I love the humor in Resident Alien. Filming just started in January, so S4 isn't available yet |
Quote:
I am going to give it a few more episodes at least. |
looks like they are departing from the game which is good
|
Really? Doesn't look like that at all to me. Won't spoiler outright but a couple of shots in that trailer are straight up 1 to 1 of what happens later in the game.
|
Enjoying the heck outta Blacklist. Thanks for the recommendations.

Anyone else watched Deli Guys?
|
It’s RARE that I’ve read a book (could stop here) before a show/movie but I was out on Cross quickly

Anyone watch Abbott Elementary?
8.2 on IMDB and 99% on RT Wife wants to start it up. |
Man. I can’t remember who recommended the Agency.
It jumps time a hair too much, but mother****er this is incredible. Slow burn and definitely not turn your mind off entertainment. But it is almost perfect. They don’t waste anything. Every shot is great, the music adds just enough, the intrigue is there. ****ing masterpiece this is. |

Great camera work and production throughout but that last episode was much too emo than what I go for entertainment, no matter how well done |
The camera work was phenomenal but jesus christ I wanted to kill myself.
I will say the psychiatrist episode was a very poignant look into mental illness. |
Gemstone Sunday. Praise Be To He!

I got into Mayor of Kingstown, finally. Been meaning to do it since it hit, but I never had show time or Paramount Plus, well, my buddy Picked up Paramount and gave me his login :D.
I didn't realize it was Taylor Sheridan. Accordingly, it's good in all the ways Sheridan's stuff is good, but has similar shortfalls. But Renner is ****ing amazing. End. God he's good. I just need to look up his IMDB and watch everything he's in. |
The Righteous Gemstones was phenomenal tonight, I'm going to miss this show.
He finna get hit with that Pussy Loop. |
Hope you all aren't sleeping on Wheel of Time. Season 3 is just on a completely different level. Season one is tough, but season 2 definitely picks up and season 3 is must watch stuff!

House of David on Prime -- not bad.
Any of the devout would probably take some issue with it. As you can imagine, there are going to be some gaps filled (mostly based on Hebrew legend rather than Biblical Canon) but nothing too terribly insane to this point. The actors do a nice job. I do think they've made Saul too crazy, too fast. From Saul not killing Agag to Daniel taking the Kingship was anywhere from 10 to 20 years based on most sources. Well they have Saul pretty much nutty as a shithouse rat from day 1. I don't think it went down like that. I just have a hard time believing that the guy held onto power for 15 years going nuts anytime he was asked a question. |

Have you caught the new season yet? |
I should not have watched The Last Kingdom. It feels like The Last Show for me. I've enjoyed it that much.

I actually thought about watching the show to decide if I wanted to get into the books. That's what I did with ASOIAF and then Roy Dotrice on car rides completely sold me on the rest of the series. That dude just completely made those audiobooks. |

Started watching "Secret Level" on Prime on a whim, and I really got pulled into it! It's a bunch of animated short stories based on popular board games/video games, and they're fantastically animated and put together really well. There's been a Dungeons and Dragons, a Warhammer 40K, and a Pac-Man(!) episode that were all freaking fantastic. And not to spoil, but the Pac-Man ep is ****ing DARK, lol.
Worth the watch, especially if you have a bit of a nerd gene in you. |

Dope Thief on Apple isn’t pure prestige but it’s, well, dope.
Really fun after 2 episodes. |
Just finished Deli Guys season 1. Loved it.

Watch 7 kings must die too.
The last kingdom is horrible if you’re a history nut but amazing if you’re here to be entertained. |
I want to like Cross on Prime but that shit is just too unbelievable.

There were obvious liberties taken with events and timelines but none of them undermined the authenticity of the show. It was very well done. I'm just sad that, because I have more than just a casual interest, that I know how the story really ends. Aethelstan united England, according to the movie, in IIRC 927 AD. It lasted less than 150 years. |
Oh my. Adolescence on Netflix is the best thing I've watched in a long time (through half of it).
Four hour-long episodes all done in one shot. It's insane. |

I'm sure you're getting "because you watched" recommendations for a short lived series called Barbarians... give it a shot and then give up after two episodes like I did, because its a D list version with AWFUL sophomoric writing |

I swear, Danny McBride just tickles the shit out of me. The guy can do sarcasm better than anyone I can recall. He really got me hooked in "East bound and down." Oh and apparently, John Goodman isn't deceased after all. |

To make a long story short, there's basically 4 factions at the time of the show - Wessex, Mercia, and East Anglia are Saxon. Of course, the Vikings are Dane and Norse. Then you have two related but distinct factions in the Celts. The Gaelic Celts inhabited Ireland and Scotland and then you had the Bretonic Celts in Wales, Cornwall, and Cumbria that were descended from the Britons. |
For example, the king of Mercia in the second season before Aethelred and Aethelflaed were married (the old guy that died at the table) was Ceowulf. An actual historical character. We all know the famous tale of Beowulf. Ceowulf and Beowulf share a common etymology because both came from an area in what is probably modern day Schleswig Holstein which is the German state bordering Denmark.

I'm aware of all of that on an above surface level, books and documentaries about the old country have been mainstays with me since my teenage years But being a schooled historian gives you a deeper understanding than myself, and I will never be too old to be schooled... its very complicated history to try and get a handle on Though geographically close, they were all quite distinct yet somehow intertwined people William Wallace is the biggest Scottish hero ever yet his family hailed from Wales.. the surname Wallace is just another name for Welsh O' is Irish for "son of" Mc is Scottish for the same Our ancestors were some strange mfers, lol |

In all seriousness, it's one of my favorite periods in history. I already knew a lot of the large story arcs before I watched it. That made it that much better for me and I got really invested in ALL the characters. There were so many good ones, no matter what side of the conflict they were on. Just a superb telling of the story of that time. |

Y’all are a bunch of ****ing nerds.
Can someone please watch Adolescence and back me up? It might be the best thing I’ve ever watched in any medium outside of Shawshank Redemption and I mean that. To add some teaser: imagine if Clay lived in the UK and never found CP. How do you think that would’ve ended up for him? |
Can't wait for Gemstone Sunday tomorrow.
"It's Prism time ya'll." |
