Yeah I'm towards the end now just gotta fight Krauser and everything after that. It's been a great remake so far, improved on alot of the fights and mechanics. That Ramon Salazar fight is infinitely more difficult than the original fight, shotgun doesnt have the range and sniper rifle is too slow so it's difficult to go between those, and that's just on normal.

The nice thing is you can resell your upgraded weapon for the better version, like the starter shotgun gets replaced by the riot shotgun then by the auto shotty just like in the original so for a heavy hitting scatter shot beefing up that, the rifle and the magnum when you get it is a good strategy, then just sell the lesser version later to get the newer version.

Also save your treasures you get, the ones that you can put jewels into and then put those jewels into the item before selling it to the merchant. I've gotten 75000 pesetas off a crown last night that I put five jewels into, it's crazy. As with most Resident Evil games I'm looking forward to the second playthrough of ultimate power and upgraded weapons.

Not sure where I heard the recommendation, but I've been playing tainted grail conquest lately. Not a game I ever would have tried but I like it.

13 hours into Division 2 main story line. Im having a blast with this game
model 700 +VX1
m870 express shotty +VX1
586 magnum

thats my favorite loadout so far. Im getting pretty good at shooting from the hip. if you have a scope on your shotty, you can tap the RMB to see where the default reticle is.

Right.

The professional reviews aren't any better, either.

Here's GameInformer's quick review from yesterday:

"Even when bugs didn't plague our experience in Crime Boss: Rockay City, we were left to play through repetitive, agonizingly boring missions with unremarkable gunplay, uninspired stealth, and lackluster action."

Sounds like a game trying to get by with the amazing ensemble.

I almost wish I had never played it so I could jump in fresh now, I'm at the point where the only thing I'm really missing is the Regulus and it's not only Raid only but you have to keep farming the raid to build it. I'm not that great with headshots anyway.

I wasn't overly impressed with the gameplay, Payday might not look as good but it's way more fun. ;)

I felt like it got redundant quick. Was just kind of base ARPG gameplay, nothing stood out.

Kind of like a print of a real painting. Looks good, but it aint the real thing.

They do many things BETTER than any other ARPG, The Crafting is unmatched. Gameplay loop is top notch very close to Diablo 2 in my eyes. You can make your own builds without having to look up build vids and serious number crunching. If something drops in Coop you can trade those items back and forth as many times as you like and coming in 1.0 is the Dynamic Trade system not seen in any other game.

So I originally bought this game like 5 years ago. I have played it in several phases of development. I also put about 30 hours into the multiplayer, so I got my time out of it, but it was also plagued with bugs, server issues, weird gameplay loop etc. One thing I found was that In certain situations I could craft items over and over again without losing the mats due to server issues. That was pretty fun lol

I have a group that I play games with, including our venerable BUCK of CP fame. All of us ended up at the same conclusion, but ill be honest I bowed out first. At a certain point it just wasnt fun building up points to fight boss and rinse/repeating.

I also got more time out of the d4 beta than I could stomach putting into last epoch.

Not that its bad. I actually favor it over something like PoE, but I prefer d2, d3, d4 over Last Epoch.

D3 is the exception, it gets boring within a few days of ladder reset. I'm done with D2 I played it way too long. I'll be playing Diablo 4 as well but to be honest I don't like what they're doing with the trading system as in very limited. I've read you CANNOT even share drops with your present coop buds. That's a huge turn off to me but yes I'll definitely be playing it, remains to be seen if I like it more or less than Last Epoch.

I also bought Last Epoch when it was first available and it was pure trash, it's come a long way and is a total passion project for the Devs that grew up on Diablo 2 as Did I.

I was definitely going to buy D4, but now I'm kind of on the fence. I feel like it's going to be -grind dungeons to get desired legendary, then grind dungeons to get the rares with the 4 or 5 stats rolled how you want, put the legendary effect on the rare and then repeat to get perfect gear. That type of loop, I just find so meh and unexciting.

Bump 04-04-2023 06:24 PM

and the little of the beta I got to try out, the skill tree seemed completely linear. But you couldn't go past level 25 so you don't see the whole thing. But it was still linear. Level up, choose a skill out of 3 or 4 skills, then upgrade that skill with each one having 2 choices and you can only pick one. Then level up some more, choose a skill out of 3 or 4 and upgrade that skill with one of two options. Meh

So I believe the trade system in d4 is very similar to something like WOW.

Some drops are 'bind on pickup' and some are 'bind on equip'. Now what the scope of those are remains to be seen.

Only rare and below are tradeable, that's really lame. I never liked WOW and I've never been a fan of raids. Haven't seen an MMO that I liked a lot yet.

I'm sure I will like the game but not being able to trade stuff your buddy was with you when you found is just plain dumb.

Can you even stash the item and put it on another character?

No ****ing shot I'm playing that beyond 1 play through, if at all, over other similar games available for free.

OH I'm sure you can do that, but trading in Diablo 2 was half of the game. No way People were going to get Zod runes etc to drop. You probably have a better chance at winning the lottery. Dupers made the game great tbh, if they had not duped those High runes the game wouldn't have been half as fun.

I botted in that game and I never found a Zod. Highest rune I ever got was Ber and I'm pretty sure most of the Zod runes were cubed and then duped. Imagine all that grind and not being able to trade for endgame gear... lol. That is such a stupid ass change.

I'm not being facetious, this is a real question as I am just curious how people view ARPGs in general. What sort of grind loop do you like more? Something that lets you min/max abilities in interesting ways?

I like the grind of the ARPG and minmaxing. But being able to trade all of your loot, even if you have used it, is a pretty big feature of the genre.

Look at PoE. They have trade leagues and solo self found leagues. All of their races and rewards are in the hardcore solo self found league. However, the overwhelming majority of the player base still plays softcore trade because of just that, trade. You have to be some kind of degenerate playing this genre of game with no ability to trade gear you've used, or in some cases even just picked up in your personally generated loot table. The players that play in those solo self found races are NEVER able to min max their gear and it's basically their job to play since they stream it on twitch for money.

I played POE when it first hit what was basically Early Access. I've tried to play it over and over but the beginning is just too slow and the graphics are too dated for my tastes. I will however be jumping in to POE 2 whenever it releases.

Trading is a HUGE part of this genre and why D2 was so huge, the drop rates in that game were abysmal but hackers and traders made it into a classic and probably what the genre is most known for.

LMAO It's Soulsborne gameplay with a Star Wars skin. Kind of hard to **** that up, especially after you did the first one well.

The customization looks way better for Cal, though. Already see a huge improvement there.

I actually prefer the way PoE looks over Diablo. It's definitely not as high def or detailed as Diablo is, but Diablo is starting to push into cartoonish looking, imo, whereas PoE is more rough.

Wasn't criticizing it. Just saying it's bound to be excellent unless they went full reerun trying to reinvent the wheel instead of further exploring what already worked well.

Yeah, in the grand scheme of things, I don't buy that many games. But the games I do buy, I play for a long time, sometimes months. So my back catalog is still pretty large when you consider that.

Yup. Heck I beat the Witcher 3 a while ago and then picked it back up when the PS5 upgrade came out and played it all over again and considering how long that game is, it took quite a while to beat it......again. This is without dedicating much time to the Blood and Wine expansion. Now my efforts are on the 2018 God of War.

Very nice if you're on PC this MOD overhaul for Wonderlands will add new rarities, highly farmable areas and bosses as well as different ways to play and such. Adds Unique Rarities and targetted loot where the loot will tell you it's drop sources.

Looks pretty good. I still contemplate getting a Switch from time to time. Perhaps I will for this game, especially if it is as good as I have heard Breath of the Wild is.

I will still play it, I'm sure. Black Flag was just so so good.

I recently played and beat Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of Wisps. Those games were incredibly fun. Great story, looks amazing, gameplay is super fun.

I'm probably way behind because these games have been out for a while but just wanted to point out how great they are.

Sounds like you've got the Metroidvania itch. Look into Hollow Knight, which IMO is the pinnacle of the genre. It's difficult but rewarding.

Already beat that one. But yeah I love those types of games. I beat Steamworld Dig 1 & 2 as well.

It's the only reason I still buy Nintendo systems to be honest, is primarily for the new Zelda titles. Still pissed that they did the HD remasters of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess on that abomination of a system Wii U, still waiting for those ports on Switch, but Skyward Sword port was nice.

I had planned on it until I heard it was like a MMO and I had to be online to play. Have zero desire to play after that.

You can play switch games on PC, and on your Steam Deck

I wouldn't mind if it was coop but forced pvp isn't/never was my thing.

I suppose but there continues to be insistence that the two games are pretty different. I guess we'll see - nobody really knows what Skull and Bones plays like because it's still vaporware. ROFL

Hey I'll play it if it's not forced PVP, I just know Ubishaft all too well and how they are dead set on forcing PVP on every one in every game. They keep trying to make Battle Royal type games or incorporating that style forcibly on Solo/Coop Players. They see how much $ EA and the Fortnite boys are making and want a piece of the pie but that genre is already too crowded for the few kids that play it.

In short I would love to be wrong, and hope that I am.

Anyone playing 'Mercenaries' as part of the new RE4???

I loved it back in the day, and even more in the remake. Have S+ rating in each location.....got 800,000 on the castle map, just a tick outside the bottom of the leaderboard.

New Roguelite game mode for anyone interested. You can install the PTS and playtest it tomorrow. Update Launches in early June.

Ok so you keep going until you either die/extract for rewards or Face your Nemesis..and the Nemesis is a carbon copy of you. Can you beat yourself? :)

Seems like that's what Wildcard/Ark is heading towards. Well, Dark Souls with dinos that turns pvp in multiplayer.

God I hate Snail games. Wildcard's ideas are brilliant but their implementation and development are complete ass. Every deadline is missed and the lies are incessant.

Redfall is getting crucified (hey-o) by players who were able to play it early. There seems to be a high chance it's a steaming pile of shit.

It seems unoptimized which I can forgive if the gameplay and coop are good. That being said this would be the last AAA studio to eff up this kind of game, I guess Blizzard hasn't done their take on a loot shooter but still. Loot Shooters are always a dumpster fire at launch, so I'm halfway expecting that.

I typically don't pay attention to reviews, especially for this type of game. Most are upset it's not the game they wanted, or that it's woke(which I don't see). On the positive side this does seem like a live service game and a loot shooter which many disagreed on but are games I really like. Lots of MC games that are 90+ percent that you couldn't pay me to play.

Thus far just a few minutes in but man this feels like Arkane, controls like Prey and I love the setting. :)

Aww, I won't yuck your yum. I hope they fix what reviewers find an issue with. Arcane has a good pedigree so this is a shock.
