People are setting themselves up for a great disappointment.

Carl's replacement has already been decided.

Bill Kuharich will take over the GM duties and Denny Thum will take over the title of President.

Mark my words.

Uh, you're joking right?

It would accomplish nothing - the underlying, inescapable problem with this team is it's fan base.....any foo' can see that!!

Truth sucks, doesn't it?

Then Kuharick will trade a whole draft for one player...

What we've seen the Patriots do is quite remarkable. Jerry Jones won 3 titles in the early 90's and then what? CP has had 13 winning seasons out of 18. He's had a team go to the playoff half of those years. Only six other teams have more appearances than that. The guy's home record since he's been here is tied for the best with Denver at 107-37. He's compiled a winning percentage of 68%. Just playing devil's advocate.

And every other team in the AFC West has been to the super bowl more recently than us. I believe we have the 3rd longest playoff win drought in the NFL.

It's not that we expect to be great every year. We simply expect to be at least average on a year to year basis. We don't even have that. We have been below average during Carl's tenure as GM.

Who knows. Lamar Hunt was the owner when Kuharich was hired. Perhaps Clark Hunt has a slightly different plan in mind than his father did.

With every failure run off just means the franchise is that much closer to hiring somebody good. So if they already front office replacements in place and they aren't any good then lets get them in place as soon as possible so they can be fired also.

Mecca 09-17-2007 04:28 PM

If you want change really hope the Chiefs really suck and become a laughing stock, that'll do it.

My choice would be to throw as much $$$ at Scott Pioli and try to lure him to KC. The Chiefs are actually a desirable situation for a GM when you consider that you have an owner who is going to stay out of the way and provide the $$$ needed to compete in free agency, a rabid fanbase and nearly $300 million in renovations on the way to Arrowhead.

Pioli had an offer on the table from the New York Giants, a team he grew up following and a team that lives just mintues from where he grew up and where his parents live now. They also offered him more money than New England.

But he decided to stay there.

Pioli isn't leaving.

Denny Thum as President would be fine. He is one of the best NFL executives on the business side. I would hope they go out of the organization for the football side though.

The Chiefs not hire someone from their good old boy network?

That's probably more of a dream than Carl and Herm being gone after this year.
