Has he been declared out for the game?

That was like the narrative that Taylor was brought in to be the LT…when that was CLEARLY never the case.

Why would you go into this season with this receiving core if you didnt think he was then?

He practiced in some capacity today, so it's not out of the question. Honestly, though, we shouldn't be rushing ANYONE with a nagging injury against the Bears.

We almost just need to sit Toney for the regular season and just bring him back for the playoffs. Love the guy's ability, but it's pretty clear he's got a major case of injuritis.

He's never going to be completely healthy.

Because this WR corps is a developing group that the roles haven’t shaken out yet.

I’m low key excited for the opportunity that Ross is going to have against the bears.

This could quite possibly be a breakout game for the kid.

Returned to practice today. Could possibly play.

BossChief 09-22-2023 11:43 AM

Just let him rest and let’s see what Ross and Rice can do in expanded roles.

It’s time

I certainly would like to see Rice and Ross have more opportunities & am excited about it but the coaches did not want them in these roles. It is taking injuries by James & Toney for it to possibly even happen.

You mean, other than targeting Toney the most out of all the WRs?

Not officially in those words, no. But Reid did say he thought Toney could have an increased role in the offense. And he does have more targets than any WR.

If you look at snap counts, it's not necessarily because they're feeding him the ball. He's really good at getting open.

Oh, I know. I've been saying since last season that he's the best WR we have at getting open when he's supposed to get open on his routes, but that's just my opinion, based heavily on the analyses of several former NFL QBs and DBs. So take that with whatever number of grains of salt you choose.

And I think part of the reason his snap counts aren't higher so far in 2023, is due to his preseason injury. Andy is just bringing his snaps up slowly, partly because Toney didn't get the benefit of preseason work/practice, and partly because Toney probably still isn't really in 'game shape.'

Yea, but that's because they're easing him back in after missing all of TC.

His snap count will continue to go up as long as he stays healthy.

Toney is peanut brittle.
