I am sure it's been discussed, but I went back and looked at a couple of hours of highlights and whatever else is on YouTube, and the ball patting is worse than I thought. I didn't mean to watch so much, but at some point I was actively trying to find a clip where he doesn't pat the ball.

He cannot throw the ball without putting his left hand on it. On the run, he has to pat the ball when he passes. In the pocket he pats it. No matter the situation, he puts his left hand on the ball before throwing it.

Maybe other QBs do this and I have never noticed, and maybe it doesn't matter, but I didn't see a single throw where he didn't pat the ball. There is probably a highlight somewhere, where he doesn't, but I didn't see it.
