Dan working an underhook against the cage, really working head/body shots out of the clinch.
Mir's just getting eaten up against the cage. |
Dan working the body relentlessly. Damn.
|
Brilliant inside leg kick by Cormier.
|
10-9 Cormier.
|
Mir once again against the cage.
He's really lucky Dan hasn't started trying to separate and throw short elbows/uppercuts ala Carwin. The cage is not your friend Mir!!! |
Dan starting to slow a bit.
|
Nice slip and right hook to the body by Cormier.
|
Mir has to get this fight on the ground or get Dan to react and land a shot (ala his fight with Kongo) to have any chance of winning this fight now.
|
Sweet TDD by Mir but he probably should have let himself be taken down. Mir now landing some ILKs and pressing the action. Nice body kick, knee then elbow!
|
Dan really should have used his OHR more. First time he threw it and while it was blocked, the crack was nasty.
|
30-27 Cormier.
|
" I ate the bones!!!! "
|
Damn. Gilbert looks awesome
|
Melendez has a nastyyyy knot on his left shin from checking Bendo's kicks. ****, this fight is fantastic.
|
Wow. This fight is crazy!!!!!!!!!!
|
Great fight so far

Gilbert is getting flustered. I expect something unorthodox from him early in the round.
|
I've got it 29-28 Gil so far.
Bendo needs to start hammering on Gil's lead leg again. |
Quote:
If Gilbert wins, it's going to be because he wins on some huge exchanges on the feet due to his boxing IMO. |
Damn this fight is close.
|
I think it'll be a split for Hendersen
|
He took the last round. I got it 3-2 for hendy.
|
Thoughts on the fight:
Bendo has really underrated head movement Gil has underrated boxing Gil needed to use his jab more as well as his back uppercut Bendo probably should have tried to work harder on the cage and attempted a few more TDs. Gil's TDD is no joke though. Gil really needs to learn how to check kicks or inject muscle into his leg. His lead leg got beat the **** up. |

Wooo!!!
10/12 baby!!! |
OMG. This is ****ing stupid.
|
You have to beat the champion to be the champion. Not tonight but he came close.
|
What a bizarre time to do that. It's pretty insulting to the other fighter to PROPOSE after beating him.
|
Sonnen acting a fool
|
Sonnen is such a pathetic douche
|

I don't think Gil beat Bendo tonight though. |
I really hate henderson now. Wtf is that shit

Seriously, what ****ing woman would want to be proposed to in ****ing San Jose in a goddamn arena after a fight? Maybe Cyborg but that's probably about it. |
Also, was he going to propose if he had lost? ROFL that would have been awesome to see.
|
Was playing catch up all night with the fights because my kid was playing Xbox when they started.
Frank Mir got his ass beat. That makes me happy. that is all. |

Even at -960, Jon Jones is easy money, especially against that schlub.
|
Broken toe
|
I dont care what Sonnen says..that fight was stopped too early...and had it made it to the bell, Sonnen could have won with the broken toe.
|
Jon Jones is the mother ****ing man!!
|
Will sonnen retire finally? I'm tired of his schtick.
|
Mmmm, I want to see Vitor/Anderson 2.
http://i.minus.com/ibmPJrTwcsFIvY.gif Additionally, Mark Hunt got his visa, so the fight with JDS is on. |
Yeah I wondered where you were last night on this. Didn't want to be posting to myself.
Nice ko. I think he will give Anderson a run. Mark hunt makes me excited too Posted via Mobile Device |

Vitor had no respect for Luke. While I'm a big Vitor fan, I was really disappointed by Luke's defensive skills, footwork, and inability to aggressively work TDs. Granted, he probably should have gotten a "warm up" fight, as the transition to the UFC is pretty significant. I really am thrilled for the Hunt/JDS fight due to the style matchup. I'm starting to anticipate that JDS looks for a TD and tries to finish the fight on the ground though, which is a bummer because I'd love to see a stand up war b/w the two. A k1 fight with those guys would be worth every bit of $50. |
Vitor needs to fight in the U.S. and quit hiding in Brazil where they protect his ass and TRT...
|
Quote:
Additionally, if Overeem/Sonnen/Marquardt/etc. can get approved for TRT use in the states, then there is no reason why Vitor can't. Personally, I'd wish they'd just ****ing ban it like the IOC but until then, I see no problem with it since nearly everyone in the sport is using a form of a performance enhancer. |
Additionally, **** the IOC and I'm going to watch the Lentz, Lucas/Martins, and Dos Anjos/Dunham fights.
Maybe I'll come back with some fine gifs. |

At this point it's silly to put anyone in front of Anderson Silva unless its either Jon Jones or GSP, esp at this point of his career. Just how many more people does AS have to make look irrelevant in his weight division before the superfight is made? Anderson Silva is ****ing 38 yrs old. Jones vs Silva GSP vs. Silva I don't care which one it is, just make the damn fight, and have Cowboys Stadium host it, make it one of the biggest fight cards of all time. UFC needs something like that right now to be honest. No one cares about the HW division anymore, Jon Jones is doing the same thing Anderson Silva and GSP are doing, cleaning out the division. Personally, I'd matchup Jones and Silva, because I think Silva would destroy GSP in a matter of a couple rds. Here's a good UFC 100 type of mega card that would be a seller at Cowboys stadium: A.Silva vs. J.Jones (either this or GSP, whatever make one of the fights happen, Silva isn't getting any younger) Cormier vs. Velasquez (I'd rather watch this than to see another JDS matchup) Sonnen vs. W.Silva (move this match back...with eachothers UFC careers on the line - whoever loses has to say goodbye) Belfort vs. Hall ( <-- simply because this can be a guy the UFC can build around) Rousey vs. whoever else is in contention in women's MMA (I don't like women being in MMA because it's silly, but this would be simply for a marketing/PR $$$ cow standpoint) |
Personally, I want Silva/Vitor 2 and Jones/Machida around the same time frame. Then I want Jones/Silva.
Anderson would seriously hurt Georges. I don't know if Dan's going to fight Cain, they've talked about it but the stuff I've hear was that it would only be for a ridiculous amount (sounds like Chuck/Tito only these two are actually really close) I love Wanderlei and I think there is no way he wins that fight. Hall is overhyped and really lacking in a large quantity of skill sets to be matched up with Vitor. I'm excited for Ronda's next fight. Women's MMA needs to step it up though. There just aren't enough viable contenders for ROusey after this fight, Tate2, and Cyborg at the moment. |

Watching the Dunham/Dos Anjos fight. Dunham really didn't utilize his best skills IMO.Additionally, his lead head kick off combos is pretty slow and would be probably better suited going to the body.

UFC is going to use that spinning back foot knock out footage like crazy !!! Is it me.. Or does anyone notice that you have to be bald to talk in the ring as an announcer .. & that when Dana white & Joe rogan stand there yelling at each other before A pay preview starts hyping it up they look like two shinny boobs!! |
Quote:
( I would love to see him get humbled) I am biased too... I have sat in that arena.. Watched him fight to many times.. Years ago in Chicago. . Or was it Vegas, they all blend together both were fights where Sean Sherk was fighting.. Anderson actually apologized ( how many times now ) for his performance. He could have ended to fight but he ... Danced around for all of the rounds till the very end.. Never making contact. |

Holy ****. Once again, I'm late with updates and didn't do any pbp for last weekends event.
To sum up, Cain looked like a slower, less athletic, heavyweight Shogun Rua with better boxing/head movement. While I don't want to see him vs. Cigano right now (would rather build that fight up), the 3rd match is going to be awesome if junior doesn't gas out and works on his footwork+ a variety of things defensively (which I can go into more indepth later if anyone would like). Junior looked solid but it seemed that Rogan/Goldy were really missing on how often Hunt was able to counter with his lead hook. Once Cigano got the timing down, he was able to land his OHR quite easily. A far mor difficult task with Cain, IMO. The wheel kick was awesome and it was crazy he finally landed it in the UFC against Hunt. Was really surprised by maynard. His footwork, stance, and striking has looked so much more polished since working with Nova Uniao. Shocked by the outcome. I don't know if Grant has power or if Gray's chin is deteriorating, but damn. Glover looked like vintage Teixeira. I don't think he can beat Jones but he's a solid prospect with good skills. Unfortunately, his TDD and inability to secure wrists/work aggressively and effectively off his back make that a poor style matchup. |
Didn't think this was thread worthy but funny. These guys are ****ed btw. Nobody in Brasil is going to want anything to do with them because of this video.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/zbXh56BtjuU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Can't wait for Pettis/Jose though. Can't wait. |
Anybody gonna watch UFC 166 tonight?
My friend Gino is gonna be a judge. I think it's pretty cool. His first time in the "big leagues" I'ma throw down tree fitty on xmeforums and watch on the cheap. Cain vs Junior oughta be good. fat boy Roy never ceases to amaze me. I really hope Dodson gets knocked out. he's annoying as hell. |
I'm planning on watching it. Even if the main event doesn't live up to the hype, there are several other interesting matches.
|
nightmare is showing his age. wow. seems like yesterday he was on the ultimate fighter. time flies.
the bald mexican judge is my homey! |

I love the sport.
I'm liking the ultimate fighter this year much better than I thought I would. some of those girls are crazy good. that fight between the tall blonde and the short latina gal....that was awesome! c-c-cat fight! I can't wait to see rousey and and tate square off |
Quote:
Basketball, even boxing, no thanks. I'd rather turn the TV off and do anything else. UFC? Sure, OK. |
I'll be watching.
|
Larsen Ferguson G-Sot Kaufman Lombard (Nate's chin is gone) Boetsch Dodson Gonzaga Melendez Cormier JDS I know almost nothing about the majority of the prelim guys, so I'm taking a stab in the dark on most of those. |
According to the internet, Waldburger got taken out on a stretcher. No movement, thats why the crowd was pretty quiet during the victory announcement.
|
I've lost a lot of interest in MMA lately. Dont know why. Women in MMA is just silly as hell. Having one of them be a TUF coach is even more silly.
I'm really tired of having to watch scrubs like Frank Mir and Wanderlei Silva, Roy Nelson and other has beens on these major cards. JDS and Velasquez are the only ones worth a crap in the HW division. Dana is going to milk that matchup for cash as much as he can. We'll probably see them fight eachother again 3 more times I'm sure. |

And let's not forget the obvious. The 2 women MMA fighters that have gotten major publicity in recent years are Rousey and Carano. And they got popular not for fighting (successful or not), but because of their looks instead. The had sex appeal, and so their respected companies and sponsors ran w/ that. I mean you have to be a ****ing moron to shell out $60 for a PPV with Rousey headlining the main event. |

The reason why I don't like women's boxing is because women aren't usually worth a damn at striking. In the UFC, they are almost all submission artists, and its a contest to see who can land the submission first.
And that is fine. UFC fans like both strikers and wrestlers, and there are plenty of popular men who don't do much unless they are on the ground. |

...and of course right when I post that, we get a fight between 2 of the only female strikers. LOL
Oh well, it was entertaining, Kaufman should win that decision. |
