Right, however I was under the impression that this rule (D1-D1 transfer) was waived when the player's recruiting head coach, or head coach in general, leaves/quits/gets fired/retires ?

Is that wrong?

That is generally just with incoming recruits, and there is no "rule" mandating that a new incoming coach grant a release to the recruit.

BB doesn't need to get a release to play at KSU. He can not be a scholarshipped player this year, but he can walk on at the in-state tuition rate - which is no biggie for one year. This is what I expect to happen. We shall see.

Can he not go to a JUCO route just for academics and not waste an year of eligibility in athletics, if the cost may be too high for him to enroll in Kansas State?

Just curious what are the rules if that were to happen.

Sure, but his eligibility clock ticks no matter where he is at. He'd essentially be redshirting at a Juco vs KSU. So, it makes more sense to just walk on at KSU, be a part of the team as a redshirt, and play in '11.

Well, Bryce can easily pay off his student loans if he were to get drafted, which I'd imagine he would, since he's too talented not to. So, your theory is the walk-on redshirt for one year might be the best solution.

Also, what can you give us about Masoli?

Well, I think the key is that they can't **** up like they did with Prince. And I thought, at first, it was a solid hire, until it went south. So, who will replace him this time?

I think Masoli and KSU are a perfect fit. Hpefully the Ole Miss business is him exploring options. I don't see at ALL what benefit he has walking on there, to be a backup in the only year he has left.

Come to KSU, on scholarship, and start. Parents can be assured Snyder will keep him out of trouble and provide good NFL advice.

Allright, maybe the Masoli to KSU rumblings has some legs. Just got off the phone with a "source", and there seems to be a legit chance of this happening by the end of next week. Wow. Not sure how the F this all transpired. I'm going to dig into this a bit more.

BTW, BB to KSU is a done deal. The only thing they are waiting on is a potential release - which looks like it isn't going to happen. Walking on looks like THE best option at this point.

Well, wonder how legit the Masoli situation is. I just figured it was one of those pull-out-of-your ass Nick Athan rumors.

So, BB to KSU is finalized, regardless of the scholarship issue?

Selby was rated by Rivals.com as the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2010. He's one of three consensus top 15 recruits now known to be at risk of not being certified to compete as a freshman because of academic or amateurism concerns. Also in that group is Selby's cousin, Will Barton, a freshman at Memphis who was ruled ineligible by the NCAA on Wednesday because of issues about his academic background, sources told CBSSports.com. The third player is Enes Kanter, a freshman at Kentucky whose past involvement with a professional team in his native Turkey continues to be scrutinized.

Bryce Brown to enroll at Kansas State

Former Wichita East standout running back Bryce Brown intends to enroll at Kansas State and begin classes later this month.

ESPN.com reported that Brown plans to begin classes at Kansas State on Aug. 23. Brian Butler, an adviser to the Brown family, confirmed the report Wednesday night.

Brown's move to Kansas State has been rumored for weeks.

Brown was one of the nation's top recruits coming out of high school, and spent his freshman season at Tennessee. But he decided to transfer this spring after former coach Lane Kiffin left for Southern California.

Tennessee coach Derek Dooley has said he will not grant Brown his scholarship release from the Volunteers. The Brown family is trying to overturn that decision, but whatever happens will apparently have no bearing on Brown's decision to enroll at K-State.

Without a release from Tennessee, Brown will have to pay his own way for a year before being put on an athletic scholarship for the 2011 season.

Bryce Brown's older brother, Arthur Brown Jr., transferred to Kansas State from Miami (Fla.) and is sitting out this season.

I initially thought he looked a little slow... kinda had the whole Larry Johnson "gimme-a-step-or-three-to-get-going-then good-luck-bringing-me-down" style. But a few minutes in, he flashes some speed on those catches in the flats and when he sprints around the pile. He definitely shows some power, which is pretty nice.

I still think he needs to run lower; it looks like he stands straight up when running, and I think that will make him vulnerable to some big hits/injuries.

But for a freshman? These are some damn fine highlights of things to come.

Nah, just can't believe that Josh Moore would listen to him and think that going to the NFL right now would have been a good choice.

Had Moore stayed in Manhattan, I think he would have been much higher than a 5th rounder at the end of the 2010-11 season, assuming he stay healthy throughout the season, of course.

There's no reason we shouldn't be undefeated going in to conference play. Duke or Marquette game (@ KC) could be a toss up, especially if its Duke. UNLV (@home) and Florida(@home) are the other two games that could be hiccups.

And we should go 12-4, 13-3, or 14-2 in conference play, give or take a game.

I'll take less than 6 losses into the Big 12 tourney, please.
