I told you Spags was good juju. It's not his fault that lil' veachy let Uncle Pete bend him the **** right over on the Fidgity Frank deal( and **** your 2 games out of 11; don't EVEN bring that stupid shit to my door ).

you need to shut up and enjoy the golden age of chiefs football you well toned asshole

Brady is seriously going to look old. |
I fear our LB’s will be our downfall. Hard not to give Spags credit bc this year looks like an improvement over last year, but he needs another offseason to get some LB’s.
That position is killing us |

Not enough speed and they get exposed in coverage. The run fits have improved, but good offenses will get favourable matchups against this bunch. Not suggesting he’s an answer, but how could O’Daniel be any worse than Niemann in coverage? I thought his arrow was pointing up heading into the season, but obviously the coaches see something lacking in his game that he is not getting utilized. |

Yeah, this current defense is plenty good enough if you have the offense of last year.

Hmmm that’s interesting. I’d love to hear Spag’s explanation for that.
|
probably something to do with fuller being a shitty tackler
putting badger in the slot gives you a little extra help down low if they run the ball |
Fenton also left the game due to injury as well. Don’t read too much into this

Credit to Andy for hiring this guy. We’ve seen an enormous improvement from the defense and it’s only been 1 offseason.
I really like Spags coaching staff and his aggressive style. |
Huge ups to Spags today, holding Brady and his crew to 16 in their own house. He did it without Claiborne and Fenton, too.

14 ppg the last 3 weeks. All 3 teams threw everything they had at us too...

I'd just like to take this moment to point out that I was pleased with the Spags hire from day one.

Spags deserves high praise for how this D is playing. |
I'll tell you who sucks. Anthony Hitchens.
|
Quote:
He probably does a dozen things per game presnap that fans have no appreciation for. We haven't been caught with our pants down on D very much. |
Even when a drive doesn't end well at least it is starting to happen on our terms. That alone, beyond all the actual improvement, is enjoyable to watch.
|
Give Spags some major props!
He knows how to scheme to shut down that Pats offense. Hope we meet up with them again in the playoffs. In Fixborough or Arrowhead. Wherever. |
Hitchens wasn't great, but, man, our linebackers flat-out played. That was awesome to see.
|
Spags knows how to do this, he doesn't even fall asleep during the games like our last D coordinator did.
|
Spags takes pride in his defenses. Currently we are the 14th ranked overall defense. That is average!!! That’s actually better than average! If he can somehow contain Lamar in the AFCCG you build a statue outside of Arrowhead immediately after the game

Gunther's spirit is alive and well in Spags' body.
I feel like he is the best possible version of Gunther Cunningham, who was sometimes too aggressive for his own good. |

If the offense gets back on track, we're by far the best team in the league IMO. |

Chief hatin piece of shit......Loved you as a corner but damn man.....never even once gave Mahomes the call, even during his MVP season...
|
Steve Spagnuolo should get a medal. He took a defense composed of 6 new starters,
new to the team as well as to himself, installed his version of the 4-3, lacking a shut down DB, a new safety and a rookie safety, no legit top-tier MLB, and a bunch of cast-off DTs/DEs from other teams as well as our own scrapheap (Okafor/Ogbah/KPass/etc.), and turned them into a defense that held TB12 to 16 points. And while I'm at it, I have to admit I was wrong. I said before the season started that Spags would be working miracles if he could get this unit to be a 20th ranked defense. He's far exceeded my expectations. With hat over heart, thank you Mr. Spagnuolo. Now please reduce Drew Lock as efficiently as you did Joe Flacco. That is all. |
This defense has now hand delivered two victories for this team because the offense can't stop shitting itself to death.
This defense plays last year, were hoisting the Lombardi. Holding teams in check on the scoreboard, forcing takeaways/turnover on downs, and big plays in the endzone to end the game. In true Chiefs fashion, when one side of the ball starts to look good, the other side has to go to shit. |

Their defense had to "bail them out" again today, too. There are no perfect teams. Football is a team game, just be glad the Chiefs have a team now instead of an offense and no defense. |
Exactly, 23 points and 280 yards passing is an explosion for Alex Smith, but I digress...
|
In the two meetings between the Chiefs and Patriots last year, the Patriots scored 43 and 37 points. 80 points. When we were the league-leading sack producing team (52).
Tonight, the Patriots managed just 16. Dwell on that . . . |
We won...………...IN Fixboro…….everybody marinate on that.

Doesn't the thought of next year, with the group more experienced in the system together, plus maybe another FA and another high draft pick just make you salivate?
|
This team actually has a blitz package...one where they are disciplined enough to hold their water to the snap.
Saw the front four execute twists and combinations.... Who would have thought? |

top 10 potential |
The defense has been much better the last 3 games, but the opposing teams have had a lot of near misses that had nothing to do with our defense.
Is it just me, or do our outside corners seem to never turn their heads to locate the ball when they are running down field with a receiver? It seems like we are often right with the receiver, but we never look back to try and locate the ball, which results in too many DPI penalties. I remember watching Albert Lewis, Kevin Ross, Dale Carter, James Hasty, etc. play CB, and in my memories they would turn their heads so they could make a play on the ball. I also remembered William Bartee and his inability to turn his head, and getting burnt like toast game after game. Does this coaching staff teach the DBs to focus on the receiver, instead of playing the ball? Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk |

But, to be fair, some of that is the change in PI rules. Those guys could run into receivers and it wasn't a penalty, it was 'incidental contact'...and they'd do it on purpose sometimes and claim it was an accident to disrupt the play. You get called on that now, so you kind of have to keep your eyes on the reciever when you're in man until the last second and then try to locate the ball. It's tougher to play CB in this NFL than those guys' version. Still, yeah, definitely room for improvement although they're all better than Steven Nelson. :) |

Guys are buying in to Spags and finally understand where they need to be especially at LB. They look like a totally new group these days. Sutton never got them to play better as the year went on. Spags has done that.

D did a great job. Those blitzes were killer. Spags is killing it these past couple games
|
Here’s a couple fun stats. In the first half the Chiefs pressures Brady on 10 of 20 drop backs. That’s 50% of the time Spags brought pressure
Remember how we couldn’t cover running backs. We just held the best receiving RB in James White to 5 catches for 27 yards |

He’s made Anthony ****ing Hitchens into competent, he’s made a special teams player from Dallas be our best LB, he’s gotten the most out of Ragland and Sorenson, our pass defense is a complete 180 from last year, we lost Houston and Ford last year and our line has gotten even better. Spags is everything we have ever wanted. I have full faith in this defense to get a stop when we need one.
