personally.

I'm concerned about his discipline, or lack thereof, on the edge against the run.

That's something so underappreciated about Houston and Hali. Yes, they are elite edge rushers and that's why they make all the $$$. But, they also create more pass rush opportunities by shutting down the run and screen game. They also happen to be far better than Dee in pass coverage, too.

Honestly, I hate to say it, but when I watch Ford I see a 4-3 DE 100%. He's stiff and slow in space. Not sure he can ever be more than a situational guy for us.

That's because you're evaluating him at SOLB. You can say all of those thugs about Hali as well, especially before his transition to 3/4 OLB. He'd be fine at WOLB with Houston on the other side.

I am starting to have a lot of confidence in this management team.

Yeah, I didn't realize Streater was such a good pickup. Pretty pumped up about that guy.

Depth this year was clearly a huge concern.

I was worried about ILB, WR, and S going in to the draft and at this point I think the cuts will hurt at ILB and WR.

Quietly we've loaded both positions.

I'm still not a fan of Dorsey-drafts but from that point to week 1 he's brilliant...

Seriously?

Offense should take 2 steps forward; O-line, WR and even RB upgraded.

Defense will take a step back until everyone is healthy and when secondary is settled.

How can you not be a fan of Dorsey drafts? Especially after this draft. He has drafted some real talent and built incredible depth on this team mostly through the draft. Peters was DROY, LDT is starting at guard, Morris starting at center, Ehinger at guard. Just to scratch the surface. He has had some of the best drafts for KC in the last 25+ years. In fact, I would challenge you to show me anyone in the league that has drafted better in the last 4 years( other than Seattle of course, lol)

Dorsey has been great at drafting.

IMO, he's as good a GM as they come.

Part of why you get blasted is the BS in bold above. Name one person that didn't think Schwartz would be a huge addition. However, they didn't all create threads to pat themselves on the back for their Captain Obvious "takes".

I think John Dorsey has done an excellent job with respect to drafting over the past years.
As a result, our player personnel is getting better starting wise and depth wise.

However, I still don't feel optimistic and hopeful that the Chiefs will win a SuperBowl.

The problem with this team lies within the coaching and quarterback.

Even though Alex Smith is a winner, I never seen him as a guy that could carry a team through controversy. If the Chiefs are losing, forget it. Their chances of coming back to win a football game aren't good. Alex Smith isnt the guy that will be engineering game tying or winning drives. He is the main reason why the Chiefs aren't a come from behind team.

Combine that with the fact the Chiefs have a coach in Andy Reid that doesn't know how to manage a game clock or call sensible plays at the right time when needed be and also Sutton can't make defensive adjustments during games.

It's the same sh*t. Don't forget this folks. Let's keep this reality in perspective and remember these are the reasons the Chiefs won't win a SuperBowl under this regime.
